I saw this live on TV and had a good laigh and giggle. Amazingly performed. I am not British but I do live in Britain and most people wouldn't even guess I wasn't one of the Brits. This song is just awesome and I think, and I believe, that every nation has a right to be proud of its roots.

The proms, in many ways as magnificent as ever, is being gradually dumbed down for commercial reasons in exactly the same utterly predictable and boring way as everything else. Soon there will be very little difference between the proms and Glastonbury. You can love both popular and classical music and still see the merit in keeping the two (wherever the boundary is supposed to lie) separate. So where are the sea shanties ? Get them back on !
@ViDeOMaStErPaUl But in recent years it HAS introduced non-classical music into its schedule (e.g. the music of The Beatles, the James Bond music bond (both of which I approve) etc). As I say, I love both popular and classical music, but if the Proms is going to keep allowing more and more popular music to take up its entire schedule then the amount of purely classical music is going to have to be reduced. Keep this process up and, in the end, it will be no longer be the Proms as we knew it.

Nothing wrong with adding a few songs to spice up the proms after all most of the music is from 1920's and below so some more recent music is a welcome change to everybody.
