You don't need this tool; all you need to do is "twirl" the tick with your fingertip and it comes right off! My vet showed me this trick and it has worked every time. Good to know when you live in the woods like we do...
i cant figure out wtf i found in my hair and im trying to look at all these tick videos to see what im finding but nothing looks exactly like what i found. and i found one in vancouver on my vacation but i had someone check me and i came home and found 3 more! WTFFFFF
the funny part is its not the correct way cuz wen u twist the tick it can twist the body away from the head as showen in this vid wen the tick was takin out and there was sme black stuff coming out of the tick it is your blod and the ticks guts....
um just so u know the tick twister is better because the black stuff you were talking about is the ticks mouth parts. not being rude but my moms a nurse and thats what she said. sorry
My dog had her first tick (yuk) tonight and I looked on the internet and several people said to keep rubbing your finger round and round to make the tick feel 'giddy' and it drops off and I tried it and it came off within about 20 seconds.
It left a small red mark and a bit of a lump but I bathed it in some TCP and I hope it will clear up OK in a day or two.
If you use something heated, or anything that irritates the tick (like vasoline, alchohol, ice, etc.) it makes the tick regurgitate into the victim...increasing the chances of the person/animal getting Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Bartonella, etc. The best way is to use small POINTED (and non-textured) tweezers, get tips as close to the skin as possible, and gently pull. Only then use alchohol to clean area.
Of course people get ticks too. If you life anywhere with tree or long grass you can get ticks. Every time you're outside where you can get ticks you should have a buddy check you for them. Deer ticks in particular are nasty, tiny things with the largest risk of carrying Lyme disease.
You've probably just never noticed or checked for them before. After they fill up on your blood they usually drop off on their own, but best to get them off quickly and safely.
It depends on where you live. If you have snow in the winters, yes they hibernate, (or just die out and the young come out in the spring, I don't know.) but if there isn't any snow, or cold weather, they usually are alive all year 'round. Happy hunting.
is it true that if the tick gets ripped off and the head stays under the skin... it grows back under the skin? I could look up facts on the tick but I'm just a little lazy.
NEVER light a match to remove a tick! Use tweezers to pull out and get the whole tick, send to Igenex for testing of Lyme, Bartonella, Anaplasma, Ehrlichia, Babesia or don't and you will be bedridden for life. Look up video here Under Our Skin for what tick borne diseases do to a person.
Help me!I don't know wat insect bit me at the park...I am not sure whether a tick but the bite is swelling and lots of dots have appeared on my leg....its a small black dot insect...its size is about a black dot from a pen...Is it a tick...how to cure the bite?
omg!...i super want one of those...i have beeen told that they are becoming super commom where im forn now...we have lotsa deer ticks comin' onto humans and dogs...and i'd be super scared to get infected! so thanks!
i need one of those for my dog... and my dad, maybe t the whole family, the Ticks are really spread, we have alot of them here in sweden too, disgusting :/
if the head of them was still in the cat maybie....but alls the head will do will swell up and if it does just take that cat do a vet and have the head of the tic removed....sence the head is disconnected with the body it will not be infected for a couple weeks but by then u would be able to tell because it would have swelled....i think the way u did it was the best way personally, just make sure the head is with the body when u pull them out......k?
Well i got this in the mail the other day and today my pug got a DAMN woodtick! And i used the Tick Twister and it work awesome!!! This is the best tool i have ever used!! It works just like the video!! The tick just came wright off!! If you are thinking about getting this you should i highly recommend it to everyone!!!
I bought mine on ebay for $7.25 it didnt come yet but i will try to post something about it. It looks like a good tool. My pug had 5 of them on him today!
Mouthparts comprise 2 chelicerae (cutting tools), 2 palps (limbs with sensory organs) and a hypostome, (barbed tube that anchors into flesh of host). The chelicerae cut into the flesh of host, hollowing out an area of tissue, which is also dissolved by enzymes in ticks' saliva. As chelicerae cut into tissue, the hypostome is inserted. Barbs then anchor into the tissue, securing tick in place. Blood from ruptured vessels then fills the hollowed area of tissue and is sucked up into tick's body.

this looks like the best toy since slinky.
fun for the whole family!
i'm gonna order these right now & as soon as they arrive i'm stripping nude & going to play in the dumpster with the stray cats.
although until then i'm terrified of ticks coz this ad is telling me there's no safe way to remove them accept with this thing.
p.s as an animal lover i think it's beautiful that it doesn't kill the tick. that way it can be safely released back into the wild.
