  • i like how you have made a balance between the pick ups i thought of doing that with my own but it doesn't give a lot of options with the sound

  • I don't favour a myriad of pickup options (like the Brian May guitar). I don't use an amp, so most of the subtelties are lost in the amp modelling hardware I use. But I figured that blending would give me an almost infinite variety of tones from one pickup to the other. he only thing I might add later is a kill switch. With no volume control things could get messy!

  • How is the project coming along?

It will be a cherished heirloom for Lilly and her children one day....

  • We should make some progress this month.

  • kl i wanna c and hear the final out vum and yes that is a very unfortuneate(cant spell lol)name

  • hmm, I bet it'll sound great... cause if it doesn't it'll become a "Who" guitar eh?

  • dear peri

i think that you have a slab of nice quality mahogany there,as far as i can see that will give a good midrange to bass sound when you plane it,check carefully to see what end splits you have, they tend to run-in further than you think..i see that the powers-that-be is consulting the book..excellent it should go together fairly quickly,,,,john

  • Cool. Can't wait to see it finished!

  • Whoa dude!! I've always wanted to do that!! I have all the electronic knowhow as well as the tools, but never got off my ass and tried it. Can't wait to see your masterpiece creation!! You are starting with a great foundation!!

  • Nice one

  • Looks like a fun built. I suppose the routing for the neck pocket with be the most critical task.

  • How exciting! I would love to make my own one someday, or get someone else to piece one together for me... Come to think of it I do know a wood turner! This could be a new project! Thanks for the inspiration Peri! I would like to make something that resembles the Rick Turner Model 1. That's a groovy looking beast!

    Ta.

  • Rofl that is an unfortunate name.

And awesome, I've built computers, but never a guitar.

  • wow, looks like a cool project - good luck and keep us up-to-date :)

  • (-: looking forward seeing you play on it

  • sinse I work in a music shop. I can say that this is a vety good start. look forward to see how it's going.

  • Beautiful naked guiter mmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • How cool is that! Never realised that is how a guitar started out: The block of wood that is!!

  • A friend tells the story of his friend who decided to make a guitar and cut the centre out of his wife's coffee table, covered the hole with magazines, hoping she wouldn't notice... His wife was not pleased, needless to say, when she dusted a few days later.

  • She could have put a large plant in the centre and made it a feature! But I guess it was her favorite coffee table. I suppose it seemed a good idea at the time. The question is did he make a really good guitar or not???

  • I'll have to ask. I can't recall if he said!

  • How completely AWESOME! Your dad must be very talented. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Looking at that block of wood was like looking at a hunk of marble just before Rodin got his hands on it! You can see the guitar dying to get out! :)

  • GUITAR PORN!!!! I love it!

  • very much looking forward to the genesis of your guitar!

  • Awesome, this'll make for intersting viewing - looking forward to it

  • good luck! can't wait to see it :]

Melvyn Hiscock is a veerry unfortunate name

  • i think hiscock is the lastname of a lady that works at my school too :P

  • Ooohhh... Lots of updates! I want to see this project complete. Mahogany, though? Good hard wood for tone and resonance, but HEAVY! The Lawrence pups are nice.

  • Scotty, I need that guitar in two minutes or we're all dead.

  • Can you give us a sketch of the proposed design for this beauty

  • cant wait to hear it Peri, lol you got yer dad to build it.

  • Wow, you are a man of many talents, Peri. So very interesting! :)

  • NICE!! a custom guitar... very cool.

  • How creepy. I was just looking at Electric Guitars. Planning on buying one within the month.

  • Wow - forming the body is going to be a labor of love. Please make some video of the process. A superb hiscock guitar! haha. And then we get to listen to peri playing it - what could be sweeter! Peace :-)

  • oooh~ sweet! looking forward to the result

  • Excellent.

  • Oh my goodness. That poor author and his terrible name. Ah well, I can't wait to see your new guitar.

  • interesting Ive never built my own guitar, but ive alwais sorta wanted to

  • I can also recommend the "Guitar Player Repair Guide" by Dan Erlewine.

  • Great project Peri... I built my own electric guitar once from a second-hand neck and electronics and a plank of wood which had been cut from a railway sleeper. I sold it for a tidy proffit!

  • Can't wait to see it peri! Hehe yes,a VERY unfortunate name!

  • ROFL MELVYN HIScock LMFAO what a crazy assname

  • Is it the first time he's ever put together a guitar?

  • hoo! how great! I hope you can film some of the process, cuting and shaping of the wood! I can't wait!

  • That is great!

cant wait to hear that sound :)

Looks like a nice instrument is coming to life, congratz!

  • Wow, our first glimpse of GrampaUrban...

  • Should be interesting! Can't wait to see you make your own acoustic!!! I'll be watching...
