*SPOILER?* like Sandor, Jamie's one of those characters that's done one truly horrible thing, but in the end they are pretty much redeemed. more so Sandor in his case (i get the feeling under his rough exterior is a very conflicted and honorable man, and with Mycah he was merely following orders).
@Tempusmon Just joking man, and a little trolling haha. I just finished the first book, and I know what your talking about, maybe not to the same extent but yeah I'm alone too.
She should have punched him one last time before walking away... I mean, he just admitted to throwing her son out of a window - a son who is now paralyzed for life!
Everyone says how much they hated jamie at the beginning, but even at the beginning he was my favourite character. I loved his wit and personality, the way he had no regard for the pointless oaths and faiths everyone else was so devoted to. Plus there's no greater fighter in the seven kingdoms
@SuperBundi123 ...her actions?!!?! only thing she did was too try and save her son! and even said:" kill me instead"..why should we hate her for that???
@Barthinater because Jaime essentially disappears during A Clash of Kings, so they moved this conversation ahead in the narrative, so that he can do something useful next season.
Jaime might be a sociopath but you can't help but love any character that doesn't have a god delusional. Makes more sense and it also might even benefit you more to pretend you're as powerful as a god than to pretend there is actually something as powerful as a god out there "watching over you".
@SuperMegaH8ter I want to sincerely apologize for the thousands of people in the world who found you unattractive enough to lead to this mental illness you've found yourself stuck with
@AMpufnstuf By golly well done, that was probably the most baffling and delusional comment response I've ever received, and I've had a Serbian nationalist call me a "weg" (I believe he was ultimately trying to say "wog"). Little fellow, you are a credit to the standards and practices of the youtube commentarait.
@AMpufnstuf Another bemusing statement, I honestly think you have no idea what words are. You must not have a very vicarious social life if your time consists of sifting through youtube to feebly throw insult's that, even you have to realize, come off as blatant projections.
@SuperMegaH8ter I check these comments usually when I get home on the weekends, but whatever makes you feel better about not having an exciting sexual history or visible six pack abs is a fine tale in my eyes!
@AMpufnstuf Yeah sure, you've evidently got a long weekend then. Bored know with the typically youtubeish lies, stupidity, and eternal "so butt-hurt I need to defend my fanboy comment" levels of insecurity, so let me leave a couple points; foremost: learn words, no one has any idea what you're saying. Secondly, it's hilarious when a youtube toolbox who loves pokemon starts talking about "sexual history" and "visible six pack abs".
@SuperMegaH8ter Those are a lot of awkward internet meme type phrases you decided (or instinctively?) put into your lengthy paragraph. I haven't played a pokemon game in years, not sure how much time you so angrily invested in researching me but you'd think you could've kept things modern! Best of luck to you in your journey towards having sex one single time!
@SuperBundi123 I respect your "Jamie Love" because he is kinda hot. But if he pushed my baby off a tower, my first instinct would be to castrate him and send his nuts back to his sister (COD). I never really bought the whole redemption arc. He's not a more enlightened person. He's just not in a position to do anything but tone his shit down a few notches. He's a dick, but no longer a credible threat to anyone. Like those guys who go to jail for life and miraculously find Jesus.
@doodledee1 Definitely respect your opinion, but I have to disagree. I personally think redemption is too strong a word. Nothing can redeem his character after pushing Bran out of a window. Yet, I would argue the later books simply give us a glimpse of the moral ambiguity of his character. Was he a dick in book one? Absolutely. But before that he was also one of the only kings guard who seemed to have a problem with the Mad King raping his own wife and roasting Rickon...
@nocoma12 Stark alive. Furthermore, in killing the Mad King he sacrificed his own honor in order to make sure the Mad King couldn't burn down Kings Landing and everyone in it, despite knowing that many people would hate him for it. One could argue there was no more noble an act to undertake. As such, it is established that Jamie does have some good in him. While this is just a personal opinion, it seemed to me that after meeting Brianne and losing his hand to Vargo, he simply...
@nocoma12 became more reflective and as such began trying to change the way he looked at and acted in the world. His s*** talking he gives the kings guard when he returns to Kings Landing, the fact that he sends Brianne to find Sansa before Cersie does, and his treatment of the Riverrun lords when he goes to end the sieges' in books for and five prove to me that he is more enlightened. Still definitely not redeemable, but trying at least.
@jtilghman3 the Tullys will probably come in next season which i think will be based on Clash of Kings....i also believe the part where Jaime tells Cat about Ned's father and brother will be next season as Brienne was present when Cat visited him that night.
@tikkiturtlegal none of the tullys have been cast yet, as far as i know. I just don't get why they would take one of the best scenes in the book and split it up and do it differently. In its entirety with the talk about Ned's father, and the part about "i seldom throw children from towers to improve their health" its a perfect scene. I like the show a lot but they shouldn't have touched this scene IMO
@jtilghman3 SPOILER SPOILER ---he doesn't confess what he did or talk about the Mad King until the end of CoK when she has Brienne free him, they bumped this part up for whatever reason...SPOILER SPOILER
@jtilghman3 I expect because their long cast list is expensive enough as it is. Unlike in the events of books, shows run on a budget. Also, they have only 10 episode long seasons and have to condense things as much as they can. GoT already has enough split storylines and character POVs to keep up with.
@theu2ba I suppose Jaime was somehow based on Achilles, atheist, not caring for wealth or rule, just about his fighting skills, look at how he mentions "death will come for us all, so why fear it now?" remember achilles saying that in troya?, and that there's no man like him
@Rhulad That scene does not happen until much later in the books. Who's to say Jaime and Catelyn only have one conversation? Obviously, they don't... we have some important scenes later on.
In the books this conversation between jaime and catelyn is one of my favorite parts of the whole series. Its unfortunate they seem to be seperating parts of it as i think it really would work best as one long scene
I am sooo looking forward to the scenes with the 'Kingslayer' and the 'stypid stubborn wench'!! Too bad we have to wait almost two years for some Brienne- Jaime action. And I think that both actors are doing such a fantastic work.
The only thing I didn't like is that they omitted the epic dialogue: CAT: Did you mean for him (Bran) to die? JAIME: I seldom throw children from windows to improve their health.. Gotta love Jaime
i feel like they should have broken jaime's back and then tortured and butchered several of his men in front of him to "chasten" him. see how he liked it
@halofable574 Why would he care if his men were tortured? He would probably sit there and make witty jests as to the toturers effectiveness and technique.
@Gord488 true come to think of it. The whole point I was trying to make is that someone should give these Lannister fucks a taste of their own medicine. I made the comment about his men because when he confronted Ned in Kings Landing he told his guys to kill Ned's men in order to "chasten" him.
They probably wanted to have this bit here for the people that haven't read the books since, in the books, you don't really see anymore of Jaime until quite a ways into the second book.
@whydontyoushootme I was thinking the same thing with that scene with him and Tywin. I was surprised that they did this scene already, which is in the third book. But it does make sense that they are trying to move his arc forward more quickly than in the books. I can't wait to see how they are going to do the second half of this conversation in the show. yeah but this scene is mostly from towards the end of book 2. almost all of the dialogue line-by-line is taken exactly from the book. one main difference is that in the book Cat already suspects the incest between him and cersei (because of Stannis spreading the word at that point), asks him about it and why he pushed Bran from the turret, and instead of dodging the question like in this scene, Jaime basically confirms it for her.
I'm really curious as to how Jaime redeems himself or becomes a likable character. For now I still want to see his head on a spike.
