I hate it how little recognition this movie got! I am absolutely IN LOVE with it! It sends a good, powerful message, and I know so many people who could relate to Sam. It's realistic, and very creative, yet few of the people I know have seen it. :( Hayden did an amazing job on this movie. <3

Kid only had a hard life in the movie because he was weak and couldnt strive forward through the few hardships he had. He is the perfect example of pathetic people in this world. Your comment is far too presumptuous. First of all, hardship can be relative. What is difficult for one man is easy to another. People struggle with different vices and weaknesses. I wouldn't call the kid in the movie pathetic, because calling him pathetic would assume that there is someone in this world who isn't pathetic in some way. He is a victim of his parental circumstances, and he personally couldn't find the means or enough reason to bind his life back together.

A divorce for one child is different than another child. It hits some kids incredibly hard, others tend to move on with their lives. Yet, it is foolish to think that some can get over that. The latter group may think they got through just fine, but really its only suppressing the issue. Sooner or later the issue will come out and they will face it later in life, while people like Sam Monroe face it right away. A divorce shakes a lot of your basic assumptions about life.
