I have one question, about importing individual tracks from the SD card independently of Creative Centrale (ie without using the PC). There is an "import all" command, but I have about 2gb of stuff on the card and only 400mb left on the internal, so importing everything would exceed the remaining internal capacity. Not a big deal but I'd like to know. Thanks! (re negative comments, mine is still doing great after 1 year. You do get the hang of the resistive screen with practice. Great player).
I had this player and my player doesn't work as fluid as this one.You must touch very hard and often times are miss tabs.The sound quality is not good and I tried 2 hours to made videos work.I tried everything but the videos mostly doesn't work.I send him back and bought a Cowon IAudio 9.The Iaudio 9 has the best sound quality I've ever heard from a mp3 player(and no I don't work for Cowon).
Does the creative zen music interface works anything like the zune where you can add songs to the random shuffle and not have to sacrifice the shuffle like ipod? Otherwise how does the interface work in this aspect?
Any chance you guys can make a similure flac player that doesn't have all the fancy stuff? Just flac files and maybe mp3z for the illiterates. Use real buttons and make the container indestructable. No touch screen cause it's just going to get damaged in my line of work. I don't even want a screen that tells me whats playing. Definately make it a 64 gig or bigger though. Flac files take up so much space. Oh, and include that wonderful sound processor of yours.

I just bought this thing today, it's a beauty but i have one problem, with setting up the date...it only shows me the year 2009. No matter what i do, it keeps saying 2009, not 2011, so wtf , can anybody help me?
@rsweres Hi there, to change the year, just continue sliding the calendar from the right to left and after you pass by December, the year will change. You can also from the sub menu choose December and slide once to go to the next year. Tell me if that works for you!

Once in "Set Date", you can see a calendar overview. To move from year to year slide your fingers from right to left to move from month to month. Once past December, you will move into another year. A quicker option is to click the sub-menu icon again and select Decemeber and slide once to your left to move into another year.
I bought one of these recently and I regret it. Sound quality with the X-Fi tech is like having plastic bags smashed into your ears, it's very noisy. The image quality is good but video reproduction freezes and gets out of sync. It turns automatically ON (without alarm or anything else activated) when recharging with the external speaker! Try to sleep while charging! I expected so much more from Creative, guess they only want to make money with it :( (Besides the awful interface, slow MO touch?)
How are the connectors (line in and usb power thing)? Will the solder points break? How well does it interact with the computer? PVQVIDEO is having problems. Could I build the playlist on the computer, then move it to the zen x-fi2? So I don't have to monkey around with that interface. 64 gb is a lot, are there moving parts in it (ie. hard drive)? Can a 270 lbs man run with it at -30 degree celcius without destroying the solder points and other stuff? Can I jog a marathon in the summer?
@tejolson92 Hi tejolson92, we haven't seen any cases of the connectors breaking, so you can be sure it's quite well built! The ZEN X-Fi2 connects through your computer/laptop with the bundled USB cable. Yes you can build a playlist on the computer and move it to the X-Fi2. You can also build playlist on X-Fi2 itself. As for the 64GB part, the X-Fi2 is using Flash drive, so no moving parts are involved! No problem using it for a marathon but do make sure it doesn't get too wet from all the sweat!

I've spent HOURS trying to make a playlist. first i select all the songs i want and put them into a selected songs thing. But as i'm getting close to entering all my songs, the SHITTY touchpad ends up playing a song and wipes my selected music screen. SO I HAVE TO GO ALL THE WAY BACK THROUGH ALL MY SONGS AND SELECT THEM ALL OVER A-FUCKING-GAIN. I am NEVER buying a ZEN again, these peices of shit arent even worth it!

Touch screen seems a bit laggy and its lacking features for this day and age.. and i like being able to skip songs by pressing the button on my zen mx in my pocket just by feeling around. I need a new player soon and I don't want to get an apple product and this zen doesn't seem like much. lame!

@pyradarknurse nope this player sucks major ass, the xfi tech is crap it says it restores lost audio which it does not all it does is increase the sound settings like loud bass treble mids doesn't bring any thing back. was meant for mp3. the touch u have to give it kinda pressure to open apps and move the screen around.

I love my zen xfi-2, but just recently something happened. I don't know what, but the touch is wrongly calibrated. So much that i can't open settings to calibrate it again. I dont know what to do! I tried the reset button on the bottom of the screen, but it didn't work. If you know how if I can calibrate it from my pc or something, please tell me. The reason of this is also unknown.

@ornakola Hi, you can try to clean up the ZEN X-Fi2. Hold the power button to turn the player on and when the "ZEN" world appear, hold the "Home" button (yes, that's the button beside the touchscreen". Choose "Clean Up" and after that is done, select "Reboot". Do tell me if this works for you. Thanks!
1. Yes you can drag and drop videos into the ZEN X-Fi2 without using Creative Central! But make sure that it is of the format that the player supports (WMV9, MPEG4-SP3, DivX3 4/5 and XviD3 Up to 640 x 480 video size)
2. Yes you can play video off the microSD card. Again, the video format has to be one that is already supported by the player.

I have this player for a while already, but whenever I make a new playlist, and connect my zen to my computer, Afterwards I can't listen to the playlist anymore, it's not in the playlist map. Anyone else also experiencing this problem? Please help

I have a Zen X-Fi2. I really dislike the media manager so I use MediaMonkey instead. I also dislike the limited compatibility for playback, especially video. There is no improvement to sound quality when the X-fi technology is used. In fact, I think X-fi makes compressed music sound hollow and stretched.
A plus for Zen is the SD integration. However, media playback from SD gets rescanned each time the card is accessed and Zen is incapable of resuming playback from SD once powered off.
a friend of mine got the same nokia. but there's less space for instance ( i got the 32 gb) and its a lot slower than the Zen. so i still would go for the zen. but i dont know how much that nokia is??
ouch, creative, my nokia 5800 XpressMusic smartphone, compared to the Zen X-fi2 that i own, the sound quality of the phone sh@ts all over the x-fi: more bass and more midrange response, using the same creative ep-830 earphones.
the touchscreen is also far more responsive and fluent to use, and it's the same resistive tech as the x-fi. now i ask myself why i spent 300 bucks for a touchscreen player that is inferior to a cheaper phone that performs 5 times better in every way and does more things
Well now they have a new firmware update 1.10.04 which has improve the interface by a lot. It also has many new features such as a sudoku game and accelerometer. U SHOULD CHECK IT OUT

I think all of Creatives players work as if it were a removable device. As if it were a flash drive, you just shove everything in. It's the most efficient way of doing it. I can't find any proof just now, but I'm getting one for christmas, and I think I will be doing a review, as there really aren't any non baised reviews on here.

I've got a Zen V Plus and the sound quality is dull and lifeless with high-end headphones. Even the Audigy in my laptop sounds much closer to my home HI-FI system than the Zen. It's passable after some fairly extreme EQ adjustment but that's not a good sign.
No, because I previously had a crappy Samsung Yepp which was two years older than the Zen V Plus. It was much cheaper too and yet had far better SQ than the Zen.
The thing that worries me is that almost everybody said that the Zen V plus had great SQ.
I guess it's impossible to know unless I listen for myself but most shops aren't willing to allow that.
actually now it has a new firmware update. the responsiveness of the touchscreen is much better n the its much faster through the menu. It also has more features such as a sudoku game.
You're right icantellmyname. Update to firmware version 1.10.04 and it's a different Zen X-Xi2. Menu scrolling and selection is much better. In additon, with 1.10.04 the transfer from microSD card to the main Zen memory is a doddle. Most importantly though, you don't have to transfer the microSD card music/video/photos to the main Zen memory because you can do your selection/play/view directly from the microSD card - it's as though you've got another Zen attached to the user-interface.
only reason i bought this mp3 and not the ipod is the microSD cart. You can upgrade this one without any buying a new one... and if you buy a 32 gb one.... you can soon buy 32 gigs microSD carts... that way u have 64... and later 64 carts is made and u can buy that one... If you like me dont give a shit for fancy apps and all kinds of stupid things buy this one or another zen cuz itst the best alternative for a good mp3 with touch or without

Hint to jugon001:- all radios as small as the Zen HAVE to have an antenna (aka aerial).
Hint No.2: It's the wire between the Zen and the headphones/earpieces that acts as the aerial.
And it's the same for ALL very small MP3 players - and a lot of not-so-small CD players/radios as well, but few will use the headphone/earbuds as an aerial..

Bought this product 3 weeks ago. the screen has broken already. ZERO durability. It literally feels like Ive had 200euro stolen from me!! Hated it anyway as NONE of my avi files would play on it. The volume was a nightmare to control and was would not settle on the preferred setting. Just the whole touch system was awful. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Youll thank me.
it's way cheaper than the ipod touch, however you can't play games, the screen isn't as responsive (resistive), there's no automatically changing the screen between landscape and portrait in photos. it feels like the processor just barely copes sometimes-- it gets pretty laggy occasionally, even with the new firmware update.
X-fi crystaliser sounds GREAT. makes me want one for my PC. . . for its price i think the x-fi 2 is everything i need.

1. Connect the ZEN X-Fi2 via the USB cable
2. Wait for the computer to detect the player as an external hard disk and open the drive "MY ZEN"
3. Double click on the "RSSSynchronizer.exe" file and the RSS Synchronizer program will pop up
4. Simply add in the RSS URL of the RSS you would wish to subscribe to and click "Add"
5. After adding, select on the Feed and click "Import"

i'm thinking about getting one of these i had one of your VERY first Mp3 players but the battery went dead after about 4yrs... Can you tell me if these are better.. I purchased a new battery,had to figure out how to out it in,worked one time and it never worked again... i am really not a fan of apple but i am not sure if i want to buy another to have it die and NO WAY to replace the battery???? any advice

@pyradarknurse nope this player sucks major ass, the xfi tech is crap it says it restores lost audio which it does not all it does is increase the sound settings like loud bass treble mids doesn't bring any thing back. was meant for mp3. the touch u have to give it kinda pressure to open apps and move the screen around.
i am having hard time looking for the perfect format for this crappy player only use avi as a container codec wmv divx 4-5 and others i cant remember. dont buy

I love my zen xfi-2, but just recently something happened. I don't know what, but the touch is wrongly calibrated. So much that i can't open settings to calibrate it again. I dont know what to do! I tried the reset button on the bottom of the screen, but it didn't work. If you know how if I can calibrate it from my pc or something, please tell me. The reason of this is also unknown.

@ornakola Hi, you can try to clean up the ZEN X-Fi2. Hold the power button to turn the player on and when the "ZEN" world appear, hold the "Home" button (yes, that's the button beside the touchscreen". Choose "Clean Up" and after that is done, select "Reboot". Do tell me if this works for you. Thanks!

1. Yes you can drag and drop videos into the ZEN X-Fi2 without using Creative Central! But make sure that it is of the format that the player supports (WMV9, MPEG4-SP3, DivX3 4/5 and XviD3 Up to 640 x 480 video size)
2. Yes you can play video off the microSD card. Again, the video format has to be one that is already supported by the player.

I have a Zen X-Fi2. I really dislike the media manager so I use MediaMonkey instead. I also dislike the limited compatibility for playback, especially video. There is no improvement to sound quality when the X-fi technology is used. In fact, I think X-fi makes compressed music sound hollow and stretched.
A plus for Zen is the SD integration. However, media playback from SD gets rescanned each time the card is accessed and Zen is incapable of resuming playback from SD once powered off.

I bought it for like 190 euro's thats 273 bucks
a friend of mine got the same nokia. but there's less space for instance ( i got the 32 gb) and its a lot slower than the Zen. so i still would go for the zen. but i dont know how much that nokia is??

ouch, creative, my nokia 5800 XpressMusic smartphone, compared to the Zen X-fi2 that i own, the sound quality of the phone sh@ts all over the x-fi: more bass and more midrange response, using the same creative ep-830 earphones.
the touchscreen is also far more responsive and fluent to use, and it's the same resistive tech as the x-fi. now i ask myself why i spent 300 bucks for a touchscreen player that is inferior to a cheaper phone that performs 5 times better in every way and does more things

Well now they have a new firmware update 1.10.04 which has improve the interface by a lot. It also has many new features such as a sudoku game and accelerometer. U SHOULD CHECK IT OUT

I think all of Creatives players work as if it were a removable device. As if it were a flash drive, you just shove everything in. It's the most efficient way of doing it. I can't find any proof just now, but I'm getting one for christmas, and I think I will be doing a review, as there really aren't any non baised reviews on here.

I've got a Zen V Plus and the sound quality is dull and lifeless with high-end headphones. Even the Audigy in my laptop sounds much closer to my home HI-FI system than the Zen. It's passable after some fairly extreme EQ adjustment but that's not a good sign.

No, because I previously had a crappy Samsung Yepp which was two years older than the Zen V Plus. It was much cheaper too and yet had far better SQ than the Zen.
The thing that worries me is that almost everybody said that the Zen V plus had great SQ.
I guess it's impossible to know unless I listen for myself but most shops aren't willing to allow that.

You're right icantellmyname. Update to firmware version 1.10.04 and it's a different Zen X-Xi2. Menu scrolling and selection is much better. In additon, with 1.10.04 the transfer from microSD card to the main Zen memory is a doddle. Most importantly though, you don't have to transfer the microSD card music/video/photos to the main Zen memory because you can do your selection/play/view directly from the microSD card - it's as though you've got another Zen attached to the user-interface.

You can upgrade this one without any buying a new one... and if you buy a 32 gb one.... you can soon buy 32 gigs microSD carts... that way u have 64... and later 64 carts is made and u can buy that one... I'm stuck with either getting this creative zen of the ipod touch but i really think this creative zen is for me because after thinking about my freetime that i have on my hands (not alot) all those apps really wont really be used alot. So i'm gonna go for this creative Zen. I also agree with you on how you can upgrade the memory. Its cheaper to get the 8gb and then buy a memory card to up the space on the device :D

In minute 1:38 it puts the radio, but it says "conect the antenna"-->headphones....how can it be possible in 2009, with an mp3 which cost 200€ with 32 GB, all of us know that if the headphones break, we don't have radio....and if you are listening with your own headphones, I can not listen to the radio?? Ipod nano 5th generation has the same system or is it integrated in the player?

Hint to jugon001:- all radios as small as the Zen HAVE to have an antenna (aka aerial).
Hint No.2: It's the wire between the Zen and the headphones/earpieces that acts as the aerial.
And it's the same for ALL very small MP3 players - and a lot of not-so-small CD players/radios as well, but few will use the headphone/earbuds as an aerial..

Bought this product 3 weeks ago. the screen has broken already. ZERO durability. It literally feels like Ive had 200euro stolen from me!! Hated it anyway as NONE of my avi files would play on it. The volume was a nightmare to control and was would not settle on the preferred setting. Just the whole touch system was awful. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Youll thank me.

it's way cheaper than the ipod touch, however you can't play games, the screen isn't as responsive (resistive), there's no automatically changing the screen between landscape and portrait in photos. it feels like the processor just barely copes sometimes-- it gets pretty laggy occasionally, even with the new firmware update.
X-fi crystaliser sounds GREAT. makes me want one for my PC. . . for its price i think the x-fi 2 is everything i need.
