Anyone remember those big Grundies waterslides at the end of Caville Ave. opposite the beach? They were awesome and fast!! I was mega disappointed when they took those things down in the late 80's and replaced it with Mini Golf and then stupid Red Rooster.
This song is no where near my favourite, still ok, but a little boring compared to alot of their others. I like the way the time coding has been covered up by the show number, looks better like that.
I love Australian Crawl's music full stop, but this one would have to be one of my Aussie Crawl favourites, but like you guys, I, too, miss the twaggy bit towards the end. Shame, as this is an otherwise awesome Countdown rendition!!
At least in the early days you could understand James' lyrics as time went on he could roll five words into one that made it intesting trying to listen to a new song
There you are... There is a bloke at my work that has an in joke with this song.. And my brother owned a XU1. funny thing is, we don't know if it was a fake or not... ha,, He wont tell. Do you remember cruising for a nude? I just can't wait babe.. I just can't wait.... funnny f---- ha
same here... turned 16 in '81 and got a mustard colour xw gs with a 302 and 4 on the floor from my dad... bought myself a tape deck for it at dick smith's elecronics and played this song over and over again...
@barticus04 Know what you mean... we'd cruise around in my boyfriends LH Torana and we thought we were all so cool putting on an aussie crawl cassette!! Remember the big cassette tape containers you'd have that would sit on the back seat awaiting selection.
@MissGreenie Ha! Ha! Brings back memories. I remember my first crush on Brian Mannix when, Uncanny X-Men first performed on CountDown with "How Do You Get Your Kicks?" Thinking he looked a bit like James Reyne. James was already my imaginary boyfriend. I thought I was the only one who saw any type of resemblence between the two.
Yeah, I got this from somebody in Melbourne. I wouldn't know if the twangy bit was included on this Countdown performance or not, because of the editing the sender did.

Essa banda é uma das maiores bandas que já existiram em todoos os tempos, pena que não receberam o vslor que deveriam.
Basta reparar na harmonia e nos arranjos, excelentes músicos, pura Surf music!!!!!!!!!
