  • Hi Arto !

Such wonderful arrangement and performance. Very nice as usual !

I have a little question, I have an archlute that I'm not using so much anymore and I'm thinking of stringing it as a theorbo so I can explore DeVisee and friends. Since you have done a similar process, could you give me some pointers on how to do it ? Obviously I have to get a full set of new strings, but should I have it in G/A or D, like you did ? I'm realy inspired to do it now since I've seen you pull it off :)

  • @10stringGuitarist Thanks! Well, if you play solo, the actual pitch doesn't matter. You can for ex take the top g string to the 3rd string. Then you would get a theorbo "in f". Perhaps a little lower would sound better. Why not "in d" when a'=392Hz - as mine. Then it would be in "modern sense a=440" theorbo "in c"...

  • impressionant

  • bravo !

  • Wa il a une grosse bite...

  • @keupon2 merci de fermer ta gueule

  • @burzum21 Et bin juste pour toi je vais l'ouvrir exprès <3

  • Here only the inegalite is absent

  • Well, marching unequally is dancing... ;-)

    Arto

  • are the stephen barber's lute good?

  • Yep, jsaltod.

  • @ArtoWikla everybody say that Stephen barber ies the best!

  • Lovely arrangement. The theorbo looks double-strung to me (I'm counting a lot of pegs). Is it a theorbo in A with re-entrant tuning or an archlute in G?

  • @kkallebb

    Thanks kkallebb! :-)

Single strings, re-entrant tuning in "French" high d.

The instrument is "Théorbe de pieces" in d (a'=392). Actually I have stringed and tuned my archlute (Stephen Barber, 1987) to a high theorbo

  • Do you know Richard Civiol's website? Here you can find free score tabs of many baroque lutenist compositions (E&D Gaultier, Gallot, Dufaut, Mouton, Dowland, Weiss, and many others) in downloadable pdf files.

    Good luke and best regards.

  • Yep, I know Richard's wonderful site! Very very good!

  • Hello Arko, congratulations to perform as well R De Vizée arrangement of Lully Opera tunes. Today, most of them isn't published even in France. Are you the new Robert De vizée transcribing successful Lully's tunes.

  • Thanks! Well, I've done still only one to theorbo, some more to 10-course lute. So far from de Visee... ;-) Perhaps I'll try to make some more - Lully's music is so good!

  • beautiful

  • even a turc can't ceremony better than that congrats!

  • Thanks weberstahlherz,

I appreciate your comment -- especially considering your own origins...:-)

    Arto

  • wow jesus wat the hell is that beast of a instrument its huge awsome i want one cool :P

  • haha, there are even larger theorbos than that lol

  • cool that just makes theobos even cooler there H-U-G-E

  • Thanks Rosy, J.C. and Jamie! :-)

It is really hard to try to join the company of de Visee in arranging the gems of Lully! Unluckily - as far as I know - Robert de V. never made any arr of this Marche. So I really had to make my own, because the Lully piece is so hypnotic. - it really is hard to quit starting from the beginning again and again .. :-)

    Best,

    Arto

  • A very good arrangement. And great playing.

    Thanks,

    Jamie

  • Wonderful interpretation, thank you very much Arto!

    Good Sunday, my friends, Rosy.
