  • Well shit, how old am I, remember Todd Rundgren from way back then, crap I feel old!!!

  • Todd KiKKs arse

  • What ? Kikk butt!!!!!

  • in the day kikk then and now

  • Stewkey is one of my favorite people. I'm from Philly and I have friends that are in a new version of The Nazz. Everyone thinks that todd did this by himself,he did not. Stewkey was and is a big part of this.

  • Todd Rundgren and Nazz was the 1st Grand Funk Railroad.......too bad they didn;t last as long........Todd's best song, "Hello It's Me"

  • I don't know why...

But, I remembered certain song of The Buzzcocks. Of course, this tune is a very cool. Thank you very much for upload. I'm sorry for poor English.

  • @shinyaeh77 Which Buzzcocks song?

  • @nightliter Name of a song is nothing left.

ok, I think I should go to the Department of Otolaryngology.

  • @shinyaeh77 Ah, thanks for pointing me to that excellent Buzzcocks song. I agree my friend, the tunes are remeniscent of each other in tones and feel.

  • Being from Philly, Nazz were just one of a number of outstanding bands back in the day. We had Mandrake Memorial, American Dream, Good G-D, Sweet Stavin Chain, Elizabeth and don't forget Good News with Michael Bacon (now performing with his brother Kevin), and many more.

  • stupendous. the nazz were one of my faves as a 12 year old kid. they still are now. love that maniac behind the drums.

  • The 50,000 copies were red, however there were more red than black copies pressed so the black ones are rare.

  • Nazz where heroes in my neighborhood. And this was my favorite song of their's. Great to hear it again. "It comes in sheets from your eyes!"

  • Simply brilliant!

  • My brother had a BLACK copy! This lp changed my life forever. I think the hash had something to do with it...

  • NAZZ is a PHILLY band ! They loved the Who & Cream !

  • Great drumming!

  • from Philly

  • This drummer sounds alot like Ginger Baker

  • Si el LP era de vinilo rojo.

Súper loco para esos años y su rock era diferente a los que sonaban en ese tiempo.

Si Nazz hubiese tenido la tecnología de hoy, sonarían como dioses.

  • The drummer should have joined The Who when Moon died.

  • In l8r yrs Todd tended to play everything on albums. He was an egotist, and a recording technique snob. Which, in these cases, (for us) was a good thing. I wouldn't be surprised to learn he played drums on this cut.

  • @bongeoz01 No Tom is playing drums on this track for sure....but Todd did sing most of the tracks on Nazz Nazz and the producer had Stewkey sing them over and erase Todd (they only had so many tracks in them days and they were all usedl) Todd didn't like that at all and that was the beginning of the end for Nazz !!!!!

  • best drum song ever. try and name a better! can't and won't happen!

  • Album had a red record in it. Was ya'll's? Thanks for tha music.

  • @2cexplorer

    Yes, the vinyl was red.

  • @BritIronRebel

yes, my vinyl is still RED...

  • @2cexplorer Some were red. Some were black.

  • @2cexplorer Actually, there were more RED vinyls made than black. So if you have an original 1969 version of this with black vinyl, you have a collector's item.

  • Todd is Godd

  • go upper darby

  • Nirvana of the 60's?

  • An influence for Grand Funk Railroad sureley, great band.

  • the Nazz could be one tough sounding band...seems like they had this "flash" guitarist by the name of Todd Rundgren...fell offstage in El Paso, broke bones, and kept on playing...

  • Drums much? What a crunchadelic classic. This one's been stuck in my head for 40 freakin' years. Thanks for posting.

  • Mooney's wearing it out ain't he? Sure they listened to Cream and the Brits but this is 100% American soulful rock.

  • the man had high octane coffee for the drum solo....and then some

  • I was lucky enough to see Nazz live in '68 at the Cafe Au Go Go in the Village. Had to be one of the most kick-ass shows I can remember. Todd in a bright pink jump-suit. This song was the climax of the set!

  • thom mooney kicks ass. some of the best drumming of all time. what a groove !!!!!!!!

  • Still a classic...one of rock's most brilliant bands of all time

  • The drummer is brilliant. The whole song is brilliant.

  • The guy beats the crap out of the drums, like nothing I've heard before.

  • Go Philly!!!

  • io lo conosco!

  • SERIOUSLY slamming tune...!!!

  • I recall from the liner notes of an 80s era best of the Nazz LP (one of those Rhino compilations), that this song was influenced by "Jumping Jack Flash."

  • I think I know where Queen got one of their early influences from.

  • Agreed ... though I hear a "The Who" influence here ... no matter ... the song kicks ass

  • Golden !!!

  • This is what rock'n'roll is all about!! Absolutely love this song!!!

  • Was Rundgren from Cheltenham or Upper Darby area? Drummer owns this mutha!

  • Upper Darby....

  • @BritIronRebel He didn't particularly have a good childhood, and got the hell outta there as soon as he was 18! (I don't think the PLACE itself was disliked by him though.)

  • See Tony Newman Atomic Rooster. All Brit rock drummers had jazz chops before playing rock/blues

  • True....also: Ginger Baker.

  • Without a doubt.

  • @BritIronRebel

reminds me more of Bonzo, than Ginger

  • @johnicester

    More Moon than either ;)

  • @johnicester

We were not comparing styles.....just stating that many Brit rock drummers cut their teeth on jazz.

Baker was a jazz drummer first.

  • @BritIronRebel Mitch Mitchell!

  • @giacblanc

i believe all these guys (Nazz) were from Pennsylvania ...none are Brits!

  • I love how it starts lol

  • being from Philadelphia, we always loved these guys. todd rundgren stated in a local philly band called woodys truck stop about 1967, when rock started taking off here. he loved all things british, notice their attire, when most american rockers were wearing blue jeans. this song really kicks ass, in my humble opion in their top three.

  • * in my humble opion in their top three

Totally, totally agree phillyfirst. The first song that pops into my mind if I hear the name NAZZ is UnderThe Ice. I remember the first time I ever heard it. It was a at a friends house and he plopped a headset over my ears and said " listen to this " and cranked it. I was floored.

  • Woa -where did you sse this .Had this recording in 69/70 and tore it up,The orig. red vinyl.. He is great on the whole record...really admired his drumming then & now ... Heard he married RITA COOLIDGE...?

  • Thom Mooney's drumming is phenomenal! I've encountered him recently playing with a bar band and the guy is still unbelievably, untouchably talented! Why the hell hasn't someone scooped him up!!!?????!!!

  • Tell us where we can see Thom!

  • He's playing with a band called "South Side Popes" now in the Washington area. Check out "southsidepope" on myspace.

And yeah, he does own this sucker ;)

  • A seminal tune from the 60's. This along with "Open my Eyes" perked sharp ears of kids like me.. 15 at the time, 52 now.

How good were they? Rundgren was great right outta the gate.

  • @cttxlv yeah...meridian leeward and under the ice really caught me attention. i'm 53.i haven't heard this stuff since about 1970!!! boy, it sure take ya back, don't it!!

  • @cttxlv

    he's still GREAT!!!!
