  • could somebody please tell me, how can i solve my problem with lemon zest? i tried too many receipes for the lemon squares but it always end up tasting bitter because of the lemon zest, i'm using microplan for zesting lemon, but it seems the white pith is coming with lemon zest. please help what to do to solve this problem, thanks a lot.

  • @SweetDreams1430 get a grater.your recipies tastes bitter,beacause you add the white part.you need only the skin.a grater is giving you the yellow part

  • @SweetDreams1430 stop pressing so hard when you zest your lemon, scrape it ONCE over each spot. Try Myer lemons (they are sweeter)

    thanks for taking the time and reply to me, but I didn't press so hard in the lemon, unfortunately we have no Myer lemon in Saudi Arabia and i heard about it on, is it a type of sweeter lemon? maybe our lemon skin is to thin when i zest it it takes some of the white pith with it! next time i'll try to be so gentle with lemon when i zest it. let's see. thank you

  • @SweetDreams1430 Hi :) Yes, Myer lemons are a sweeter lemon with an exceptionally thick rind. I would suggest that you put no pressuere on the microplane at all and just lighly drag or bounce it across the surface ... if you do get the white pith in it throw it away because there is a chemical in the pith that has a bittering agent in it that you just can't hide (that i've found) Here in the USA they have a nail biting ointment for kids made with the stuff.. its so yuck! good luck to you!

    They would not bother making such an accurate reflection on the oven, it is too costly when compare to moving things.

  • Using crumbled up sugar dough just seems kind of pointless. To make the crust yourself isn't really that hard- you just need some flour, butter, and confectioner's sugar and mix them up. You might as well just buy store bought lemon bars then. If you're too lazy to do make the crust, are you really going to make the filling and bake it in the oven?

  • @BXL4ever @BXL4ever Baking is the technique of prolonged cooking of food by dry heat acting by convection, and not by radiation, normally in an oven. I believe your were attempting to insult Americans by not performing the culinary chemistry of combining the ingredients themselves- Which really, following a recipe isn't much more impressive than using a pre-made product. Now creating your own recipe is another story.

  • @BXL4ever Not everyone has the time to make something completely from scratch but they also don't want to always order takeout or buy things from bakeries, etc. so Pilsbury, Betty Crocker, etc. makes it easy for people like that to still be able to "bake" even though its not the "conventional" form of baking.

  • I box cake mix,1 egg and 1/3 oil(give or take)....If u use choc cake mix ,add a tablespoon of water.
