I like the ending. You are like, "I'll just throw in this fancy long sweep at the very end." And then you are like, "Nah, nobody wants to hear this technical crap. Slow melodic playing is more fun." :)
thanks for posting, and i already read that you're playing through a line-6, but the low end sounds horrendous IMHO. new pickups + tube sound, maybe a preamp would be sweet.
Agile needs to make a guitar that can make you play better instead of adding strings that are not necessary. Shit is getting ridiculous. Thanks to Agile and their shitty guitars for keeping the noobs happy. Hell their making a killing of you dumb ass bastards.
@jdmimport13 "Not necessary," implies redundant. If the elimination of such frivolity as multiple fingering options is your goal perhaps we should reevaluate traditional guitar craft. There are of course redundancies aplenty on your six string guitar. Unless you only have four frets, too. Maybe that would be even less intimidating to you; "help you play better." The point of these instruments is range. Perhaps you also think a piano is better suited to 65 or 44 keys instead of 88?
on your 9th low string can you hear it okay on your amp or chug at least,I got an Omen 8 string,I think but I'm new to the extended guitars that F# and low B would be in the bass clef range am I right? that be cool to have a 9 string now,I wouldnt need a bass player at all
I never knew Agile made snowboards! But on the real pretty sick. I dig the jam, those are some of the best modes to mess with although mixo is my favorite. Props!
Good stuff cat the only thing that killed it for me though was the one pickup in the bridge position. That and your low end sounded a bit murky.great demonstration!
maybe investing in axe-fx or an amp that is designed for a tight low end will fix that i love my axe-fx and i feel that itl tighten that low end up real fast
Its fairly easy to string the c# and f# they are bass strings. 105 for c# and .085 for f#. With the 30" scale it sounds more like a bass now, which iswhat I was going for intentionally so I could play guitar and bass on the same neck. And learn to ten finger tap.
Bubbawheat- the 90 gauge holds up well with the 30 inch scale. I actually put some bass strings on the extra low strings. For the C# I use .105. For the F# I use .085. For the B I use a .065. Then I use Dr strings the tight fit set (.011-.050) for the e to e section. It sounds much better than the original setup.
That was honestly just a line6 flextoneamp. I play through a jsx right now. It sounds a lot betterlol. I will be posting about 3 new 9 string videos as soon as I have internet in my apt. I only have my smartphone. To get onto the internet with.
great playing man :D i love the high end tone on that. the low string is waaayyy too fuzzy for my liking though but i guess its a preference sorta thing
Hey everyone sorry I haven't replied in a while I don't have internet except on my phone. I really appreciate all the comments. I am currently working some nine string pieces to put up one that's clean with some Chapman stick esque tapping. Another tune that's heavier with some serious progressions. Stay tuned
@ShaneC989 i thought 8 was plenty of strings that is just getting to close to a distoted bass sound now, good playing though i just think 9 strings are un use-able
Great guitar Shane. And to people wondering about huge string gauges-Longer scale guitars do not need as thick a string as a short scale guitar would use.
Im so glad that you understand what extended range entails. Great demo video of ALL 9 strings. And nice tone too, didn't sound too terribly muddy, yet there was tons of note definition. Great job man!
@ShredWithEd Have a listen to the songs on the Contradictions collapse album, not as 'boring' and single note oriented as the newer stuff, possibly harder to play too.
Thanks for all the positive comments they are greatly appreciated. As far as the tone I'm still working on a good solid tone for the beast. Ill be posting a new video very soon.
idk... i think 8 strings would have... well should have sufficed most players... the 9th string? reeally? i understand the 8th and 9th were meant to be tuned like a bass? E and A?... phew... my hands are cramping just by looking at it...
dont feel pressured to use all the strings man, just typical prog metal/tosi abasi fans that want everyone to do that, go with a style you enjoy playing, since its your guitar its your rules! dont go to please others, please yourself first and then fans have to decide if they like what You're playing instead of what they want you to play or tune to. man id tune a bit below C# lol for me sumthing like
A E B E A D G B E that would be awesome tuning imo got powerchords at the bottom lol :)
Nice riffs. Just wondering how you're finding string muting etc. on technical riffs now that you've had the guitar for a while, as I'm thinking of getting one and am worried about it.
@EtherealEntity6 I find It not too much more difficult than working with technical riffs on an 8 string. I just find my way around it. Its very difficult to think of riffs that really utilize the full 9 string spectrum. But if you are anything like me and enjoy a good challenge Musically Its well worth the money. Pickups are actually clean as hell and there is no Warble. String muting though is a little hard at first but its not a serious issue. Keep in touch when you get one!
I have a couple of questions, as I want to get a similar Agile. First of all, how is the 30 inch scale? More specifically, how is the string tension on the 6 "normal" strings? I do a LOT of bending/legato so tension is my enemy, can you do big bends on this with standard .009s? Second, since the scale is the same as a short scale bass, is it easy to play leads on this thing? I imagine playing from frets 1-12 would be quite a stretch.
@cavedweller1996 Not with the extended scale. Note the scale of this guitar is 30" from bridge to nut therefore the increased length increases tension on the string hence a thicker than thick string is not required.
hey....have you checked out any of the octive4plus strings? they are custom made to tune to A440 or a bit higher, they make them for different scales too. by the way, I am getting this guitar in either june or july and was wondering, because of the long scale length, what gauge strings would you use for the strings E-e as well as the low B and low F# and since its so long, does it make playing near the high frets easier?
@chrisiztheman1618 Ive Heard of them and checked out the site. They are a bit pricey but I will probably go with it so I can tune the guitar up to E A D G C F Bb D G instead of C# F# B E A D G B E.
I would use regular gauge strings to be honest like 10-46 for the E TO e section. The reasoning is that its very hard to bend the strings on this scale. I usually use like 11 to 54 on my sixs and for the B I use a 70 on this one though Its 10 to 46 , then the B is a 62 and the F# is a 74, Thanks!!
@ShaneC989 awesome, well ill probably use 9 gauge or even 8 because i need to be able to bend with out breaking the string, on my practise guitar iuse 13-56 dunlops in standard e. but with the 9 ill probably do a 9-42 then a 60 on the B something higher on the F# and the 6 on the high e. i heard someone doing drop E stuff on it too and it sounds amazing
Tight bro. Sweet skills and I'm digging that I see more vids of people with Agiles. I'm getting a 8 string soon. The 9 for me would be too much to deal with but you are tearing it up.
@codyandcambria Dude I absolutely love this guitar. I really appreciate the comment too. 9 was a very hard adjustment I played 8 for a year then went back to 7s then bought that one. lol as soon as I get some time Im gonna put up some more footage of this beast. Thanks for Watching!
Love it man sweet sound, nice riffing. I just been playing Schecter 8 string its nice, but I was considering on getting a Agile but they have so many bad reviews.
@MrMetallicious With a smaller scale length it would work. I couldnt get the high E tuned up to G with the 30 inch scale. The next one I get will be tuned from low E to High G or E A D G C F Bb D G
Oh, man. I have been pining after this guitar! Nice display of 9-string usage. =) I've an Ibanez RG2228, and that thing is a beast as it is. Do put up some clean sounds; that's a wonderful idea! It is tough to nail distortion tones on something with THAT much range. You'll find the sweet spot soon enough.
@Bubbathewheat The guitar itself is an absolute dream to play. Its not that hard to get used to coming from a 7 or 8 string background. I wouldnt go with a 9 if you are a 6 string player though. Pros and cons though let me see. Pros are that its actually light weight and easy to get used too. The Cepheus Passive pickups are amazing surprisingly(That was my biggest worry.) It actually sounds good through both guitar and bass amps. No Warble at all. The guitar is definitely worth the money
@Bubbathewheat Cons With the guitar would be the scale length. 30 inch scale is a pain to play at times. It actually hurts to play some chords on the first 5 frets. With a 28 or 27 it would be perfect. Another Con about the guitar is getting strings. I litterally have had to butcher string sets both guitar and bass to accommodate the strings needed. Other than that though It honestly was the easiest guitar to setup. It literally fell into intonation. Hope this helps.
i'd like to tune it as low as it could go and just make all the strings octave's all the way down.. One huge ass majorly deep yet harmonic single bar chords
@CORNP00 I will put some more up soon. Its just a mindfuck trying to think of cool stuff to play that really utilizes all 9 strings. I have some Ideas that i am working on that are for 9 strings. I will also put up a clean video to really try to get another nice demo of the monster.
Thanks for the comment too btw I really appreciate it!
What's the heaviest gauge string you can get through the low tuner? I have the $500 8-string, and it can take an 80. I don't think this guitar is for me if it tops out at .090.
@JessyUV Well I believe it would be like.074 gauge. I found a way around that problem though haha, I literally unwind the string just enough so that it fits into the tuner. If you use that method then you can get whatever you want buddy!
@dimeowns100 I feel that tuning buddy. I didnt want that low C# but I kept it due to the fact that the scale length is too long to have a string tuned higher than E. I broke like 3 strings trying to get it up to G lol. Next one I get Im gonna get a 27" scale and tuning it E A D G C F A D G. Thanks for watching!
@ShaneC989 Ah that's a shame, i guess i'll get a 27" scale too, i'll probably have to get a custom one made or something cause i can't find a 27" 9 string guitar for the life of me!
@dimeowns100 I believe agile is gonna have a customized menu to make exactly what you want. So you might be able to get a 27" scale. Either way bro this guitar is the shit.
@FinalFight323 Thanks bro! I feel that tuning Idea youve got. If I could give any advice, Dont get a 30" scale if you want to do that tuning. I tried tuning the guitar E A D G C F Bb D G and I snapped 3 strings. I didnt feel like ordering the Garry goodman ones at the time,They are a little expensive lol. But with a 25-27" scale that shouldnt be a problem at all.
@attherateofarobase The guitar came setup with the low C# on top. I am using a .090 string with a guitar ball end for that. It holds tension really well with a 30" scale. It has a really warm, snappy bass sound to it when the amp is on a clean setting. If I get another one I wont be using the low C# . I would go with a higher tuning with the lowest note being the F#. The guitar also basically fell into intonation! It is an absolute dream to play also I highly recommend one.
I wish more played them like this rather than that cookie monster shit

It is tough to nail distortion tones on something with THAT much range. You'll find the sweet spot soon enough.

How much was this guitar btw if you don't mind answering?

I actually really want this guitar, but the scale legnth worries me. And input on the pros/cons of this guitar?
Bubbathewheat 10 months ago
@Bubbathewheat The guitar itself is an absolute dream to play. Its not that hard to get used to coming from a 7 or 8 string background. I wouldnt go with a 9 if you are a 6 string player though. Pros and cons though let me see. Pros are that its actually light weight and easy to get used too. The Cepheus Passive pickups are amazing surprisingly(That was my biggest worry.) It actually sounds good through both guitar and bass amps. No Warble at all. The guitar is definitely worth the money
ShaneC989 10 months ago

Standard420247 10 months ago
1:20 cool sweep tap...*shrugs shoulders* nbd
make some more 9 string demos. theres not alot on youtube that are skilled like this
CORNP00 10 months ago
@CORNP00 I will put some more up soon. Its just a mindfuck trying to think of cool stuff to play that really utilizes all 9 strings. I have some Ideas that i am working on that are for 9 strings. I will also put up a clean video to really try to get another nice demo of the monster.
Thanks for the comment too btw I really appreciate it!

that a home made riff or that from an actual song? either way sounds epic with the low C
Standard420247 10 months ago
or you can just sand out the tuner hole to make it bigger :P
Cypher858 10 months ago
I think I would tune 9 strings E, A, E, A, D, G, B, E, A.... would kick so much ass. unlimited range!
lehmanpolarbear70 10 months ago
@lehmanpolarbear70 I feel that! It would be really open sounding with chords.
ShaneC989 10 months ago

What's the heaviest gauge string you can get through the low tuner? I have the $500 8-string, and it can take an 80. I don't think this guitar is for me if it tops out at .090.
JessyUV 10 months ago
@JessyUV Well I believe it would be like.074 gauge. I found a way around that problem though haha, I literally unwind the string just enough so that it fits into the tuner. If you use that method then you can get whatever you want buddy!
ShaneC989 10 months ago
I't have it tuned F# B E A D G B E A
dimeowns100 11 months ago
@dimeowns100 I feel that tuning buddy. I didnt want that low C# but I kept it due to the fact that the scale length is too long to have a string tuned higher than E. I broke like 3 strings trying to get it up to G lol. Next one I get Im gonna get a 27" scale and tuning it E A D G C F A D G. Thanks for watching!
ShaneC989 11 months ago
@ShaneC989 Ah that's a shame, i guess i'll get a 27" scale too, i'll probably have to get a custom one made or something cause i can't find a 27" 9 string guitar for the life of me!
dimeowns100 10 months ago
@dimeowns100 I believe agile is gonna have a customized menu to make exactly what you want. So you might be able to get a 27" scale. Either way bro this guitar is the shit.

Pretty stuff good job

Epic stuff dude! When the semicustoms are available to order (should be later this month), I'm ordering a 9-string Intrepid too. E B E A D G B E A :D
FinalFight323 11 months ago
@FinalFight323 Thanks bro! I feel that tuning Idea youve got. If I could give any advice, Dont get a 30" scale if you want to do that tuning. I tried tuning the guitar E A D G C F Bb D G and I snapped 3 strings. I didnt feel like ordering the Garry goodman ones at the time,They are a little expensive lol. But with a 25-27" scale that shouldnt be a problem at all.
ShaneC989 11 months ago
@ShaneC989 Yeah, I'm gonna have to go the Garry Goodman route but I am getting a 27" scale.
FinalFight323 11 months ago
@FinalFight323 Good luck with that, I am kind of weary about it, You should keep in touch about those strings bro!
ShaneC989 11 months ago
@ShaneC989 Will do!
FinalFight323 11 months ago
What gauge string are you using for the low C#?
Did the guitar come setup with that tuning?
attherateofarobase 11 months ago
@attherateofarobase The guitar came setup with the low C# on top. I am using a .090 string with a guitar ball end for that. It holds tension really well with a 30" scale. It has a really warm, snappy bass sound to it when the amp is on a clean setting. If I get another one I wont be using the low C# . I would go with a higher tuning with the lowest note being the F#. The guitar also basically fell into intonation! It is an absolute dream to play also I highly recommend one.
