you can just go to your map, then push the up button again to let the warp zones appear, and then choose the lake hyla warp zone. It should fix that glitch and warp the cannon to lake hyla

This is actually really frustrating for me, I am 39 hours into the game (went around collecting ALL the peices of heart I could and looking for all the little secrets) and yesterday I had to leave so I saved here not knowing about this glitch
I do have another save which I ACCIDENTLY made back in the water temple but that was 15 hours into the game... which would mean that I would need to play at leats 20 hours to catch back up to where I was...
if u click the map button right after talking to her and use that to work u should have no problem. thats how u get it out when using the early city in the sky glitch

If you want to keep the file so badly I would suggest some kind of warp cheat using "gecko" or something. But I recommend that you just start over, or find a save file on the internet that continues where you left off.
my suggestion is to try to exit and look carefully at where shad is standing, then when you finish the text look for that location and try speaking to him there, if that doesnt work maybe try to stand behind a rock or something so your hidden then try warping
Try to use the glitch where you put a bomb in the ground and to the charged attack with the sword when the bomb is almost exploding, it will explode you far, do that near the door, maybe you will pass the barrier where it starts the conversation with Shad

Umm... people were warned to save before this room, and not inside of it. Just don't do it. that simple. Then if it screws up, you load at the old save and try again. Otherwise you start over.
Well, when I got here it was a bit after I had seen this video, I started flipping out. so, I talked to Shad, and he said " Oh, I'm sorry! Am I in your way?" And left. I was then able to warp to lake Hylia. But, if that doesn't work sorry, you gotta start over. I talked to him right after Midna flew up. Maybe there's a cheat code you can use, to get your progress back.

Probably far too late for the original vid poster, but to anyone reading the comments, you CAN get back out with another glitch. It's actually part of a speedrunning glitch called City In The Sky Early, where you can call up the map and use the warp points where you're not necessarily supposed to. It's been done on GameCube first, but there's a way to make it work on the Wii as well.

Shad, if that's his name, has to leave to room after trying to do the spell and it doesn't work. Did you try giving him the dominion rod or the book? I forgot which you give him.
Woah. Ok, that's odd. Have you tried using the hover disk to get out or going to the spot where you last saw the guy and press the speak button? I see that you already tried that and ended up talking to Midna. Have you tried the grappling claws?
hey dude i got an idea PLAY THE GAME. the "hover disk" won't take him anywhere, the stairs are the only way out, and their's nothing to grab with the "grappling claws"
I totally feel you man! When the game came out i was playing through it strong and making great time! then i decided to save as always. Couldnt get out of the room. I actually called Nintendo to yell at them about it. They apologized and sent me a free strategy guide. Theres no fix or anything for this glitch. They admitted the problem when i called and said there was nothing that could be done!! I was PISSED! Still am, but replayed the game and had fun second time through.

Haha and you thought you were good at dungeons? All that problem solving, and logic obstacles in those other dungeons are amateur sh!t compared to this.

What you can do is call nintendo and tell them that you want the game which doesn't have this glitch, and you send them ur copy and they will send you a patched one
haha this happened to me too :d turns out the knew about this and if u send nintendo a notice they will fix this and give you a new fixed up TP :d happens to like every person that saved in this room
well when you use the glitch to get to that room early after midna is done telling you hes still there, you can go to your map and press up on d-pad to bring the portals up.
Get gecko OS (homebrew) and use an ocarina cheat to warp from anywhere. That's about the only solution there is(besides starting your game over,but you dont want to do that).
First you blew yourself up that was great. Second, the best advice i can give you is just deleting the file and starting over. That seems to be your only option.
my friend had the exact same problem. but she couldnt get it fixed either.... T.T which discuraged her from playing again.the only thing she could do was warn me to not save there :(
I know how to fix it. Ok, ask Midna to warp the canoon, Midna says that Shade is still here. Now open you're map with 1 and let portals appear. ( with up on the D-pad. )
Now warp to Lake Hylia and for some reason Midna will take the cannon with her. :S
i know how to get out: all u have to do is go to the cannon u need some bombs too go inside it then get out a bomb then get fired out of the cannon into the sun then explode then u go back to the place shade is still there it works trust me!

I normally saved on more convinient ocasions like after finishing a dungeon or something I mean...were u that lazy to just warp it to lake hylia befpre u saved so then u could just continue the next day all set to go to the continue the game to the next dungeon
omg...why is the wii version completely inverse to the gamecube version? the whole world is like a mirrors reflection... I know they made link use the sword in the right hand because people often use the nunchuk on the right hand but why change the whole world too????

This is a glitch that they fixed in a later release of the game. There's no way to escape it, and your game remains ever ruined.

well when you use the glitch to get to that room early after midna is done telling you hes still there, you can go to your map and press up on d-pad to bring the portals up.

Get gecko OS (homebrew) and use an ocarina cheat to warp from anywhere. That's about the only solution there is(besides starting your game over,but you dont want to do that).

First you blew yourself up that was great. Second, the best advice i can give you is just deleting the file and starting over. That seems to be your only option.

my friend had the exact same problem. but she couldnt get it fixed either.... T.T which discuraged her from playing again.the only thing she could do was warn me to not save there :(

if u do try to warp out it is probs cos of shad (who is not there) see's you. Go in a place where shad would not be able to see u then warp...

I know how to fix it. Ok, ask Midna to warp the canoon, Midna says that Shade is still here. Now open you're map with 1 and let portals appear. ( with up on the D-pad. )
Now warp to Lake Hylia and for some reason Midna will take the cannon with her. :S

i know how to get out: all u have to do is go to the cannon u need some bombs too go inside it then get out a bomb then get fired out of the cannon into the sun then explode then u go back to the place shade is still there it works trust me!

just one question.....why on earth would you save before warping the cannon???
I normally saved on more convinient ocasions like after finishing a dungeon or something I mean...were u that lazy to just warp it to lake hylia befpre u saved so then u could just continue the next day all set to go to the continue the game to the next dungeon

omg...why is the wii version completely inverse to the gamecube version? the whole world is like a mirrors reflection... I know they made link use the sword in the right hand because people often use the nunchuk on the right hand but why change the whole world too????

I'd say do it near the stairs..someone had this happen and got out somehow...anyway, sadly you're hooped...>> How the creaters and testers missed this i have no idea..my guess is they didn't try and save while in the room like most of us did..
