Go and ask them, then. I never met a veteran from D-day operation, however I met few veterans from 1. Czechoslovak army corps on Eastern Front and they all wanted not be forgotten and to remind the younger generation what they fought for. Thought it was pretty cool . I have personally sen a war being fought . I was in Iraq for 3 months in the marines and I had my arm blown to bits by an RPG . They were able to reattach but it hurts sometimes . Many of my friends were killed that I went to school with and had many adventures and good times with . Kinda sad but I got over it . You just gotta do your job you know and take risks .

This is my favorite war film of all time. It was so accurate it angered many war veterans with it's ruthless betrayal of the actual conditions on Dog Green beach. THESE soldiers, although it was not their intentions when being fired upon, earned enough US. citizenship to cover 10 Americans.
