I love this song but it makes me feel so guilty. I was going out with a girl, we were both 19, anyway we fell out and she seemed keen to make up and get back together, I just wouldn't do it, we had fell out a few time previously and I was determined that was it!. She would phone me, in tears wanting to make up and I was horrible, not nasty, just determined not to give in.
Her Mum phoned, her friends, I was cruel.
I recognised her older brother last year, got talking to him and guess what?
@chancergordy, immediately. we embraced each other straight away, we hugged for ages, she was sobbing with joy, I was sobbing because I took an erection and it was jammed against my knee cap! She told me how she'd never forgotten what I looked like,. A face like a young Eric Roberts, a stud who could outlast a duracell bunny on viagra with an organ bigger than Klaus Wunderlich's!
which was a pity coz I ended up looking like Albert Tatlock, an old, boring fart!
There's this girl who i fell in love with at first sight, unfortunately circumstances mean that i'll never get the chance to tell her. how i'd love to sing this song to her.
heard this tonight on the radio and had to look it up, no idea it was the korgis. don't remember it from when it was out, tho no doubt would have worn out the C90 it was recorded onto, if i had! hahaha
One of those songs that just tear at your heart strings. I love the Korgis and that has to be my all time favourite, it reminds me of happier times when I still had my brothers. I had never actually watched them perform and it was a nice video, fond memories of the 70s and a fantastic group. RIP Pud and Neil x
James & Andy's main band was Stackridge . They are still going ! On tour in the UK in the spring & for you Americans - they will be on The Craig Ferguson Late Late Show soon !
Living in the U.S. the Korgis didn't get much attention here. I bought an import of their greatest hits and was surprised how many great songs they recorded. This is a great one.....too bad it wasn't given any play here.
This song takes me back to a time when my life was uncomplicated and I was somewhat innocent. No facebook, no Youtube, not twitter, just TOTP and the charts on Radio 1.
One of my all time favourite songs. I cannot understand why it's so underrated.
I have never heard this on the radio for 30 years, and I find that incredible to believe, but it's 100% true. Any radio DJ's out there, please explain !!!
James Warren & Andy Davis - 2 of the UKs greatest song writers. Apart from The Korgis hit singles & 2 albums , they have also recorded 7 albums with their main band Stackridge, all packed with fantastic tunes . Bonus ? They are still out there playing live in the UK with a 7 piece band.
love this one, brings back sooo many memories of my mum who sadly passed away six weeks ago to the day,she used to play this all the time wen records was the only form of music everyone listened to,mis u mum.god bless you.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Transports me immediately back to the summer of 1979 when me and a mate used to sing it about a girl we both fancied but didn't have the bottle to do anything about. Well we were both only 13
@mattaddick Ah, the summer of 1979 eh ?. What a time to be 16 years old. Tubeway Army 'Are friends', The Police 'Cant stand losing', B A Robertson 'Bang Bang', Boomtown Rats 'Dont like Mondays', Cliff 'We dont talk anymore', Ian Dury 'Reasons to be cheerful', Sham 69 'Hersham Boys', Joe Jackson 'Is she really going out with him' etc etc
@TheKenfig - you're dead right '79 was a great year for music - the other songs I'd add to that list are 'Up The Junction' Squeeze - 'When You're Young' - The Jam 'Back of My Hand' The Jags - listening to this song again I'd say it is very inspired by a certain Mr Lennon - shades of Number 9 Dream and other stuff from the Walls and Bridges era
@mattaddick Oh yeah, I'd never have enough space to mention them all so I just said a few from the summer ; there was 'Accidents will happen' by Elvis Costello too, 'Boys Keep Swinging' by Bowie, 'Night Owl' Gerry Rafferty, 'Dance Away' and 'Angel Eyes' by Roxy Music, 'Beat The Clock' by Sparks, 'Lone Ranger' Quantum Jump, 'Sunday Girl' Blondie and 'Voulez Vous' / (a different) 'Angel Eyes' by ABBA all during that summer too
Oh sorry, I posted that comment on the wrong page! It should have gone on the Living by Numbers by New Musik page. I must have autoplay on or something. Sorry Debs.
I love the way the bass player can't even be bothered to pretend he's playing. He doesn't take his left hand out of his pocket once. Maybe he's searching for some change to tip the waiter.
Wonderful. British music at it's absoulute best. The Korgies music really stirs the emotions and gets you in the heart..my favourite band of all time. Just listen to those strings.wish I could get the same sound on my synths, music dosent get any better than this. LOL.

@laramut. sorry! left it hanging there to see when someone would react!
Well, I introduced myself to her brother but he hadn't a clue who I was, when I told him he vaguely remembered me.
She's married with 2 kids and stays about 30 miles away in Kirkcaldy.
She's fine and her brother will say I was asking for her when he sees her. Haven't seen him since.
Alternative version. Well. turns out she worked there too so her brother phoned her to come and see who was with him. she recognised.me..

I´m so sorry, dear friend ;-((( really!
But the reason why is-I got the original 70s clips from a friend at BBC-before they were destroyed by them.
Before and after the music there were so crazy comments of the DJ-that I cutted them all out.
That´s the only reason.
You may look at Jordisarda right above-it´s only a picture show -but I think the song´s got the full length.
