  • Helio Gracie's oldest son, Rorion Gracie, taught him that. Just Saying :)

  • that's pretty legit that they used a bjjj move back then in a tv show

  • @beargrylls3 this was a movie....lol

  • @avanthalfgarde that's pretty legit that they used a bjj move back then in a movie*

    YOU HAPPY!!! lol

  • 25 years later we've come to realize Mel Gibson wasn't actually acting in this scene.

  • i miss mel in movies...

  • Royce Gracie taught Gibson that move. True story.

  • @thesearcher it was acutally Rorion Gracie

  • AND IT IS ALLLLL OVER!

  • like if u jump full of excitement and cheer for mel gibson every time u watch this fight :)

  • Mel Gibson is my man!!

  • That's my fuckin flick neva tired od that shit!!!

  • and he actually studies BJJ

  • Ladies and gentle referee Herb Dean has called a stop to this contest at 3 minutes and 36 seconds in the very first round. Declaring the winner by submission due to a triangle choke, Mel "The Braveheart" Gibson!

  • @mmfm426 I love that LOL

  • Gibson and Busey should do another fight scene today!

  • gracie family helped with fight sequence

  • 03:05 Mel Gibson show BJJ!!!

  • to be honest, how many Americans knew what an armbar or a triangle choke was back in 1988? Give Mel a break lol

  • @Fbsw2 lol yeah probably just the judo guys

  • Fail armbar

  • I love the pelvic thrusts towards the end. I'm going to add those to my triangles and see what kind of reactions I get.

  • Just before the triangle choke was the worst armbar attempt i have ever laid eyes on. ! I could have driven a bus throught the space he left.

  • @VolcanoMr My friend Mel Gibson is not a martial artist. In my opinion we did a perfect fight as an untrained person. The choreographer taught him some moves , this is all the thing .

  • bjj osss

  • what is with everyone... hello! of course that triangle doesnt looks right its a freakin movie!

  • uhm that triangle isn't done properly...

  • @olamprov What were they supposed to do, choke Gary Busey for real?

  • submission of the night!

  • So this is where Helio got it from...

  • @jwalski only thing wrong about the triangle was how gary bussey had posture when he started getting choked out

  • i hate when movies zoom in super close and change camera angles super fast so you cant see wtf is going on in the middle of exchanges...mma has me spoiled

  • Why didnt the police get involved?

  • @k00lkane Black dude told them to stay away, long haired dude was a cop too

  • @k00lkane my guess is the fight between Riggs and Hank or watever is personal and Glovers character told them to stay back and just let them finish watever they started when they both were in the war

  • Like this if you agree this is one of the best fight scenes from a movie

  • Cool he missed the arm bar twice, headlock counter at 2:56 and guard arm bar at 3:03.

  • Mel Gibson rocks!

  • Mel Gibson > Chael Sonnen

  • 5 people got choked out

  • its funny cuz now both of these guys lost their marbles now

  • EPIC

  • why so many likes if there's so many negative comments? just wonderin'.

  • why so many likes if there's so many negative comments? just wonderin'.

  • Tap out or Pass out.

  • I hate this fight scene so much despite liking these movies. I know these films often make fun of implausibility by intentionally injecting unrealistic moments but this one worked against the formula.

    Plus, Gary Busey sucks . . .

  • @WatchMyAwesomeVideo2 What? Are you saying that choke is implausable? Look up Royce gracie

  • @DangerDarf I'm not talking about the fight methods (they're obviously possible despite being overexagerrated by various movies/books/videogames, they work), I'm talking about the movie including this fight scene.

Yes, the film was meant to be unrealistic and would wink at itself just to let viewers know that it was intentional but this moment killed that formula

  • best fight scene ever! (not counting kung fu movies of course)

  • If you listen carefully after mel puts busey in the triangle you can here him saying night night sugar tits

  • Lethal Weapon and Die Hard are my top 2 favorite action films

  • Most realistic fake fight ever

  • Now I know where the undertaker found the idea for his "hell's gate".

  • Who's crazier? Mel Gibson or Gary Busey?

  • Riggs should fight in UFC lol and have murtagh and leo in his corner lol

  • rorion gracie choreographed that scene. epic

  • epic

  • In a fight between Darth Vader and Batman, the winner would be Riggs!

  • gibson's fucking bad-ass in this movie.

  • No way Riggs beats Dalton.

  • @yankeesfan6300 Riggs all the way!

  • i wonder if riggs or jousha could take dalton from roadhouse or casey ryback

  • @metairie33 Riggs would definitely take dalton and ryback!

  • @dannhuff1 i know dalton would lose but ryback he was a monster

  • @metairie33 Yeah i love ryback, but riggs just gets the edge for me, preference of style. Jack Bauer vs riggs would be some fight!

  • I also <3 the strangle at 2:50

  • When I saw this fight for the first time when I first saw this movie, I loved it so much I almost cried XD

  • "Break his fucking neck!"

    hahahaha

  • I'm glad the Gracie family did the choreography for this scene !!!! It made it Sooooo authentic!!!!

  • Thumbs up , if Joe Rogan's podcast brought you here

  • @Farid9090 get fucked douche bag

  • @jwalski : Come on, he's just an actor who didn't even practice martial arts in his childhood!

  • Lethal Weapon 1 Mel Gibson = Good Fighter

Lethal weapon 3 Mel Gibson = SUUUUUCKS AT FIGHTING!!!

  • Triangle choke in 1988!

    Way to go Mel!

  • @jeffduce55 86

  • see gibson miss the armbar at 3:00? really sloppy

  • ive stranged a deer by figure four leg lock before so shut up to the doubters, you eggs

  • @jcrutts ... yeah right... Wrestler fan or...

  • I like that last peak in intensity when Rog asks to "break his f*cking neck", very well built scene up to that climax - and then it's over. "He's not worth it" Also shows something regarding Riggs' character: everything goes apeshit, but he ultimately decides not to cross the line. Great audio too throughout the movie. One of my favourite movies, this.

    -Harri

  • 5 people were rooting for Busey

  • that was cool. i agree with mackhomie. i bet people didnt know what the hell they were watching. lol i was only 4 so i wouldnt know. however, my 4 year old today would know exactly was this is lol thats my boy!

  • ●911 Inside Job and Hereafter (Modified) by richardkoshimzu

    ●9-11 AND STEALTH JEWISH

  • Imagine if Mel had known he was doing Jew jitsu. Would've flipped a shit

  • Would you like a shot at the title???

  • Mel Gibson vs The Undertaker. Who would pull it out first?

  • alot of actors are actually good fighters. just because you dont hear alot about it doesnt mean they dont do martial arts

  • who knew mel would become almost as insane as gary busey just 20 years later.

  • ahhhhh close enough

  • Mel Gibson doesn't really know any martial arts, so you can't expect it to be perfect. Good series of movies though.

  • 2 decades later and mel gibson's scream when busey taunts him at 1:30 is still without a doubt one of the most funniest and unpredictable screams ever !! nobody and i mean nobody expected tht !

  • HE'S DOING IT WRONG!!!

  • Riggs- What do you say Jack? You wanna shot at the title?

Mr Joshua- Don't mind if I do.

Awesome line to start a pointless yet awesome fight. Lethal Weapon FTW

  • 2:18 kaya guruma

  • Talk about really using your hips. Mel Gibson = Black Belt.

    Lol Jk.

  • LOL- glover says "Break his fuckin neck!" he didnt even have that Tri in. when Hollywood makes BJJ. very cute

  • I love when Mr. Joshua picks up the pole and Riggs says, "Wanna quit now?!" lol. Great scene in a great movie. Very realistic looking fight. Both Gibson and Busey were trained in Jiu Jitsu by the Gracie's in preparation for this movie.

  • The technique works by using the inner thigh to block off one of two major blood vessels going to the head, and then using the shoulder and arm of the person to block off the 2nd one.

  • and thus started hollywood's idea to randomly jump cut to show a fight scene.

  • I think Mel is definitely in the title mix

  • It might as well be... "hey let's fight right where this big sprinkler is shooting water on a perfectly clear day."

  • when people first saw this they were probably like "this is so stupid, we're supposed to believe he strangled the guy with his inner thigh?"

  • WoooooAAAAAAAAAA!

  • How did it suddenly start raining when they began the fight?

  • @pratikh its not rain

  • @pratikh LOL, that is pretty funny, but the rain made the battle more epic in my opinion

  • Is it true this was choreographed by the Gracies?

  • @Digressor666 yes

  • @Digressor666 this is very gracie

  • @Digressor666 Yes

  • why does mel's character look like the bad guy in this fight

  • 4 people got triangle choked by Mel Gibson.

  • my responsiblity here?? Does that mean he will pay for the fucking water damage to the other houses

  • what badassery this is

  • I am a pink poca-dot, yellow stripe belt......and I can kill everybody in the world.

  • 3 people lost their shot at the tittle

  • @CNK if you were telling the truth about the shit you say then you wouldnt be angry... Media fucking lies about shit all the time... What makes bj penn in 3 years any different... Besides learning any martial arts starts the time frame for how long it takes to get your black belt becaus they all in someway cross over. Besides belts dont mean SHIT its all about proficiency...

  • It's funny because at that time everyone was like: "Yeah, nice. But, you know, in real life this would never work. It's just Hollywood - fake and awesome."

  • epic.

  • even busey cant handle the mighty triangle choke

  • wtf.....the bjj wasn't even known in the outside of brazil before the ufc started in 1993....how the hell did mel gibson learn it?

  • @d3rfliw : 'cause they worked with the gracies on this fight scene

  • Still have all 4 movies on good ol trusty VHS :)

  • oh well ok now its 3 years. whoopty fucking doo. i was off by 3 months or so.3 years not 3.5

  • Thumps up if u was a kid when u saw this and u train mma after

    damn i was like 9-10

  • They dont make movies as good as this anymore :(

  • youtube: where everyone have blackbelts in bjj

  • Gary busey has a black belt in Judo, most liekely put this in the film.

  • CNK zombie obviously just watches UFC and dreams

UFC isn't even good, Strikeforce is where all the best people are at, and even then, MMA is pretty shit; search 'systema' or 'krav maga' if you want something real

  • @baronvonhardcore ya you little queer. Strikeforce sucks fucking giant donkey kong nuts. only fighters that are good in that shit are jorge gurgel, king mo, dan henderson and jason mayhem miller. oh ya BTW i fucking practice krav maga dumbshit. im also a green belt in BJJ, blue belt in judo, blue belt in taekwondo and im a national greco roman 4th place wrestler. fucking flamer

  • @CNKzombie So how old are you? did you stop training BJJ at 15 and never got an adult belt (A BJJ green belt is only for 15 year olds and younger)? Your clearly not telling the truth abut your martial arts back ground. And BTW the best fighters in Strkeforce are jacare overeem, werdum and Gilbert Melendez.

  • @ben1ben2ben1 some gyms use green as an adult belt. i train at one

  • @ben1ben2ben1 my brother was on my account the other day. im 19 and i have my black belt in BJJ. my brother was on my account is a green belt. and yes we both train at a gym that uses green belts as adult belts

  • @ben1ben2ben1 im 19 and i have my black belt in BJJ. my 15 year old brother was on my account the other day and wrote down the belts he has. and BTW i hate melendez and werdum

  • @CNKzombie That's awesome, dude. Where in La-La Land did you train, exactly?

  • @johmatmarkun haha your funny asshole. actually in reality i train in cincinnati ohio at JG MMA Academy under jorge gurgel and dave mullikin

  • @CNKzombie dave mullikin is not a BJJ instructor (he is a persona; trainer)!!! And your telling me you earned your black belt at 19 (the youngest possible age a black belt can be)? I can count on one hand how many 19 year old BJJ black belts there are in the USA and u are telling me you are one of them? And also jorge gurgel DOES NOT GIVE OUT GREEN BELTS TO ADULTS!!!!!!!!! Nothing your saying ads up. What competitions have you competed in?

  • @ben1ben2ben1 ya personal instrucor. Teaches BJJ and kickboxing. i have a friend who got his black belt at 19 also. and there are more 19 year old BJJ black belts then you think. also its not difficult to earn a black belt in about 2-2.5 years. how do you know that jorge gurgel doesnt give out green belts? ive competed in the ohio grappling challenge, queen city (cincinnati) meltdown, cedarville jiu jitsu challenge and cincinnati jiu jitsu challenge.

  • @CNKzombie 19 is the first year you are eligible to be a black belt!!!!! BJ Penn is called "the prodigy" because he earned his BB in 3 years, and that was with personal lessons from Gracie family members . It was unheard of that someone could earned a BB in just 3 years! So your telling me you and your friend earned a black belt faster? dave mullikin is NOT a black belt!!!! So why would a black belt like you be training under him? Look it up, there are only a few 19 yr Black belts in the usa

  • @ben1ben2ben1 actually he earned his belt in 2.5 years. and i train under jorge gurgel and dave mullikin ive already said that

  • @CNKzombie just stop man!!! Why make shit up? You already lost all credibility when you said lots of people get there black belt in 2 years. It usaly takes a minimum of 6 years to get a black belt! Fuck Rich Franklin has been training under gurgel for like 8 years and he is only a black belt. But im sure your a better grappler then a former UFC champ. Name me one BJJ champ who got there belt in less the years, your full of shit!!!!!

  • @ben1ben2ben1 i didnt say alot of people get black belts in 2 years. i said more people then you could count with one hand can get black belts in 2 years. rich franklin isnt even a black belt. just because he doesnt have one you think that proved something.

  • @CNKzombie so your BJJ is ahead of rich? Roger gracie, Bj Penn, demian maia, jorge gurgel, Alexandre Ribeiro and Jacaré are some of the best BJJ practitioners in the worl and your telling me you got your "black belt" faster then them? Name me one BJJ champ who got there black belt in less then 3 years. And BTW your "brother" (you) is full of shit to! saying he practices krav maga haha

  • @ben1ben2ben1 BJ penn got his belt in 2.5 years. ya my and my brother have practiced krav maga. i did it a couple years ago. he still does it. dont sit here and say shit if you dont know me in real life. panzy

  • @CNKzombie bj penn got his in THREE AND A HALF YEARS (with personal lessons from the gracies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now try name me one who got it in less then three years. Your full of shit!!! you cant get a black belt in less the 3 years!!! It usually takes a minimum of 6! So what was your placing in these "BJJ competitions"?

  • @CNKzombie HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! After a little research i confirmed BJ Penn IS the fastest american to earn a Black Belt at three and a half years!!! Look it up if you dont believe me. So this basically confirms that your full of shit!!!!!!! According to you you earned your Black belt faster then any amarican BJJ practitioner ever. If your going to make shit up make it realistic!

  • @ben1ben2ben1 oh well ok now its 3 years. whoopty fucking doo. i was off by 3 months or so.3 years not 3.5. i dont think he is the fastest american. not everyone is pro. not everyones name is on the web. so therefore he is the fastest PRO. someone else couldve gotten faster

  • @CNKzombie If there was some one who could get there black belt faster then ANY world class BJJ practitioner people would know! So you got your black belt faster then any pro ever? YOUR FULL OF SHIT!!!! And if you are a black belt and have competed in a black belt competition you would be considered "PRO"! so what were your placing in these so called BJJ competitions?

  • @CNKzombie anywhere between 10th place and 24th. and your considered PRO when you become a PRO fighter as your career

  • @CNKzombie Well there has NEVER been a recorded BJJ practitioner (in america) that has gotten his black belt in under 3 years!! Just admit that you are full of shit. Your telling me you got you BB faster then any known BJJ practitioner in america (and possibly brazil)

  • @CNKzombie you still havent answered why you (a supposed black belt) is training under dave mullikin (who is not a black belt). Why would a black belt be trained by a non black belt?

  • @ben1ben2ben1 ive train under dave mullikin and jorge gurgel. ive been recommended by other students. jorge gurgel can promote me. fucking moron

  • @CNKzombie You received your black belt faster then Roger Gracie (4 years), Alexandre Ribeiro, Demian Maia (almost 5 years), Rickson Gracie (the greatest BJJ practitioner of all time),Rickson Gracie and jacare (7 years)? those are the greatest BJJ practitioners EVER and YOU got your black belt faster? You should be training gurgel!!!! BTW your "brother" will be the greatest MMA fighter EVER with all his 10 black belts and wrestling championships

  • @ben1ben2ben1 alright im done arguing about the same shit. have a nice day

  • @CNKzombie hahahahahahhahaha your fucking pathetic to make shit up about getting your nlack belt faster then ANY fighter i named. FUCK YOU and your fake brother!!!!!!!!

  • @ben1ben2ben1 no thank you. im not gay. i dont support. i dont care how bad you wanna fuck me. faggot

  • @ben1ben2ben1 it's obvious CNKzombie never trained in his life. A true bjj blackbelt doesn't go around on youtube and brags about it. He's just a sad troll being delusional that he can become a "ufc fighter."

  • @baronvonhardcore You are a fucking moron if you think strikeforce is were the best fighters are at! Every P4P list in the world has almost entirely UFC fighters on it!

  • Get that shit off my lawn~!!!

  • even the directing in this scene is awesome...i love when it shows the p.o.v. of the cop cruiser pulling up to the fight-scene. feels like GTA's Cinematic Mode.

not only is this the best Buddy Cop movie (series)...i think it also led to Gary Busey being f*cked in the head lol, but still a cool guy.

  • Lethal Weapon came out in 1987.

  • Riggs vs Joshua....definately the best fight in all the lethal weapons. Too bad Joshua died in this one. I wouldn't have minded a rematch.

  • PWNED just like chael sonnen

  • PWNED lol

  • Mel Gibson, proper kicks ass here.

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT, mindfuckkkkkk.

  • Anderson Silva did not deserve that win. FUCK YOU ANDERSON

  • @rearwheelslider

that doesnt make sense at all. why the fuck didnt he deserve the win?

thats a retarded thing to say.

  • @skemeB34 Silva got LUCKY. SIMPLE. In the real world, if there were no rules and rounds, silva would be dead. Literally. So that little fancy triangle choke would be useless.

    Anderson, "THE SNAKE" Silva

  • @rearwheelslider

no such thing as "lucky" in a fight. you lose then you lose. simple.

  • @rearwheelslider No, in the real world Chael would be dead because he would have died from that Triangle Choke.

  • @LiNaK37 Simply not true. Did you see how Chael was banging Silvas head into the ground 25 times consecutively? Yeah, that would have kept going, and silva would be DEAD in about 30 seconds.

Either way. CHAEL did fuggin awesome, and I respect the shit out of him. Let see if Silva has the balls to rematch. He knows he was 2 mintues and 30 seconds away from losing his belt. You know it too.

  • @rearwheelslider Silva would have been dead in 30 seconds? Haha, then why didn't he die in the octagon? Oh right, because you're wrong.

  • @LiNaK37 Im talking in the real world, remember you fucking retard? Get head out of asshole and think. THINK MCFLY. THINK>

Chael would anhialate Silva IN THE REAL WORLD. Just like I would do to your pansy hick faggoty ass. Go eat your moms snatch again faggot.

  • @rearwheelslider Yeah fighters aren't immortal in the Octagon. The sooner you get that through your head the better. Cuuld you tell me what element in "the real world" would have killed Anderson Silva? You can't because there isn't one.

  • @LiNaK37 A LITTLE THING CALLED GROUND AND POUND AGAINST CONCRETE FLOOR AND BARE KNUCKLES.
