Excellent tones, loving the harmonies and scales, I bloody love jazz!!!
I do have one question for any jazz enthusiasts out there though... I raise my eyebrows quite a bit playing my classical compositions... but why do ALL really good jazz musicians talk to themselves when playing? What are they saying haha!? I'd love to know!
this was so BORING.. yeah, just reply my message and say I dont have music taste and listens to Justin Bieber etc. This was boring, just hitting random notes on a piano. Awful. And the reason why Im on this video if you're going to ask, is because I must have a lecture about him in music class. This is not music, not at all. But thats just my opinion.
@TKJOfficial It's awesome! It's the tones that are just great! Some people love it some people hate it, it's still music, and personally, I love the tones, the chords and the melodies he plays. Jazz is a bit of an aqcuired taste though I've got to admit, if you're not into it, I can totally understand how it can sound like a bunch of notes randomly played. But this definitely isn't a bunch of notes randomly put together without thought. I would love to be able to play like this!
Chick is another one of my idols, along with Jimmy Smith. I taught myself Romantic Warrior, a simple song, but with the greatest coda of an ending I've ever heard him write. I transcribed his solo, but I play my own. I taught it to myself, including the entire ending of the song. I've never heard any other piano player even attempt it. It's a shame that the general public just doesn't get it. By the way, most of my musician friends can't play it, either, so I just do it alone. Oh, well.
@blooperjohn When your doodles start looking as good as this sounds, you'll be an artist that Picasso would be proud to call his friend! This may sound a bit like "musical doodling" if you only listen to it on a superficial level... but believe me there are subtle and amazing things going on here on about 4 different planes: this man was one of the most under-rated musical geniuses of the 20th century.
Chic is in class of his own. I have been listening to him from the time I was 16 and got to see him with return to forever in the seventies. Awesome player who surrounds himself with awesome muscians. I have always loved his music.
He is creating harmonics by muting the string with his hand, much the same as you would do on a guitar string. Just a way of playing with the sound of the instrument, really.
I don't know much about pianos- why was Chick holding a hand over some of the= I beleive the term is hammers? thaT were hitting the strings at the beginning?
@richintalent I'm a guitarist but I'll give it a shot- I think he was using harmonics- that is, partially muting the string at a certain length so that it vibrates in a different way (and thus produces a different sound)
@CroissantOrange If you hate it, don't look it up and watch it. Maybe stop smackin' your pud in mom's basement for 5 min, step outside..and get some fresh air. Might cheer you up.

A very overrated Scientologist jazzman who looks like a sex tourist in Bangkok. I hope these kind of white jazz guys, Chic, Al di Meola, them fucking Japanese whose looks are much more elaborate than their playing and shit and whatever the fuck them fusion, world music-esque, new age-y cheap fucking non sense musical travesty go away soon. Fuck this shit.
@CroissantOrange You call THIS new "agey-y sh*t"? What planet do you live on? It's time you compare this with what most people my age listen to nowadays. Models. They can't sing, but if they look really attractive, they're marketed as an amazing artist. It's ridiculous really.
@macsdestroypcs no offense but you have no concept of what new age means. "new age" does not mean "new music", it means "new age", the ambient hippie genre. pop isn't new age, and never will be, since new age is the antithesis of pop. your comparison to pop stars is bogus. this isn't new age btw, but you're still wrong and your comments are uncalled for.
@CroissantOrange Thank you for providing one data point in reminding myself that you can be racist, tasteless, and ignorant, no matter where you are from (you say you're from Vietnam). It's comforting of sorts.
@onegnometorule Another easily impressionable mind slave telling me I have no taste. Guess it's logic because feces like you know about having no taste or taste like shit. And of course for political correct parasites, mentioning how some people can't do something is "racism".
-'Eskimo can't cook gratin dauphinois man",
-"Shut up you racist fuck!".
Well, I guess personal critical mind is something you new age fascist cunts call heresy. Fucking animals think they can converse with men.
@CroissantOrange You wonder what people who waste their time trying to aggravate others they'll never meet are like, other than cowards, obviously. You can say the same about someone bothering to comment, like me. It must be a sad life, probably spent between other geekish endeavors similar to trolling, to derive one's pleasure from 'huh...huh...huh...he doesn't get that i'm just being totally sarcastic and funny.' I guess rl Beavises exist or that show wouldn't have been so funny.

The most interesting interpretation of Armando's Rhumba I've heard. Very cool to hear what he does with his own tunes over time, and how he hears them differently now, 35 years later.
Ah, dang it, I can tell he's making exactly the sounds he wants to make, naturally and perfectly, but they are not sounds I am able to appreciate. I'd love to know what you folks are hearing that I can't.

I love Chick Corea as he is brilliant.....but getting off the subject just a bit.....is it just me or is he looking more and more like Jerry Lewis as he gets older ? I almost invisioned him say "Hey Lady" during his piece (lol) No disrespect to Chick or Jerry :)
@JohnnieRhodes Mick Jagger looks more and more like Don Knotts as he gets older (or a batfish, take your pick) , so I'm sure Chick wouldn't mind being likened to Jerry Lewis.
This man's timing is uncanny. Compare this to his recording of the same piece on the album "Solo Piano". The arrangement is somewhat similar, he uses some of the same ideas (especially the coda) but it is still mostly improvised. And still his timing doesn't falter in the slightest in either interpretation. You could gauge a metronome by his ear. Simply stunning.
@Superphilipp As drummer...............this guy is amazing......................meter is a matter of internal clock, and he has one, maybe 2 or 8,or 11tyseven

You are one heck of a piano tuner, Chick! :-)
Sometimes it's so nice to hear a piano, pure and simple like this. But DEFINITELY not played simply!!!! :-D
