@slimTHUGGA412 actually the logo came from a cleveland based steel company, that offered the logo to the steelers. Robert Sexton a employee out of Cleveland-based Republic steel suggested the logo. For awhile it just said steel but in 1963 the team was granted permission to add "ers" to the end of it. It has nothing to do with Philly the info in this video is wrong.
Ok. Now to get really schooled on the Steelers. The logo was put on the right side, at the request of the owner, Art Rooney. You see, Art had the logo created to fit the new name, Steelers. Pittsburgh was a big steel producer and the name reflected it. Art aproached US Steel to see if they could use their logo. US Steel agreed to it and the STEEL in the logo was changed to STEELERS. Art asked the equiptment manager to put it on one side, to see how it looked on the yellow helmets.....
