  • who wants to be super skinny? how many men say "yeah i wana see your ribs"?? come on..aim for a tight vagina and good cooking skills and the worlds your oyster...

  • @michael616joaquin it's not about pursuing what men think look good. Don't think anorexia is that shallow

  • I'm watching this again for EDAW 2012.. but i'm worried it's triggering my anorexia...

  • Anorexia isn't just about being 'prettier' or 'thinner' for many girls it's about having control of something in their lives, or even making oneself a smaller target. Many girls who go to anorexia aren't doing it for beauty, but for something they can do on their own.

  • Keira is probably developing a ED. Sorry to say but her answers was like wtf.

  • Just like to say, when I first watched this I was 13 years old, I had never heard of pro ana until then, all I knew was I was unhappy with my weight like most teen girls, so like most teen girls, I wasn't going to listen to the bad things, just that the websites would help me lose weight and fast, I've been struggling with Bullimia for two years now, thanks Fearne..

  • @AvecAmourBelle I hope you're not angry at me for saying this but I advise you get some help with it from a doctor. Life is better when you don't have to worry about your body :) I'm trying to put on weight so you're not alone <3 good luck.

  • 10 years? are you f* kidding me?

  • that brown haired girl sitting next to Fearne- Keira- I wonder how she learned all of that. . . . and idk she seems a little creepy. No offense.

  • haha internet explorer good luck with that

  • *eats sweets*

  • anorexia is not just about 'being thin'. it's about control and having goals and the satisfaction of being able to do something yourself when everything else seems to be falling to shit.

and she is saying a fourteen year old would believe everything some random person says on the internet? when i was fourteen i was not a complete and utter idiot. seriously... >_<

  • youre all being very judgemental. I choose to join pro ana sites AFTER i got diagnosed with anorexia. I didnt want to join the sites and I CERTANLY didnt want to become anorexic. Its just something that happened and took over my life. And now i cant stop. Those who join Pro Ana sites just to find info on HOW to lose weight arent truly anorexic. Theyre just wannabes

  • People on tv never wear seatbelts in car. Now tell me about the influences on people.

  • I DON'T need food. Thanks.

  • @bellafrench06 yes you do. your welcome

  • @bellafrench06 RIP then.

  • OH MY GOD which site is that. I need those diet tips!

  • omg, how I hate her. She is so fake while surfing on those websites and commenting. it wont make anyone happier with such an bitchy attitude.

  • At least being skinny is better than being fat.

  • @YishanTan I GUESS YOU THINK DYING IS BETTER THAN BEING FAT YOU IGNORANT FUCK.

  • @letmechanistsrule hey now, obese people also die you know, from the exact same causes, like heart failure and such....

  • @yugitocome There is a difference between being obese and regular-sized, which is what anorexics think is horribly fat.

  • @TheFremenChick It's just the way he/she said it I thought they meant obese...cuz then neither of them is good o.o

  • @letmechanistsrule Who says about dying? ARE YOU FAT? YOU KNOW WHAT I FEEL? I FEEL FAT! I'm saying, at least being skinny is better than being fat. Fat people get tease. Skinny people don't. YOU IGNORANT FUCK.

  • @YishanTan You're an idiot! Who says being skinny is better than being fat? That's just your blind opinion. Fat people get teased huh. Well I'm being kind of rude right now and I'm not even FAT! Lol, "who says about dying". smh. I never knew that you can live without eating.

  • @YishanTan Skinny people don't get teased? I'm naturally lean, very thin, and frequently would have strangers put a hand round my arm or comment on how thin I was when I was out in clubs etc. It wasn't until I went to a dance school and was dancing for 2 hours a day, 5 days a week that I changed my metabolic rate and gained over a stone. Skinny people DO get teased, get out of your own head for one minute.

  • @Tim751 An amount of a ugliest bones walking around???? No way!!!

  • Is it bad that i'm eaing cookies whilst watching this...

  • @AllysPonAndZi nope, I'm enjoying a big bar of galaxy chocolate right now aha

  • I hate that too! Your not skinny but your not fat, your average. Gee thanks

  • And her weight is far more normal, of course...jkd...

  • triggering much?

  • which site is that xD

  • @BorntobeBravebaby Yeah I kind of want to know too.

  • i saw prettythin! hahah

  • OMG she uses Internet Explorer ! ><

  • @Nokunkun Not only that it is internet explorer on a mac.........

The editor and stock footage ><

  • People forget that these sites can also give incredible support.

  • @Vienna358 who needs support to slowly kill themsleves

  • @princessbabe1313 you need some help

  • I understand, its addictive to lose weight and look more and more athletic.

  • Why do people hate pro ana and pro mia so much?

  • @KittyLuvYou because of the health implications and the promotion of the idea that eating is disgusting

  • @KittyLuvYou its not healthy at all

  • This is the opposite of super size me

  • when they "expose" these websites, they are mostly adding fuel to the fire for girls who are already pro-ana. Anorexics are proud of how thin they are and WANT to find these websites. This is the equivalent of showing meth addicts how to make meth in a Gatorade bottle.

  • anyone knows what the proana site she is on is called?

  • prettythin is a pro-recovery website tyty

  • @creepermagnet01 it isn't! it's full of thinspo tips...I would know, I visit it like 48 times a day...:/

  • @creepermagnet01 I am Also A part of Prettythin, I have some best friends on the chat <3 I love those girls

  • @creepermagnet01 Pro recovery from eating normal? No it's not I just looked at it

  • I find eating disorders very interesting cuz I have no tendency for eating disorders and I want to find out why ppl get ED and how it works. But I know that I'll never fully understand. It's such a complicaded mental illness

  • @AnPeSv trust me, people with EDs hardly understand it themselves...

  • this is VERY triggering. and fearne looks far too thin herself.

  • awkward how im watching this and Im 15. lol.

  • @MissJuicyCathy Cool story bro.

  • Who is calling these kids fat? Don't parents teach their kids to respect others? I'm waiting for the news to tell parents to teach their children respect. News always makes it sound like the viewer isn't doing anything wrong, it's somebody else out there we have to worry about. Hey! Parents! YOUR kids are in school, calling other kids fat!

  • 9 stone-ish??? I'm 13 and I weigh 10-11 stone..god thats scary

  • I am watching this video because i am intrested in documentarys, but wow it does seem mighty triggering, i would never do anything like that though, guess ill just have to so it the hard way *Runs around* XD

  • she is very annoying.

she acts like she sooo concerned, like yeah.

  • haha bullshit! you can tell she's acting 'omigod I'm dreading going on, omigod look how many there are...' yerrrr right like she's never gone on those sites before or crash dieted whatev.

  • Haha I'm on that rainbow diet, the half apple one and so on. :P I actually felt alright, although wednesday you're meant to 'fast' and I ended up binging. :3

  • Damn I just got into a diet and I'm watching this shit FML

  • what a stupid chipmunk , I wonder what would she say to fat people? The same? hypocrite

  • @LobsterPunk Pardon ?

  • Fearne Cotton is the WRONG CHOICE for a programme dealing with this subject matter. She does not understand it at all, is quite patronising/up herself too. There are plenty of other celebrities who've admitted to suffering self image/body issues that would of been a better choice. I would of picked Geri Halliwell as she has had body/self image/eating problems herself in the past and would understand it as she been through it herself.

  • Most kids didn't know about pro Ana until watching your video thanks:)

  • dead bodies

  • I made a CHOICE to follow those websites. Most of the people I talked to did the same. Eating disorders are totally different. I never looked at the photos of just skin and bones because they look really ugly to me. Pro Ana helped me lose a stone in two weeks. Afterwards, it took me two weeks to put two stone back on.

  • ugh she hasn't got a clue about eating disorders

  • did she just say life CHOICE? this woman has no clue. oh and thanks for all the tips!

  • @TheIndieRocker4Ever alot of the people on those websites dont have eating disorders and they try to have the lifestyle. like seriously go on tumblr half of the girls are trying to be anorexic and it is a disease you cannot choose.

  • 0:06 i really don't understand... imagine the mess that is a person that find it pretty

  • @GrapeFruitsable It's really not about "oh that is so pretty"; sure, it starts with wanting to get thin, but it ends up about numbers, about control, about the thing you can fall on every time things go bad. It ends up being a comfort mechanism, and a way to feel like you have control. Getting that thin is just the end result of the disorder.

  • this program was one of the reasons i developed an eating disorder.

  • @xXxMayaBluexXx really why? jw because it makes me relieze i could never have one, guess it just shows how everyone is effected differently by things

  • yeah, she's beautiful already, but she doesnt starve herself to get there. she's just lucky.

  • liar! everyone knows about this or you're obviously really really dumb with no internet access.

  • I feel bad for some of those girls. Those photos are gross.

  • well. this was triggering.

  • @princessbabe1313 Yes. It really needs a trigger warning :/

  • @princessbabe1313 You're going to watch something titled "online anorexia" which has 5 parts and somehow not know that it would be triggering seriously what is wrong with you

  • and that picture they blurred out, is Samantha Kendall a woman who is DEAD from her illness....NOT from being PRO. Stop using REAL people with illnesses for Thispiration! its wrong and NOT something they would condone.

  • Who the fuck uses internet explorer?

Also this is bullshit. You think that doing a diet for a few weeks is going to teach us more than what we go through for years??

  • Comment removed

  • It sickens me to watch this. The fact that young people are subject to such things is truly awful. I can't believe that ten year old said she was worried about her 'big thighs'. Back then, I didn't even know where my thighs were ! So sad.

  • i hate how its all about girls..... men get eating disorders too =/

  • @poney255 90% of patients are female.

  • @poney255 Most of the time men get binge eating disorders. That means they eat too much, but don't purge or exercise it off. But mostly, it's girls that get the underweight eating disorders. (My friends account D=)

  • @poney255 They only make up 5-10% though.

  • @poney255 yeah, but don't most guys wanna be bulky and huge, not skin and bones.

  • @poney255 About time someone says that.

  • Comment removed

  • that young girl named keira to the left [our right] of ferne is worrying

  • @janDICK544 what?

  • @ Michael1Burns cont'd: Heavy people often suffer abuse. This is despicable behaviour & it must be countered. Obese people shouldn't have to endure it. Banning something, though, is a fear-driven reaction that societies often resort to: it mimics decisive action. However, it fails to address the complexity of a problem or even examine the contributing factors. Anorexia, like obesity are prevalent for many reasons. Simplistic torch & pitchfork 'solutions' will prove ineffective.

  • @ Michael1Burns cont'd: More people will die & become disabled by the complications of obesity by far than will do do from Anorexia & Bulimia. Should we shut down all fast food joints? Forbid them to advertise? Should we ban the production of unhealthy fare such as chips & soda? What of the amount of people who'll become alcohol dependent or kill due to DUI? Is banning alcohol the solution? Society tried that. Banning encourages subterfuge & defiance & drives crime.

  • @ lesterclaypool1: I;m glad to hear that your wife recovered from her illness. Reaching our for, accepting & working with others towards recovery takes great discipline, tenacity & courage. Eating disorders do have frightfully high morbidity rates & many people don't understand the danger they or their loved one is in until it becomes visually drastic (a skeletal daughter, for ex.).

  • No no no no no no no no.... websites shouldn't be controlled! The parents should be controlling their children! IT NOT ILLEGAL FFS! People shouldn't be encouraging the collapse of internet neutrality! You can't and shouldn't censor the internet! Im angry.

  • The little girl who seems the most concerned reminds me so much of Neneh Cherry, one of the loveliest women in tye world...inside and out.

The reality of anorexia and bulimia is that they have the higest fatality rate of any psychological illness. If you do not get treatment you WILL die.

If my wife hadn't recovered I wouldn't have her now, and I couldn't imagine life without her.

  • I agree with Fern I think them sites should be banned because the people who go on them 9 out of 10 times they are anorexic so to go on a site like that and be told you are to fat you need to lose more weight could possible kill a person and I think more should be done about it. I I'm 15 and overweight and have bad asthma and I find it tuff to take part in sports because I get laughed at and people do bully me quite badly about it but so I could understand where an anorexic person is coming from

  • Family members become 'sick' by association. Fearful guilt-ridden family members impotently tip toe around the Anorexic person afraid to do or say anything that'll exacerbate the problem or 'trigger' a binge/purge cycle (in a Bulimic). Home life revolves around the Anorexic & even when at work or school, family members remain preoccupied. I'm not saying this to blame the sufferer, but to underscore the fact that this is a very complex condition.

  • @ToND1Ne

In my wife's case her family members were the cause of her illness. When she moved 500 Km away from her family she was finally able to recover.

  • Visit these sites frequently & familiarize yourself with the thinking, the messages & the belief system. Knowing how the mental distortions work is one key to countering them. Anorexia is as much about power & control as it is about extreme skinniness. Food aversion & thinness are the visible 'tools' the Anorexic person uses to control her environment.

  • Fearne suggests banning these websites as a partial solution to Anorexia. Never in history has stifling freedom of speech proven effective. It only keeps provocative issues conveniently out of the sight & mind of those who'd rather look the other way. The tips on these sites can be used by astute parents to alert themselves as to whether their child is developing an eating disorder; esp. the 'how to fool people around you' tips.

  • @ToND1Ne

Exactly. Censorship doesn't make a problem go away, it just drives it underground.

  • I believe Fearne's heart was in the right place but complex mental illnesses must be addressed mental health professionals. Her own photo appeared on one pro Ana website & when she was jogging she looked Anorexic herself. It isn't enough for her to look shocked & say " I don't approve of this". Decrying excessive thinness with her mouth while embodying the skinny ideal sends a contradictory message to her young vulnerable fan base.

  • I hate anorexia but I also hate it wen Otha ppl say there to skinny wen there not and come u guys I would so rather be pro then fat

  • They don't do it for guys. They do it for themselves. They think they're either not good enough or not beautiful, or both, and they think that starving themselves will fix everything. It's a serious problem. My sister's had it for two years.

  • wait is this person famous?

  • those "people" with just bones and maybe a layer of skin on them look like freaks, how can anyone see that as beautiful?

  • this woman don't get a single thing about anorexia i got ed, i've watched 3 damn minutes of this video this is way to much that i can stand. why would you ban the only place where someone totally on his own, lost, sick and misunderstood could have just for a moment some support and some people to talk to. take some psycological lessons guy !

  • In the begininng it for some it begins as a choice then it just increases into a mental vs physical war.

  • This is crazy! I on accident went on tumblr and found these "WEIGHTLOSS BLOGS" and i thought it was crazy!

  • anorexic girls are ugly as hell and only a small minority of guys with fucked up fetishes like them

  • @tallyhoman911 i agree, it's true .. i used to think that a guy's perfect image of a woman is as thin as possible but that is just not true ...

  • @soonsims i can see why some people would think that but it simply isnt true

  • I still do not understand how people can say the any Eating Disorder is a 'life choice'. Why would someone choose to battle themselves inside and out? Why would someone choose to have a voice in their head telling them to over eat or eat nothing or when you do eat you MUST purge/take something to get it out? Honestly, who the hell called it a life choice?

  • Because ruining your teeth and health is a "life choice."

So sad. I hope everyone with an eating disorder gets the psychological help they need to progress.

  • god what a bland show

  • well shes friggin skinny she doesnt understand. I'd love to be thin. Yes, it makes everything better, you get more complements and it seems more healthy. I'm pro ana and I don't give 2 cents bout it. Better bones then fat!!

  • This shit ruined my life.

  • why the hell is she making such a big deal about it gosh!!!!!

  • Thing is, she may not understand and she does say stupid things, but at least she's TRYING to understand us! It's something you can't fully understand unless you've experienced it.

  • one thing to note is that not all "pro-ana" sites actually promote anorexia or other eds. many sites are just a place where people who suffer from eds get support from others who know what they are going through. many are actually support sites and actually help people with eds recover from them. many people can't get treatment, and these sites help them.

  • 9 stone? whaaaat? O.o She shouldn't do this program, I mean, God, I have an ED and my lowest weight was 9 stone.

  • yeah...a young, skinny, successful, gorgeous looking girl in a leopard outfit comes and asks you why you don't like yourself the way you are... very convincing... good job.

  • @isabellehebert

You have it in a nutshell. It's SO patronising!!!

  • @candypink40 Indeed. Truly clumsy.

  • @isabellehebert amen to that!

  • @isabellehebert that's exactly what i thought lol

  • i think the reason shes doing this is because she wants to be part of the Ana's

  • I don't like her AT ALL!!! If you just look in the mirror while chewing GUM for one second, THAT could cause Anorexia! How could she say something like that?! "How can people WANT to go on," ANYTHING could relate to feeling you need control, perfection, or both! Something that could be so simple and so unimportant to you could mean so much to a sufferer. People go on these websites because people like her are reinforcing the message that NOBODY understands! :(

  • I don't like her personality at all.

  • + just cos theyre kids doesnt mean they dont have a mind! ferne thinks its stupid that kids are interested in their body image well shes part of the industry that makes them want to be skinny - the media?!

  • its okay for her, skinny bitch.

  • If that kid doesn't have an ED already, she's on a fast track to one. I hope the producers of the show got her some help, or she'll end up in hospital before she's 15.

  • this woman is retarded. Pro ana and Anorexia is NOT the same thing. Pro-ana is a DISGRACE to people that ACTUALLY have eating disorders.

and REAL anorexics need a place to go to sort out their issues, ones like me that have no where else to go, ones that fucking cant get treatment, ones that need someone that understands to talk to, THATS why sites exist. these pro ana retards are SHUNNED in most of these sites (but of coarse they left that out). Bloody idiots.

  • does anyone know what site she is on at 2:20? "The biggest website."

    What site is it?

  • @FrigidArtic

It's long gone. It hasn't been online since 2009, I think.

  • this is so fucking sad.

  • To all of you commentors who say Fearne is stupid, you are so, SO wrong. I know what its like to have a mental illness and its nasty when people get it wrong but Fearne is not getting it wrong. She wants to help them. It is shocking for her when she sees such extreme things.

  • OMG SHE IS SO FUCKING STUPID

  • @Vivian6220 yeah its a fucking choice isn't it, chronic head aches, hair loss, stopping their period, yellow teeth, brittle bones, suicidal tenancies and constant exhaustion is a fucking choice

YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS SICKNESS DON'T FUCKING COMMENT.

  • @viannafashionwhore Actually, a large portion of Anorexics start off simply dieting or exercising to loose weight. They don't go in thinking how great it would be if they ended up with the bones of a person three-times their own age or any of the other things. So, at first, it starts off as an un/ill-informed choice... but it is still a choice that, for many, begins the downward spiral.

  • this little girl next to fearne looks like a small natalia oreiro...she is pretty in her healthy weight

  • fearne is so cute!!!!

  • Very interesting insight to anorexia in the online mag psycho--therapymagazine

it's found in the search engine. Incredible videos tagged on. I've never seen anorexia like that before; also incredible insight into how to lose weight without being noticed what you are up to by the folks. Dr Julian Fairbanks is an expert on the matter. Great interview he does with Victoria Bekham.

  • How ironic. The 10-year-old black child who thinks she's too big and has already been on a diet is the prettiest of the whole bunch.

  • its a fucking MENTAL DISEASE you idiot. !

People like that are there to not feel so alone in the world. They have NOONE.

You just leave us alone! i don't know where i would be without support of people who know what i'm going through!!!

just because these websites are online, it doesn't mean that people like YOU have to log in. Just keep your nose out of other people business everyone knows you only did this for the publicity. shut the fuck up.

  • I think that she really underestimates how smart teens are and how much they actually know about the world... Just because they see a bag of bones doesn't mean they will want to be ano... Just leave these people and their crazy sites alone and if you don't like them you don't have to log on

  • Noone can understand what it is like to have Anorexia unless they have been through it themselves. You will never fully recover. Pro Ana sites are a safe place where we can go without being told ..Just eat a f*#king sandwich.. it is more than just about weight and appearance. That is a symptom of the psycological trauma going on. Keep pro Ana sites open so we are not isolated & hav a place where we can be understood. When used by the right people .. It is lifesaving!

  • Comment removed

  • pro ana makes girls lovely. nothing bad about it.

  • stop bitching about her. at least she is doing this program.

  • How can being thin be more important than your health? Did you do any research into mental health before this or...? *HEADDESK*

  • lmfao she's so clueless. some of those websites are pretty sad to see, but her being disgusted by some that provide those of us with eating disorders a place to talk and find support... ugh.

  • I dont get why people are trying to get a disease , i know that this is an experiment , but seriously i dont see anyone trying to get the flu .

  • This is BS, leave pro-ana alone. Media always portrays it in a negative light.

  • Why are these anorexic stories in damn england?

  • For starters... "A 14 year old may log on and say This person says I don't need food" Really? How stupid and naiive does she think teenagers are?

And the way that she is almost poking fun and saying how disgusting these people are. Such an idiot.

She need to get her FACTS straight.

  • she's stupid,

  • if you had shown me the way out, i wouldn't have taken it, because i was too scared and thought it was the only place for me. subcultures are everywhere now, online anorexia is just one

  • i think people on this video have ignored the word "online" in the title. online anorexia as in the subculture, not REAL anorexia. i got into the subculture of self-mutilation when i was a teen. i tell you, when i got away from school and the people, it was like my head screwed on straight and i can see the world for what it is now. subcultures are only a way out when you're lost. i was so lost in it i didn't realise i didn't like it and needed to escape.

  • real anorexics are sufferers. pro-anorexics are freaks.
