definately my favourite horse to watch :) they're so beautiful and elegant and you can see how much they share a bond with their riders :) It amazes me how people can claim its cruelty when much of this is the horses natural instinct !
@Supertomiman yes they are born charcoal and fade to silver. these horses are trained over such a long period of time they are not considered broke untill they are in their late teens. they are so patiently and systematicly taught that they retain their individual personalities--very evident if you have the pleasure of watching them live.
These horses have been dancing for centuries. They are proud animals by nature, all the human has done is bring out their natural abilities. I agree that ignorance will always condemn this art as cruelty. The Lipizzaners and their riders/trainers are bonded. This School is so famous they could never afford the scandal of cruelty.
Of course they love their job! That's why only very few breeds do this, because this breed has the mental and physical capacity for it. Good job guys!
I have no idea what the 11 people who "disliked" this video were watching, but I feel priveleged to have seen it.
Instant Favorite.
I had the honor of training with a recognized student of Karl Mikolka for over a year. These are the best trainers of horse and rider in the world. They don't even start the horses until about 5. This isn't like "dancing with horses"(for all the dressage queens reading) These are cavalry trained mounts from the baroque period. These are Beautiful Warhorses.
@toti021 What on earth are you talking about? These are among the most pampered animals in the world. The men who train them do so with the most gentle touch of any horse trainers in the world. If you look at this and see "abuse", the problem is with your eyes, not the Spanish Riding Academy. These stallions are so well treated, conditioned and trained that some are know to perform into their 20s.
@toti021 Here again you exhibit your total lack of knowledge. Having absolutely no idea what constitutes horsemastership, you attack a piece of tack...in this case, the bits(not bit). So then by your standards, the mark of a good soldier is that he marches without his boots. Shall we also insist that the horses perform without shoes? As I said, for a person such as you to pass judgement on the Spanish Riding Academy tells me we're living in the Age of Ignorance.
@toti021 That only means you know nothing about these animals. What is the 21th century? Rodeo's? Kid's abusing ponies by pulling the reins too hard? If you don't know what you're talking about than don't. You could only wish all horses are being taken care of like these horses are.
I know vera well what i'm talking about though i've read about bouth the effect of the bit and the way the horses holds their neck and head. No idea how to translate that to english. I will gladly accept all os this whan they can do it with just a rope around their neck.
@toti021 Do you know Lippizaners? Probably not, otherwise you would know they can be ridden without a bit and they still their heads like that. Holding it like that means they're relaxed and they use their back as they are supposed to do.
@toti021 You've read about it? Have you ever ridden a correctly trained dressage horse? My dressage horse is pampered, loved and doted on, and yes I use a bit. When I tried using a bitless bridle, he became VERY irritated, and then quickly downright angry (and trust me, an angry Spanish horse does not look like the ones in this video!). He seeks contact with the bit, as he was trained by experts to do. No one can force a horse to do this. The beauty is in the harmony.
@toti021 So what about that rider on your video? What is she doing on that pony? It's the 21th century, you should know better than that. Or do you think that pony goes around jumping fences in the field when it doesn't need to? I really don't see the difference other than the riders of the Spanish Riding school are doing a much better job and take a lot more time.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I don't like this at all! This is mean and not right! These kind of riders make me sick! Why would anyone want to ride like this?! You guys are hurting those horses mouth's! If I was one of those horses I would start bucking and kicking out of nowhere and start gallopping around the arena. Thumbs up if you agree with me.
@Whomisthatcat98 And I suppose you don't understand anything about riding? The Spanish Riding School teaches Classical Dressage. There is nothing mean or cruel about proper Classical Dressage, in that they strive for the horse to do all the work themselves, and that they work towards a self carriage (meaning you could take the bit out of their mouth and they will still stay in somewhat of the same frame. Also, with this breed, you cannot force them. If they are unhappy, they will let you know
@Whomisthatcat98 It would help if you had the slightest idea of what you were talking about. Most of the horse in this video were frothing at the bit which means they are RELAXED and extremely comfortable. Dressage judges and trainers look for that as a sign that the horse feels happy and relaxed in their workout. Maybe you should spend a few hours around real, live horses in training...before you start passing judgement on the best trained horses and horsemen on the planet.
@countrygirl999999 actually if you watch the handler he's moving his hand up a few times signaling the horse to do the jumpy kicky thing Im not quite sure of the name for it...
There is nothing more beautiful than true horsemanship, taking the time necessary to truly train a horse and carry himself and his rider, and the amazing partnership of horse and human striving to work together in harmony. If only more Americans and American disciplines could learn to treat our horses like this, we'd have some amazing athletes in our country.
this to me arent ''dressage'' horses so much as old time war horses..when horses served a purpose other then toting their rich little rider around in her sparkly shirt
Actually, I have had the honor of working backstage on the rare occasion that the Spanish Riding School itself toured the US. No one is forcing these wonderful horses to do anything. I can say for a fact they are the best tended animals in the world (you could eat off the floor of their traveling stable and their home in Vienna) and they are EAGER to get out and perform. One of the riders told me "Old riders train young horses. Old horses train young riders."
@angelgirl7473 What is the life of a ´normal´ horse? Being ridden by a kid? Being used as a draught horse? Being abused? These horse have a great life and even have vacation time. Yes they work, there's nothing wrong with that though. They get the best care, the best stables and the best fields to live on. I think a lot of horses would love to live a life like that.
I did visit the Spanish Riding School in Vienna but unfortunately I went in August when the horses are on holiday. It said on the door that they go to a farm somewhere just to relax and enjoy some hard earned rest. They're beautiful, I'd love to go back to watch them perform.
@lppoqql also, may I point out that ballet dancers also excrete, just like horses, and without a wash and a shave are also dirty and hairy. In case you had some strange misconception that we mammals have nothing in common with other mammals.
@lppoqql the fact that you just said that is amazing. how can you not see the similarities of ballet to dressage? i hope you know that ballet derived from dressage?
@thebluebot Ballet is performed by a beautiful and graceful dancer, this here is performed by a stuck up bitch, riding on a smelly animal, which is more graceful? you tell me.
@lppoqql HA! you think ballet doesn't have stuck up ballerinas? wow, that's like saying Barack Obama is white! Truth is, my young arrogant Canadian friend, there are stuck up people everywhere. I not only compete in dressage but i also do show jumping. I have personally lived with more people that you are describing than i can count. But do i act that way?no. do my friends act that way? no. my friends and i would rather give you the shirt off our back than act like a bitch.don't be a stereotyper
@thebluebot my old crazy French friend, if you are so down to earth why do you need to ride an animal? and force it to repeat movement patterns at your will. I bet you ride a male horse too, you are basically a master at male castration and submission. I cant imagine how much it would suck to be your boyfriend LOL......... anyways if you love art so much why dont you use your own body to create art? why use a smelly hairy animal, is that really art? or personal domination ego? SM much?
@lppoqql its more so of the bond you have with the horse that makes it beautiful. The horse is such a powerful being and to be able to be equal to it, which is what they are demonstrating, is an amazing thing. for some people its about domination of the horse, but for me and the wonderful riders showcased in this video, its about treating the horse right but still being respected. and lets face it, if the horse didnt want to do it, he wouldnt do it. hes bigger than us.
@thebluebot I think there is a deeper more sexual thing with you "horse" riders, its all about the dominance and submission, the power to dominate a powerful animal....................... so lets just all agree its not really about art or grace, its about riding a huge penis :) ok? great!
@lppoqql hahahaha thats actually really funny. the fact that that's all you can see just shows how perverted your mind is! honey thats your mind dreaming that up, its not why we do it. this sport is obviously too advanced for your tiny brain to comprehend, all i can wish for you is to successful life and that you find a spouse as equally as stupid as you so you can maybe hold a conversation with them :)
@thebluebot LOL, calmdown I'm in Mensa, you ride a smelly animal and call it art, I guess we all know whos the more "successful" person is now, its ok, truth is hard to face.
@lppoqql hahaha more successful than i? that's kinda funny. Mensa, that's funny. pretty easy to get into. i guess your intellectual capabilities aren't that high, good luck in life my friend :)
@thebluebot LOL, dont be angry, IQ is a good predictor of success, someone who rides dirty animals and live in France indicates low IQ, isn't your country bankrupt btw?
@lppoqql hometown france, current country germany. Time to learn how to read :) Ah who cares, i lived in saint tropez, nothing touched us there, unlike canada :)
@lppoqql Yeah, because living in France means that someone has a low IQ...if that is true, then you were born, bred and raised there, right? Because @thebluebot sounds like the more mature person here, you sound like a petulant little child who knows virtually nothing but who is trying to make up for that fact by making stupid and immature comments. You don't like the damn video, fuck of somewhere else and leave those who can appreciate art to watch the video in peace. -_-
@templarknight94 stfu you dumb ass little kid, your born in 94, you are still a little child you dumb ass, go hit puberty before you talk shit to me kid. and yes people who are in France AND Ride a dirty animal and call it art are idiot. Templarknight? wtf are you going to do? shoot me? just like your right wing racist brother in Norway did?
@lppoqql My point exactly-I mean, you're obviously as thick as two short planks, I'm 17 and I can speak better than you. There's two things, and they are called grammar and punctuation. Civilized people use them. I'm not talking shit to you, I'm merely telling you the truth.Don't like it?You know where to go. Bury yourself in some little hovel somewhere and pretend you're a decent human being. Oh, and you mentioned my age and told me that I was a kid...well, some role model you are then, right?
@templarknight94 LOL, what a dumbass little kid? what? being a internet grammar Nazi??? hahahaha, you must be beat up in school for being a little nerd dont you? That fits your little knights Templar image well, I guess riding a smelly animal is "civilized" ??? Wow I never knew that. Oh, btw, go learn some fucken English before you pretend to be a grammar Nazi kid, you know what irony means? LOL
@lppoqql And above all, not only are you unintelligent when it comes to the English language (and horses), but you obviously know nothing about history. My username has nothing to with that fucked up bastard in Norway, nor any other event like it. I chose my username because I have a fascination for medieval history, and I couldn't think of anything else at the time. What's yours for? Was it meant to spell something legible?
@templarknight94 Hey seriously dumbass, go LEARN ENGLISH KID, what a sad kid dont even know English and pretend to be a grammar NAZI? hahahaha what a dumb nerd
@lppoqql I am English. I was born in England, I was raised in England. Plus, I'm an English Language and Literature student. So yeah, I probably know proper English a damn sight better than you do. If I want to be a grammar Nazi, then I will be-it's a decision much like the one that you've taken to be a idiotic twat who is so far up their own backside that they cannot view things with a reasonable opinion. I repeat once more: you don't like the video then leave. Go watch a fucking ballet video,
@templarknight94 Hey RETARD, just becasue you have bad teeth and live in third world England doesn't mean you know English, didn't you save you are 17? what kind of "Literature student" is that?? LOL, also, only dumb people who cant get into a real program go for an "English" degree, but I doubt u can even get a degree.
@lppoqql Third world? The same England that owned 1/4 of the world? Had the best naval force in the world? The first country to actually have an industrial revolution and therefore progress from being a third world country? Get your facts right. I do English Language and Literature at college, along with History, German, Maths and Biology. I received A grades in all of them, and I should be going to Oxford university to do Law next year. Do you have a degree? Or any sign of decent education?
@templarknight94 Hey, RETARD, wake he fuck up, no one in the world thinks you owned 25% of the world you moron, that is the only fucken self delusion you idiots tell yourself. You morons just paid some goon in some third world country and you say you "own" it? hahahaha, the mongols, the Chinese the Romans built their empires with warriors, you weaklings built ur with small pox and lies. No one thinks much of your "british empire" LOL go cry now
@lppoqql You stupid twat, it's proven with records. We might have lied to get places at some point, but so did the Romans and the Chinese. The Romans and the Chinese also paid people off. Us weaklings have fought off countries that are more than twice our size, and I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks, the fact is that it is history and nothing you say can change it.
@templarknight94 LOL, the past great empire were built with warriors and blood, you British just infect people with small pox and lie to them about treaties and such. After that you pay the locals to kill each other. What kind of empire is that? That sounds more like what rats and scheming snakes would do. That is why no one respects the "British Empire" You see how western culture always uphold Rome instead of Britain?
@lppoqql Yeah, sure. Just like others infected us with the plague. We lied about treaties? Have you ever heard of a guy called Hitler? He was German, and he lied about treaties. America has too. Every country in the world has lied about a treaty sometime. The Romans did, pretty much constantly. Rome was an awesome empire. So was that of Alexander the Great. Britain owned part of America and Canada at one point. I mean, the USA and Australia speak our language, so we must have had power. -__-
@templarknight94 Hitler was horrible because he tried to commit mass genocide, the difference is Hitler tried but the British actually committed the worst genocide in human history. You ever wonder why the western medias never celebrates the British empire if its so "great"?? Thats exactly why, you people are racist and genocidal killers with no honor. You need to face your history and denounce that the British empire did, or u would have no credibility as a human being.
@lppoqql Which genocide was that, then? The Americans killed off more people than Hitler did. Come on, give me some solid evidence-like the link to an official webpage-that's about a specific British genocide worse then the Holocaust. Because I can't find one. We are racist? What about your comments to the French? You still haven't replied to that message. Sure, ages ago we sold Black Africans into slavery. But we stopped lynching them and persecuting them far before America did.
@templarknight94 are you kidding me, who gave the small pox blankets to the Indians that saved you? The Skull bounty? The genocide of natives in Australia? The Americans committed genocide yes, but they are just learning from you. WOW, now you are going to play all anime watery eyes innocent? own up to what your country did, thats the least you could do, at least the Germans didn't deny the Holocaust.
@lppoqql Ah, okay, I know little of them (medieval history is what I do at college, 1066-1500) but yes, I concede that we did indeed commit genocide in those countries. And if I thought it was my place, I'd apologize. But it's not. I'm not denying that they happened, I'm merely saying that the people who actually did it should have apologized. Not us. Or do you expect everyone, including yourself, so constantly say sorry for everything your ancestors ever did throughout history?
@templarknight94 oh, come on, what you learn in all euro centric history, and this "I didn't do it" stuff is actually not going to work. But since you admitted what your country had done in he past than you shouldn't be proud of the past genocidal empire, shouldn't you people try to make a more equal and just society in redemption of your forefather's sins?
@lppoqql Sure, if China, Mongolia, Syria, Egypt, Japan, and also Islam in general is your definition of "Euro-based history". I study England and Europe, and the Crusades as well. I never said it would. And as to that last question, shouldn't you apologize for your forefather's sins too? Whether I'm English, German, Indian, American, Canadian, when you put it like you did, everyone should just apologize for everything their ancestors ever did to another race/country.
@templarknight94 I have always demanded equality for all, I will frequently use racial insult on racist people so they know what it feels like. I think most people do not stand up for their own rights.
@lppoqql Fair enough, I cannot find fault with that. If it puts your mind at rest, then I apologize on behalf of my country for the things that we have done in the past, because to be fair, we have done some awful things...every country has, but that is no excuse. I am also grateful that the Germans have apologized for murdering my great grandparents and great uncle (they were in Auschwitz-my grandmother survived).
@templarknight94 Great, I dont think you should apologize, after all, like you said, you have not done those crimes, however the burden is on our generation to make the world a better place. I hope one day you will be a good lawyer and defend justice. take care :)
@lppoqql Thank you, and it is indeed. I certainly hope that I will, and if I manage to get myself into a high position from which I can truly influence others and help towards creating that better place, then all the better. Thank you for the kind words in parting. Take care yourself :)
@lppoqql Oh,and the small pox blankets idea was discussed, but whether it was ever used is unknown. We do know that there were a small number of contaminated blankets, and that both English and Indians got smallpox, but relatively few people in the surrounding community. That's not me talking, that's an Indian-yes, Indian-historian's words.
@lppoqql Hey mate, you say on your page that" I believe people of all races should be treated as equals, racist people will be treated with equal racism." Doesn't insulting French people who haven't given you any insult at all go completely against what you say? You're just a retard who goes against their own principles... A footnote in the history of failure.
@templarknight94 LOL, hey retard, I doubt you will be accepted in "oxford", its a crap school anyways, my cousin got his masters there, told me full of offensive British asshole with bad teeth. Morons who are stuck at the middle ages and think the "British Empire" is great etc etc, while the rest of the world hate your kind. So, tell me idiot kid, whats the matter? you can only get into arts degree programs? you cant get into a program that needs brains? LOL bullshit all day long.
@lppoqql Yeah, sure. You've probably never seen Oxford in your life, and if your cousin really did go there then he is obviously a lot smarter than you. Sure, people might hate us. We don't really care. Wherever you live, someone's gonna hate there. I am proud of my country's history, there's nothing wrong with that. And I could get onto a maths or biology course if I wanted to, but I decided to do law. All need high brains. Law is one of the hardest courses to get onto. So it needs brains.
@templarknight94 Hey, retard, why would I waste my time going to a third world country to see a third rate school? Fuck Oxford, and dont fucken talk to me about being "smart" you are going into some shitty arts program, almost anyone can get in. LOL Go cry more, "law" LOL, what part of your brain do you use there? oh right, you dont, all you do is bullshit your way through life. You argue for both sides lol. what an idiot, leech on society and humanity.
@lppoqql Where do you live, by the way? Oh, and you obviously think that you are holding a conversation with yourself..."what an idiot, leech on society and humanity"?! I'll get paid a hell of a lot more than you, that's for sure. Heck, I might even have the infinite pleasure of locking you up one day, I can only cross my fingers and pray. almost anyone can go in? Go on, you try getting the grades needed to make it. From the level of intelligence you're showing here, you have the IQ of plankton.
@templarknight94 LOL, stfu you idiot, you see what I mean, a sneaky low life like you dont care for Justice when you practice law, you only want to use it to "lock people up"?? hahaha, what a useless piece of shit, a fucken leech on humanity. What have lawyers ever done for humanity? All the advancements that ave lives and improve humanity are from scientists, not bullshit losers like you. You probably cant even get into a community college. Dont waste my time stupid child
@lppoqql Yeah. I go to a Sixth Form college. And like I said before, if I applied to do science at university, then I could. And I never said that I would use that power to lock people up, I just said that it'd be a pleasure to prosecute you. I'd merely do what a prosecution barrister is supposed to do...and stand up for people in court...you'd know that if you knew what a barrister was. Lawyers have locked up murderers that had the potential to turn structured society into chaos.
@templarknight94 Are you kidding me? Lawyers are trained to argue both sides of the case, do you even have a basic understanding of what law training is?? Morality is useless in law, lawyers just basically argue a case for money regardless of morality. If you really want to do something for society I suggest you do medicine or engineering, no one likes lawyers. You just want to make money and "lock people up", you dont give a shit about justice.
@lppoqql I know that, dumbass. However, you can be either a barrister for the defense or a barrister for the prosecution. I based my opinion on the job that I want to do, which is barrister for the prosecution. I don't give a shit if morality is useless in law, it's useless in a lot of things. Like my friend's father, who is a heart surgeon who has told me that he doesn't care about his patients. He just likes the pay check. You get people like that in every job, idiot.
@templarknight94 Yes, people like that are the leechs of humanity, they are just in it for the money, I guess if I want to kill someone I can pay your "friends" father and "make a mistake"?? You see how dangerous that is? Well, why M I explaining this to some kid lol, fuck off child.
@lppoqql That's exactly what I said. You find people like that in every society. I never justified it. And maybe, I wouldn't know-I'm not sick enough to even inquire. It is dangerous. But it doesn't just happen in England, it happens everywhere including your country. And you're not explaining anything to me, you are provoking me into a response by insulting virtually everything you can. I suppose I should be more mature than that, but heck, I'm just a kid. And you still haven't replied lol.
@templarknight94 Alright kid, as long as you are not some money hungry leech on society that would do anything for money, however, I merely suggested this video here of some people forcing these poor animals into slavery and call it art is a little over the top. Ballet is art, because human beings use their own body to create it, and I insulted that French Bitch because she insulted me. That is all, I will always stand up for what I believe in, no matter he method. simple as that
@lppoqql Yes, sorry, we did get a little off-topic lol. I concede, an argument well-fought. I am not, and neither are you. Accepting bribes for favors within jobs, especially influential jobs is wrong. I disagree though...I have 16 horses, and any horse like the ones above could easily refuse to do it. Have you ever tried to force a 1200 pound animal to do your will? They are 10 times heavier than us, it is nigh on impossible. Fair enough, but insulting the whole of France takes it too far.
@templarknight94 sometimes you hit where it hurts to make the point, I'm a believer of "the end justify the means". So as long as I get my point across there is no limit :) This is how the real world operates, sometimes for good results you need bad methods. As long as the end result is good, its all worth it.
@lppoqql Oh, and why haven't you replied to my other comment about you? You know, the quote from your page? You were stupid enough to go against what you claim are your own morals, and yet you don't have the guts to answer for it.
@BSVmaid1991 It's actually much smaller than everyone think. You couldn't fit a standard dressage arena in there. And good luck doing 20 meter circles...it's not 20 meters wide. But it sure is majestic. And yeah...so would I.
When I was your age (a century ago) I was so inspired by the Spanish Riding School that I went on to become a riding instructor and travelled the world. I would read late into the night about them, hiding under the covers with a flashlight .... no YouTube then.... and books on the Palio di Siena, which I later attended in Italy. It's all good: whatever inspires you.... Buck Brannaman or the Spanish Riding School... horses will never do anything well unless they enjoy it, just like us....
@giulialatini ... amazing ... I was the same .. never became a pro instructor, pro show jumper or dressage, but was my dream "a century ago" ... read the same books, rode horses every morning, every night ... an absolute joy !!! .. Still ride (but of course) ..
@lppoqql so im guessing u are not interested in horses then?? shame, some people make judgements like this but im not a retard, im not stuck up and id like to see you get on one of those horses and ride it like these guys do, fact: to pass the test to get to the simple title of a "rider" you train for at least 18 years, iv been riding for 5 years and im crap i kno i am, so if u could get up on a horse and ride better than me on ur first or second attempt, then i would maybe rewrite my comment
@lppoqql The saddle/the back of a horse; known as "the seat of kings and noblity". So it comes as no surprize that you are joined in your distaste for the most crucial relationship and lynchpin of civilzation in history by other ignominious characters like Adolph Hitler and Barack Obama. Go back to surfing porn.
I do agree it is beautiful but one thing that I dont like, is they try to make themselves look as still as possible, and it doesnt look like their riding with the horse. is one thing I would have to diagree with.
@bennybontastic a horses ears back do mean the are scared or angry, but thats only if they are flat back, if they are just swivelled bk it means they are listening to the rider
this is boring as shit. I do english saddle seat and thats a lot more exciting than going around in a tiny circle at a 1 mile per hour canter. Seriously do u people ever have any fun???
@Kitkat7ful This is classical dressage. This is horsemanship at its absolute best. It may not be 'fun' for you, and that's fine, because it isn't supposed to be. This is the world famous Spanish Riding School, the oldest of its kind in the world - living history. They don't care about whether or not a 17 year old American girl finds it 'fun' or entertaining. These are arguably the greatest riders and the most well-trained horses in the world. If you cannot appreciate true horsemanship, well..
@Jailbirdx i'm not sayin it's bad it really is beautiful. All i'm sayin is that i'm not used to something like this. Usually for me the horse is moving fast and there's so many other things to think about it's just i've never had the time before to watch anything like this and i'm used it.
@Kitkat7ful ..then that's sad for you. I am not usually fond of dressage, but dressage forms the basic principles for ALL riding styles - and this is dressage in its purest, oldest, and most untainted form. You should be envious of these riders, because neither you nor I will ever be anywhere near as good horsemen as they are.
And for the record, I do like saddle seat, hunters, and jumpers.
@Kitkat7ful The collected canter isn't the western pleasure lope. The collected canter provides the vertical energy needed to successfully perform the airs above the ground. Dressage puts emphasis on collection because collection is part of every other discipline. As a jumper, if my horse couldn't collect, I'd send poles flying everywhere; eventers would be killed by rotational falls on course regularly; gaited breeds would be awkward and choppy; saddle seat would miss the rack and slow gait.
@kristian0gallops That's because it takes 10 years of training at the SRS before you even graduate from being an "eleve" (student) to assistant rider. It takes decades of training for horse and rider to be this good.
Thank you Vienna for keeping up this old tradition which let us modern horse-people see how incredibly skillful people are with their horses there and have been for so many years back in history! This is an art performed by beautiful horses together with very well trained riders who knows it is much more worth to be a rider at the Spanish Riding School than anything else in the horse world. Nothing can compete with this beauty and grace!
Obviously if the horses didnt want to do this, they wouldnt. They're 1200 pound + animals. Obviously its hard to really control them when they really dont want to do something. These horses are bred for this, and i think its a beautiful way of showing art in animal form.
I agree with paintitredgirl. If anything, Lipizzaners get treated like the royalty of the horse world! The training may be long and strenuous, but they are in no way mistreated.
Lipizzaner stallions aren't being treated like little pets dressed up in tutus and hats. Horserino needs to visit the Spanish Riding School in Vienna to learn more about how these horses are treated, & what they have been observed to do in their natural environment before passing judgment. E.g., the reason stallions are used & not mares is that mares can be trained to do the jumps, but don't do them in their natural environment, so they aren't used out of respect for the breed.
Let these beautiful creatures be who they will be. This performance illustrates how profoundly sick and perverse we humans can be. It's like dressing your pet in little tutus and hats to give them those oh-so-cute human qualities. I wonder what God thinks about our vanities.
@nags2bitches These graduates are NOT allowed to compete as the horses are not allowed to compete, They may instruct after graduation though, Its in their training contracts when they get accepted. Better then Anky? I don't know about that but this is a step above what she rides in, These horses are above Gran Prix level that shows/competitions use today. This is equitation as art not as a tool. Its what wet dreams are made of
@Race62hud What I meant is, they do it for totally different reasons to Anky and those like her. It isn't about fame and money it's about perfecting an art and to me that is a superior motive which gets superior results. Fame and money makes people take short cuts and that's bad horsemanship.
@nags2bitches Could not agree with you more. But no sense in implying that a Olympic level rider such as Anky is not talented. she could give these riders a run for their money. Leave the infighing to the Reining crowd, its what they do best LOL
@nags2bitches That is due to the fact that these people devoted their entire lives to perfecting oneself. Think of it as a monk's vow to chastity. They are not allowed to compete in the ring just as the horses may not compete. First the riders must complete a test, then they are given a young horse to see through it's entire training.....Remember a single stallion may takes YEARS to master a single movement. They don't have time to chase after gold medals. That's why it's the haute ecole....
@nags2bitches who the hell cares about the f***ing gold medal or the fame? We are talking about good riding and good dressage. You can't even compare these Lipizzans with Salinero, Satchmo, Totilas etc. No one can say that totilas is better cause I am sure that his movements aren't normal and he isn't normal at all.
@nags2bitches What I mean by fight is it will be tough for theses horses to beat Salinero. I've been to one of these shows with my riding instructor who is very experianced and she had a close look and they look like they are part of the horse but really they are making lots of faults.
No. Theses horse were not easy to train and Salinero is being ridden correctly as these are differnt styles. If Salinero and Anky were not proper dressage riders would she have won a gold metal?
@katnjas Well I guess this is a show not a competition ; what i meant by my first comment was that these guys are doing it for arts sake not for recognition or money.
No one "knows" their names because they are not into winning gold medals for their vanity but rather, they preserve the classical dressage which is a treasure of knowledge and tradition built upon the finer science of equestrian warfare. They do not drug their horses, over crank them, or cause them to break down their bodies at early ages, and basically destroy the horse's mind and body like some trainers will for the vanity of a competition. In classical dressage, the horse comes first.
i'd like to see them do it all bitless.

definately my favourite horse to watch :) they're so beautiful and elegant and you can see how much they share a bond with their riders :) It amazes me how people can claim its cruelty when much of this is the horses natural instinct !

is one of them grey because it is young?
Supertomiman 3 months ago
@Supertomiman Exactly right! They are born dark and then lighten as the mature. Brilliant it definitely is!
cannes2323 3 months ago
@Supertomiman yes they are born charcoal and fade to silver. these horses are trained over such a long period of time they are not considered broke untill they are in their late teens. they are so patiently and systematicly taught that they retain their individual personalities--very evident if you have the pleasure of watching them live.
fmd1964 3 months ago
These horses have been dancing for centuries. They are proud animals by nature, all the human has done is bring out their natural abilities. I agree that ignorance will always condemn this art as cruelty. The Lipizzaners and their riders/trainers are bonded. This School is so famous they could never afford the scandal of cruelty.
PaganMam 3 months ago
Of course they love their job! That's why only very few breeds do this, because this breed has the mental and physical capacity for it. Good job guys!

It hurts to see it :(
We live in the 21 th century, we know better then this.
toti021 4 months ago
@toti021 What on earth are you talking about? These are among the most pampered animals in the world. The men who train them do so with the most gentle touch of any horse trainers in the world. If you look at this and see "abuse", the problem is with your eyes, not the Spanish Riding Academy. These stallions are so well treated, conditioned and trained that some are know to perform into their 20s.
You "know better"?... You know Nothing.
wideawake123 4 months ago
@wideawake123
Gentle touch? When they do it without the bit i'll accept it.
toti021 3 months ago
@toti021 They can, I've seen it.
Saartje05 3 months ago
@toti021 If that girl on your video can ride that pony without a bit and whip you can come back again.
Saartje05 3 months ago
@toti021 Here again you exhibit your total lack of knowledge. Having absolutely no idea what constitutes horsemastership, you attack a piece of tack...in this case, the bits(not bit). So then by your standards, the mark of a good soldier is that he marches without his boots. Shall we also insist that the horses perform without shoes? As I said, for a person such as you to pass judgement on the Spanish Riding Academy tells me we're living in the Age of Ignorance.
wideawake123 3 months ago 2
@toti021 That only means you know nothing about these animals. What is the 21th century? Rodeo's? Kid's abusing ponies by pulling the reins too hard? If you don't know what you're talking about than don't. You could only wish all horses are being taken care of like these horses are.
Saartje05 3 months ago
@Saartje05
I know vera well what i'm talking about though i've read about bouth the effect of the bit and the way the horses holds their neck and head. No idea how to translate that to english. I will gladly accept all os this whan they can do it with just a rope around their neck.
toti021 3 months ago
@toti021 Do you know Lippizaners? Probably not, otherwise you would know they can be ridden without a bit and they still their heads like that. Holding it like that means they're relaxed and they use their back as they are supposed to do.
Saartje05 3 months ago
@Saartje05 That's the truth... Good Going!
virginiacastle 3 months ago
@toti021 You've read about it? Have you ever ridden a correctly trained dressage horse? My dressage horse is pampered, loved and doted on, and yes I use a bit. When I tried using a bitless bridle, he became VERY irritated, and then quickly downright angry (and trust me, an angry Spanish horse does not look like the ones in this video!). He seeks contact with the bit, as he was trained by experts to do. No one can force a horse to do this. The beauty is in the harmony.
cannes2323 3 months ago
@toti021 So what about that rider on your video? What is she doing on that pony? It's the 21th century, you should know better than that. Or do you think that pony goes around jumping fences in the field when it doesn't need to? I really don't see the difference other than the riders of the Spanish Riding school are doing a much better job and take a lot more time.

Whomisthatcat98 4 months ago
@Whomisthatcat98 And I suppose you don't understand anything about riding? The Spanish Riding School teaches Classical Dressage. There is nothing mean or cruel about proper Classical Dressage, in that they strive for the horse to do all the work themselves, and that they work towards a self carriage (meaning you could take the bit out of their mouth and they will still stay in somewhat of the same frame. Also, with this breed, you cannot force them. If they are unhappy, they will let you know
AllThatJazzandBrave 4 months ago
@Whomisthatcat98 It would help if you had the slightest idea of what you were talking about. Most of the horse in this video were frothing at the bit which means they are RELAXED and extremely comfortable. Dressage judges and trainers look for that as a sign that the horse feels happy and relaxed in their workout. Maybe you should spend a few hours around real, live horses in training...before you start passing judgement on the best trained horses and horsemen on the planet.

@lppoqql also, may I point out that ballet dancers also excrete, just like horses, and without a wash and a shave are also dirty and hairy. In case you had some strange misconception that we mammals have nothing in common with other mammals.

thebluebot 5 months ago

But do i act that way?no. do my friends act that way? no. my friends and i would rather give you the shirt off our back than act like a bitch.don't be a stereotyper
thebluebot 5 months ago
@thebluebot my old crazy French friend, if you are so down to earth why do you need to ride an animal? and force it to repeat movement patterns at your will. I bet you ride a male horse too, you are basically a master at male castration and submission. I cant imagine how much it would suck to be your boyfriend LOL......... anyways if you love art so much why dont you use your own body to create art? why use a smelly hairy animal, is that really art? or personal domination ego? SM much?
lppoqql 5 months ago
@lppoqql its more so of the bond you have with the horse that makes it beautiful. The horse is such a powerful being and to be able to be equal to it, which is what they are demonstrating, is an amazing thing. for some people its about domination of the horse, but for me and the wonderful riders showcased in this video, its about treating the horse right but still being respected. and lets face it, if the horse didnt want to do it, he wouldnt do it. hes bigger than us.
thebluebot 5 months ago

@lppoqql Third world? The same England that owned 1/4 of the world? Had the best naval force in the world? Do you have a degree? Or any sign of decent education?
templarknight94 5 months ago
@templarknight94 Hey, RETARD, wake he fuck up, no one in the world thinks you owned 25% of the world you moron, that is the only fucken self delusion you idiots tell yourself. You morons just paid some goon in some third world country and you say you "own" it? hahahaha, the mongols, the Chinese the Romans built their empires with warriors, you weaklings built ur with small pox and lies. No one thinks much of your "british empire" LOL go cry now
lppoqql 5 months ago
@lppoqql You stupid twat, it's proven with records. We might have lied to get places at some point, but so did the Romans and the Chinese. The Romans and the Chinese also paid people off. Us weaklings have fought off countries that are more than twice our size, and I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks, the fact is that it is history and nothing you say can change it.
templarknight94 5 months ago
@templarknight94 LOL, the past great empire were built with warriors and blood, you British just infect people with small pox and lie to them about treaties and such. After that you pay the locals to kill each other. What kind of empire is that? That sounds more like what rats and scheming snakes would do. That is why no one respects the "British Empire" You see how western culture always uphold Rome instead of Britain?
lppoqql 5 months ago
@lppoqql Yeah, sure. Just like others infected us with the plague. We lied about treaties? Have you ever heard of a guy called Hitler? He was German, and he lied about treaties. America has too. Every country in the world has lied about a treaty sometime. The Romans did, pretty much constantly. Rome was an awesome empire. So was that of Alexander the Great. Britain owned part of America and Canada at one point. I mean, the USA and Australia speak our language, so we must have had power. -__-
templarknight94 5 months ago
@templarknight94 Hitler was horrible because he tried to commit mass genocide, the difference is Hitler tried but the British actually committed the worst genocide in human history. You ever wonder why the western medias never celebrates the British empire if its so "great"?? Thats exactly why, you people are racist and genocidal killers with no honor. You need to face your history and denounce that the British empire did, or u would have no credibility as a human being.
lppoqql 5 months ago
@lppoqql Which genocide was that, then? The Americans killed off more people than Hitler did. Come on, give me some solid evidence-like the link to an official webpage-that's about a specific British genocide worse then the Holocaust. Because I can't find one. We are racist? What about your comments to the French? You still haven't replied to that message. Sure, ages ago we sold Black Africans into slavery. But we stopped lynching them and persecuting them far before America did.
templarknight94 5 months ago
@templarknight94 are you kidding me, who gave the small pox blankets to the Indians that saved you? The Skull bounty? The genocide of natives in Australia? The Americans committed genocide yes, but they are just learning from you. WOW, now you are going to play all anime watery eyes innocent? own up to what your country did, thats the least you could do, at least the Germans didn't deny the Holocaust.
lppoqql 5 months ago
@lppoqql Ah, okay, I know little of them (medieval history is what I do at college, 1066-1500) but yes, I concede that we did indeed commit genocide in those countries. And if I thought it was my place, I'd apologize. But it's not. I'm not denying that they happened, I'm merely saying that the people who actually did it should have apologized. Not us. Or do you expect everyone, including yourself, so constantly say sorry for everything your ancestors ever did throughout history?
templarknight94 5 months ago
@templarknight94 oh, come on, what you learn in all euro centric history, and this "I didn't do it" stuff is actually not going to work. But since you admitted what your country had done in he past than you shouldn't be proud of the past genocidal empire, shouldn't you people try to make a more equal and just society in redemption of your forefather's sins?
lppoqql 5 months ago
@lppoqql Sure, if China, Mongolia, Syria, Egypt, Japan, and also Islam in general is your definition of "Euro-based history". I study England and Europe, and the Crusades as well. I never said it would. And as to that last question, shouldn't you apologize for your forefather's sins too? Whether I'm English, German, Indian, American, Canadian, when you put it like you did, everyone should just apologize for everything their ancestors ever did to another race/country.
templarknight94 5 months ago
@templarknight94 I have always demanded equality for all, I will frequently use racial insult on racist people so they know what it feels like. I think most people do not stand up for their own rights.
lppoqql 5 months ago
@lppoqql Fair enough, I cannot find fault with that. If it puts your mind at rest, then I apologize on behalf of my country for the things that we have done in the past, because to be fair, we have done some awful things...every country has, but that is no excuse. I am also grateful that the Germans have apologized for murdering my great grandparents and great uncle (they were in Auschwitz-my grandmother survived).
templarknight94 5 months ago
@templarknight94 Great, I dont think you should apologize, after all, like you said, you have not done those crimes, however the burden is on our generation to make the world a better place. I hope one day you will be a good lawyer and defend justice. take care :)
lppoqql 5 months ago
@lppoqql Thank you, and it is indeed. I certainly hope that I will, and if I manage to get myself into a high position from which I can truly influence others and help towards creating that better place, then all the better. Thank you for the kind words in parting. Take care yourself :)
templarknight94 5 months ago
@lppoqql Oh,and the small pox blankets idea was discussed, but whether it was ever used is unknown. We do know that there were a small number of contaminated blankets, and that both English and Indians got smallpox, but relatively few people in the surrounding community. That's not me talking, that's an Indian-yes, Indian-historian's words.
templarknight94 5 months ago
@lppoqql Hey mate, you say on your page that" I believe people of all races should be treated as equals, racist people will be treated with equal racism." Doesn't insulting French people who haven't given you any insult at all go completely against what you say? You're just a retard who goes against their own principles... A footnote in the history of failure.
templarknight94 5 months ago
@templarknight94 LOL, hey retard, I doubt you will be accepted in "oxford", its a crap school anyways, my cousin got his masters there, told me full of offensive British asshole with bad teeth. Morons who are stuck at the middle ages and think the "British Empire" is great etc etc, while the rest of the world hate your kind. So, tell me idiot kid, whats the matter? you can only get into arts degree programs? you cant get into a program that needs brains? LOL bullshit all day long.
lppoqql 5 months ago
@lppoqql Yeah, sure. So it needs brains.
templarknight94 5 months ago
@templarknight94 Hey, retard, why would I waste my time going to a third world country to see a third rate school? Fuck Oxford, and dont fucken talk to me about being "smart" you are going into some shitty arts program, almost anyone can get in. Go on, you try getting the grades needed to make it. From the level of intelligence you're showing here, you have the IQ of plankton.
templarknight94 5 months ago
@templarknight94 LOL, stfu you idiot, you see what I mean, a sneaky low life like you dont care for Justice when you practice law, you only want to use it to "lock people up"?? hahaha, what a useless piece of shit, a fucken leech on humanity. What have lawyers ever done for humanity? All the advancements that ave lives and improve humanity are from scientists, not bullshit losers like you. You probably cant even get into a community college. Dont waste my time stupid child
lppoqql 5 months ago
@lppoqql Yeah. I go to a Sixth Form college. And like I said before, if I applied to do science at university, then I could. And I never said that I would use that power to lock people up, I just said that it'd be a pleasure to prosecute you. I'd merely do what a prosecution barrister is supposed to do...and stand up for people in court...you'd know that if you knew what a barrister was. Lawyers have locked up murderers that had the potential to turn structured society into chaos.
templarknight94 5 months ago
@templarknight94 Are you kidding me? Lawyers are trained to argue both sides of the case, do you even have a basic understanding of what law training is?? Morality is useless in law, lawyers just basically argue a case for money regardless of morality. If you really want to do something for society I suggest you do medicine or engineering, no one likes lawyers. You just want to make money and "lock people up", you dont give a shit about justice.
lppoqql 5 months ago

Well, why M I explaining this to some kid lol, fuck off child.
lppoqql 5 months ago
@lppoqql That's exactly what I said. You find people like that in every society. I never justified it. And maybe, I wouldn't know-I'm not sick enough to even inquire. It is dangerous. But it doesn't just happen in England, it happens everywhere including your country. And you're not explaining anything to me, you are provoking me into a response by insulting virtually everything you can. I suppose I should be more mature than that, but heck, I'm just a kid. And you still haven't replied lol.
templarknight94 5 months ago
@templarknight94 Alright kid, as long as you are not some money hungry leech on society that would do anything for money, however, I merely suggested this video here of some people forcing these poor animals into slavery and call it art is a little over the top. Ballet is art, because human beings use their own body to create it, and I insulted that French Bitch because she insulted me. That is all, I will always stand up for what I believe in, no matter he method. simple as that
lppoqql 5 months ago
@lppoqql Yes, sorry, we did get a little off-topic lol. I concede, an argument well-fought. I am not, and neither are you. Accepting bribes for favors within jobs, especially influential jobs is wrong. I disagree though...I have 16 horses, and any horse like the ones above could easily refuse to do it. Have you ever tried to force a 1200 pound animal to do your will? They are 10 times heavier than us, it is nigh on impossible. Fair enough, but insulting the whole of France takes it too far.
templarknight94 5 months ago
@templarknight94 sometimes you hit where it hurts to make the point, I'm a believer of "the end justify the means". So as long as I get my point across there is no limit :) This is how the real world operates, sometimes for good results you need bad methods. As long as the end result is good, its all worth it.
lppoqql 5 months ago
@lppoqql Oh, and why haven't you replied to my other comment about you? You know, the quote from your page? You were stupid enough to go against what you claim are your own morals, and yet you don't have the guts to answer for it.

the BEST horsemanship in THE WORLD!!!!! and would love a riding arena like that! :) haha! :)
BSVmaid1991 6 months ago
@BSVmaid1991 It's actually much smaller than everyone think. You couldn't fit a standard dressage arena in there. And good luck doing 20 meter circles...it's not 20 meters wide. But it sure is majestic. And yeah...so would I.
wideawake123 4 months ago
Now THAT is what you call real dressage...
The trust between the rider and horse is amazing...

xxHannahxxSina 6 months ago

When I was your age (a century ago) I was so inspired by the Spanish Riding School that I went on to become a riding instructor and travelled the world. I would read late into the night about them, hiding under the covers with a flashlight .... no YouTube then.... and books on the Palio di Siena, which I later attended in Italy. It's all good: whatever inspires you.... Buck Brannaman or the Spanish Riding School... horses will never do anything well unless they enjoy it, just like us....
giulialatini 7 months ago
@giulialatini ... amazing ... I was the same .. never became a pro instructor, pro show jumper or dressage, but was my dream "a century ago" ... read the same books, rode horses every morning, every night ... an absolute joy !!! .. Still ride (but of course) ..

What kind of retard would like this? this is not graceful, it probably smells foul, must be some stuck up bitch
lppoqql 7 months ago
@lppoqql so im guessing u are not interested in horses then?? shame, some people make judgements like this but im not a retard, im not stuck up and id like to see you get on one of those horses and ride it like these guys do, fact: to pass the test to get to the simple title of a "rider" you train for at least 18 years, iv been riding for 5 years and im crap i kno i am, so if u could get up on a horse and ride better than me on ur first or second attempt, then i would maybe rewrite my comment
alliegirljls13194 7 months ago
@lppoqql The saddle/the back of a horse; known as "the seat of kings and noblity". So it comes as no surprize that you are joined in your distaste for the most crucial relationship and lynchpin of civilzation in history by other ignominious characters like Adolph Hitler and Barack Obama. Go back to surfing porn.
wideawake123 4 months ago
I do agree it is beautiful but one thing that I dont like, is they try to make themselves look as still as possible, and it doesnt look like their riding with the horse. is one thing I would have to diagree with.
barrelracer1996123 7 months ago
these are gorgeous horses. wish i could ride like that haha

to bennybontastic the ears are back because they are listening to their riders if they where not happy their ears would be flat back on their heads

@bellzbee agreed, if they were pissed their ears would be flat and angry looking, their ears are in fact going back and forth listening

that is a bit mean some of them horse's hate it look at the ears i will not be suprised if all of them men have been kicked
but i still think it looks entertaining
bennybontastic 8 months ago
@bennybontastic a horses ears back do mean the are scared or angry, but thats only if they are flat back, if they are just swivelled bk it means they are listening to the rider

@Kitkat7ful these are super duper skilled riders who are trained in the fine noble art of dressage. Saddle seat isnt nearly as hard as this.

this is boring as shit. I do english saddle seat and thats a lot more exciting than going around in a tiny circle at a 1 mile per hour canter. Seriously do u people ever have any fun???
Kitkat7ful 8 months ago
@Kitkat7ful This is classical dressage. This is horsemanship at its absolute best. It may not be 'fun' for you, and that's fine, because it isn't supposed to be. This is the world famous Spanish Riding School, the oldest of its kind in the world - living history. They don't care about whether or not a 17 year old American girl finds it 'fun' or entertaining. These are arguably the greatest riders and the most well-trained horses in the world. If you cannot appreciate true horsemanship, well..
Jailbirdx 8 months ago 44
@Jailbirdx im a 16 year old american girl and i find this beautiful, so please dont label all of us, but i do like your comment and agree
Kaylagirl1238 8 months ago 3
@Jailbirdx wot u said is so true, just sums this place up in words
alliegirljls13194 7 months ago
@Jailbirdx i'm not sayin it's bad it really is beautiful. All i'm sayin is that i'm not used to something like this. Usually for me the horse is moving fast and there's so many other things to think about it's just i've never had the time before to watch anything like this and i'm used it.
Kitkat7ful 7 months ago
@Jailbirdx
best answer ever!
guaxi83 6 months ago
@Kitkat7ful ..then that's sad for you. I am not usually fond of dressage, but dressage forms the basic principles for ALL riding styles - and this is dressage in its purest, oldest, and most untainted form. You should be envious of these riders, because neither you nor I will ever be anywhere near as good horsemen as they are.
And for the record, I do like saddle seat, hunters, and jumpers.
Jailbirdx 8 months ago
@Kitkat7ful The collected canter isn't the western pleasure lope. The collected canter provides the vertical energy needed to successfully perform the airs above the ground. Dressage puts emphasis on collection because collection is part of every other discipline. As a jumper, if my horse couldn't collect, I'd send poles flying everywhere; eventers would be killed by rotational falls on course regularly; gaited breeds would be awkward and choppy; saddle seat would miss the rack and slow gait.

this is gordeous but i get really tired of watching ugly old dudes ride horses
kristian0gallops 8 months ago
@kristian0gallops That's because it takes 10 years of training at the SRS before you even graduate from being an "eleve" (student) to assistant rider. It takes decades of training for horse and rider to be this good.
AcquiesceJZ 8 months ago
It is very nice just I do think the horses really hard in the mouth are drawn
lindsayaxel 8 months ago
Thank you Vienna for keeping up this old tradition which let us modern horse-people see how incredibly skillful people are with their horses there and have been for so many years back in history! This is an art performed by beautiful horses together with very well trained riders who knows it is much more worth to be a rider at the Spanish Riding School than anything else in the horse world. Nothing can compete with this beauty and grace!

0SakuraBlossom0 9 months ago
poor horse, they are like in army !!! where's the liberty into this show ?
ilu12347 9 months ago
@ilu12347 It's classical dressage. It evolved from movements used by cavalry centuries ago. So yeah, it's supposed to be like they're in the army.
Jailbirdx 8 months ago
Obviously if the horses didnt want to do this, they wouldnt. They're 1200 pound + animals. Obviously its hard to really control them when they really dont want to do something. These horses are bred for this, and i think its a beautiful way of showing art in animal form.
Spunkybreyer 9 months ago 2
I agree with paintitredgirl. If anything, Lipizzaners get treated like the royalty of the horse world! The training may be long and strenuous, but they are in no way mistreated.
McKings11 9 months ago 2
Lipizzaner stallions aren't being treated like little pets dressed up in tutus and hats. Horserino needs to visit the Spanish Riding School in Vienna to learn more about how these horses are treated, & what they have been observed to do in their natural environment before passing judgment. E.g., the reason stallions are used & not mares is that mares can be trained to do the jumps, but don't do them in their natural environment, so they aren't used out of respect for the breed.
paintitredgirl 9 months ago 2
I want that arena please?
maryandpolly 10 months ago
Let these beautiful creatures be who they will be. This performance illustrates how profoundly sick and perverse we humans can be. It's like dressing your pet in little tutus and hats to give them those oh-so-cute human qualities. I wonder what God thinks about our vanities.
hoserino 10 months ago
@hoserino
Are you kidding, these horses get the best possible treatment, and the training is perfect.

Everyone of these guys can ride better than Anky but not one of them has a gold medal and no-one knows their names...
nags2bitches 10 months ago 58
@nags2bitches These graduates are NOT allowed to compete as the horses are not allowed to compete, They may instruct after graduation though, Its in their training contracts when they get accepted. Better then Anky? I don't know about that but this is a step above what she rides in, These horses are above Gran Prix level that shows/competitions use today. This is equitation as art not as a tool. Its what wet dreams are made of
Race62hud 10 months ago
@Race62hud What I meant is, they do it for totally different reasons to Anky and those like her. It isn't about fame and money it's about perfecting an art and to me that is a superior motive which gets superior results. Fame and money makes people take short cuts and that's bad horsemanship.
nags2bitches 10 months ago 3
@nags2bitches Could not agree with you more. But no sense in implying that a Olympic level rider such as Anky is not talented. she could give these riders a run for their money. Leave the infighing to the Reining crowd, its what they do best LOL
Race62hud 10 months ago
@nags2bitches That is due to the fact that these people devoted their entire lives to perfecting oneself. Think of it as a monk's vow to chastity. They are not allowed to compete in the ring just as the horses may not compete. First the riders must complete a test, then they are given a young horse to see through it's entire training.....Remember a single stallion may takes YEARS to master a single movement. They don't have time to chase after gold medals. That's why it's the haute ecole....
GoldenOakFarm 9 months ago
@nags2bitches That is because these guys train horses for the art of riding not to win ribbons or medals.Greetings..

goldeena 8 months ago
@nags2bitches who the hell cares about the f***ing gold medal or the fame? We are talking about good riding and good dressage. You can't even compare these Lipizzans with Salinero, Satchmo, Totilas etc. No one can say that totilas is better cause I am sure that his movements aren't normal and he isn't normal at all.
goldeena 8 months ago
@nags2bitches It depends, because this is differnt style of riding. plus Salinero would put up a fight
katnjas 8 months ago
@katnjas I would argue that it is the same style, ie classical dressage , only here it is being done correctly.
If Salinero were ridden correctly possibly he wouldn't feel the need to fight ? Do you perhaps think any of these stallions was 'easy' to train?
nags2bitches 8 months ago
@nags2bitches What I mean by fight is it will be tough for theses horses to beat Salinero. I've been to one of these shows with my riding instructor who is very experianced and she had a close look and they look like they are part of the horse but really they are making lots of faults.
No. Theses horse were not easy to train and Salinero is being ridden correctly as these are differnt styles. If Salinero and Anky were not proper dressage riders would she have won a gold metal?
katnjas 8 months ago
@katnjas Well I guess this is a show not a competition ; what i meant by my first comment was that these guys are doing it for arts sake not for recognition or money.
nags2bitches 8 months ago
@nags2bitches Yeah. I see your point of view
katnjas 8 months ago
No one "knows" their names because they are not into winning gold medals for their vanity but rather, they preserve the classical dressage which is a treasure of knowledge and tradition built upon the finer science of equestrian warfare. They do not drug their horses, over crank them, or cause them to break down their bodies at early ages, and basically destroy the horse's mind and body like some trainers will for the vanity of a competition. In classical dressage, the horse comes first.
