  • You really are a bellend, Yanks you gotta love em! ...well maybe not.

  • I have the same problem in my A4 and a mechanic told me it's the valve lifters,he also recommends to put thicker oil than usual.

  • Haha, I head about this problem from some guy at my barber shop yesterday. Said his gasoline engine sounds like a diesel. He said it smokes when you accelerate. You should have heard all the false info they were telling the guy. They advised him not to go to a mechanic because he would get screwed over. Others told him to change the oil(which he said he had done) and others to buy a new engine. I told him to do a compression test because it might be a bad comp/oil ring, but it could be this!

  • I would have listened to the other cunts than listen to a cunt like you who wanks off to gay porn...... YOU FUCKING CUNT

  • is that a timing chain? i thought they didnt use chains until like 08 or something?

  • @tandaman538 yea the 1.8 turbo has both-a belt from the crank to the exhaust camshaft and a chain from the exhaust to the intake camshaft

  • BMW - Big Money Wasted! Now go out and get yourself something other than more German junk or just turn the stereo up, if it still functions...

  • @Mrphatbastard1 This is an Audi, not a BMW idiot.

  • ALSO. Check engine light came on. Camshaft position sensor. Cleared it, and hasnt came back on but still having oil issue. ANY IDEAS?

  • I JUST bought a car TODAY. 2002 A4 1.8 all the sudden oil light comes up, engine is ticking away, even saw a little smoke coming from left side of engine. Waited a little bit, drove home things were fine. Drove it later and same thing. The seller had the oil changed before i picked it up today, said he told them to use synthetic. The previous owner has never had this issue. What do you think it is? Engine is still hot but dip stick has oil an inch above full mark, to much oil?

  • @xxsekoxx

    hopefully you returned it.

  • @Z2theONA I bought it from a private seller. Had to do full flush and replace oil pickup tube. $1,300. Previous owner paid half. Car is good to go. So in the end i paid 700 more for the car, which i'm ok with because i got a good deal.

  • @xxsekoxx If the car was sold to you "as is" but represented to be in good condition you could have sued and gotten your money back. Most states have buyer's remorse laws which allow you to return a car within 48 hours if you decide you don't want it, not sure that applies to private sales though. I also got a car that has been more trouble than I thought but like you I got a good deal, still need to take it to a mechanic though, too bad it's european.

  • @Z2theONA So... it was not engine sludge it was sealant from the pan that had been previously replaced from being damaged. I talked to the dealer ' Prestige Audi ' in Colorado and they wanted nothing to do with it. He said out of warranty so to bad. The shop that replace the pickup tube did say they used way to much sealant that in turn, got into the pan. So the previous owner paid half, car is running great so i'm happy. STAY AWAY FROM PRESTIGE AUDI IN COLORADO!!!

  • common fault is lack of oil to lifters causing camshafts to dry up off oil try unblocking oil strainer pump and upgrading ur oil filter to a genuine 1 if not got 1 fitted or a performance filter !

  • you people are ridiculous.frickin comment nazi's.frychicken,do you have an oil pressure guage?

  • could a valve remains open

  • I BET u its the valve lifters this happesn all the time in lots of cars

  • 1.8 turbo

  • Is this a HUGE problem, that isnt a big deal or doe it have to be replaced immediaty, Im looking to buy an audi 1.8t and its doing this right here.

  • wdf did u drain the oil out?

  • oil press prob

  • Uh, the engine is fine. I'm sorry if this scares you. It is highly complicated I understand. The engine was, is, and will be OK. I promise. Purring like a kitten right now!!

  • @Fyrchicken so u solved the problem? what was it? I have the same problem in my bimmer plz help

  • what the hell? the cam cover should be on, does this engine have oil in it? you just broke your engine!

  • It would if it has enough time to build more pressure. It turned out to be the hydraulic chain tensioner.

  • Shouldnt oil be spewing iut the top?

  • @7477238 nope its getting lubed via oil slots in the camshaft bearings
