Maple used to be a really social game, you meet tons and tons of people because 60% of them didnt bother to level since leveling was so slow back then. I met tons of amazing friends who dont play anymore (/cry). Now i havent even made and good friends because everyone is so preoccupied with leveling now that its easy. -cough

Ah, middle school memories (which was 5-6 years ago for me). I tried to get back in the game during this past Christmas break and it just wasn't the same.
Old Maplestory, to me, was about it's simplicity. It wasn't a complex game, it had almost no plot, no real endgame, and it didn't try to. It was a simple game you logged onto, talked with friends, killed a few hours grinding or sitting in Henesys channel 1. Pirates to me were okay, MMOs need new content sometimes. But then they started shoveling out new classes, Cygnus Knights, Arans, Resistance, and the ones i've doubtlessly forgotten. Old Maplestory to me was just better.
MapleStory Old. Never Played it. I played Playdo Community, Playdo 2.0, Habbo UK 2003, Spineworld (Playdo 2.0 Renewed). I still play all of them. When I hear about MapleStory Changing and all, I know what you mean. Old Habbo used to be about friends, being a noob, raising hell! But now its all about corporate business. I find myself Edating. Why? I was lured into it by Sulake... corporate big business! So when I see your suffering, I understand it completely.
Why does this song mock me....I hear it laughing...laughing...the children...at home...I would rush home...now I just sit there and buy NX....I'm a loser...but....it still mocks me....the indifference that is....Old...MapleStory.
You know what, I'm older than Big Bang, Evens, Arans, Cygnus Knights, and heck, even Pirates. I'm older than Horntail, Pink Bean, and I was there when KhainPriest wasn't level 200. And you know what? I loved it more back then. I had friends that I talked aimlessly about while leeching because I was so under leveled. It had taken me a total of two years to get to level 38 because I wasn't a hardcore grinder, in fact, by that level, I had already went to Magatia, Aqua Road, Ludibrium and Leafre.
I was playing before Pirates came out. Cygnus Knights were simply out of the question for me... and now with all the new classes and whatnot... it just isn't the MapleStory it used to be. I used to be so proud when I got to level 30--now I can do it in a day. Not to mention all the people I know on there... they're all so busy leveling that we can't just sit in Henesys or El Nath and chat aimlessly. Admittedly... I really miss the real MapleStory.
Wow I dont even recognize the new maplestory. so many new places, mobs, etc. I liked V.62 before the Aran, Knights of Cygnis. Why did maple have to change? it was awesome as it was.
Back then: being level 70 was the coolest thing ever, having steelys automatically made you cool, 100k was considered alot, if you had nx you looked so pro, and if you werent level 70 being a noob was the next best thing :). Now,even if you are all these, you're still considered a loser ._. RIP Old Maplestory.

When I first tried out Maple Story back when it was new, I sorta didn't like it. I guess I went more on the RO path. But the music still makes me feel nostalgic. lol
I miss killing mush on the hunting ground with my mates. I miss travelling to Orbis and going to El Nath to kill some Jr. Yeti. I miss the fun we had when we claimed one room of the FM in Windia when we had a guildmeeting. I miss the party hunts on pig beach.
I do not miss maple as it is now. All those new things ruined it.

@calithamaria12 I agree with you that today's MapleStory has a lot more exciting feature than it did back then. But I think MapleStory back then was a lot more fun, morally. MapleStory nowadays is built upon layers of competition between classes, damage, and ranks. Making friends and being able to enjoy the game with no pressure was the real adventure. No offense to everyone else who thinks differently, but when it comes down to a social game, MapleStory is on the bottom of my list.
@korean4sin it's sad isnt it how people nowadays instead of getting to know people, they focus on grinding until their character is level 200. I mean there used to be meaning in being level 200 but now its so common that people could play for a month and get there. |:
its not just the change in gameplay only though, for example nowadays being in a guild you probably don't even know half the people there while back in the old days we would be like family with practically everyone in our guilds O:
@korean4sin I agree 100% I used to play Maple Story when it first came out, and we were all new. I loved how we could explore new things, and no one was made fun of for being a "noob" because we all were. Now a days, starting on MS is basically a sin and places a gigantic target on your forehead that says "HEY, PICK ON ME. I'M NEW!"
@korean4sin totally agree.. haha.. making friends back then was super easy and great. i loved running away from rogs. i heard its super easy now. all the lvling up is easy. it shouldnt be cauhs it was so much better back then when you had to work for it. i hate the cash and money whores now. new maplers arent that great no offense. its all about competition for them like no lie. its not about having fun to them no more :/ it was best in '06-'08.
@korean4sin I dislike big bang except for the fact that its easier to level. I mean back then, to level you basically did kerning pq, and then after that, you grinded and did quests. But now, the maps arent even the same, and I miss the old ways :(
@korean4sin I totally agree with this statement. Five years ago, when I was playing, by the time I got to level 70, I had well over 200 friends. However, when I tried again post-Big Bang, I got to level 70 again, and I only made one friend.
Although it's great that you can level fast now, I'd rather the game be slow-paced so that you can enjoy Maplestory rather than have it strictly competition.
@korean4sin Totally agree! I really miss the old MapleStory, even though it's easier to level now.. People were just be people back then, not caring about classes or damage. And barely anyone does any quests anymore. I still do though, haha. :D

@vietxmikey9l now, you just log in on the actual site... then click "play" and it launches maplestory, but takes you straight to the world/channel selection. therefore skipping the title page where the dramatic 'maplestory' title first appears and stuff, right before you usually select your world...

They ruined the adventourus fun, but made grinding easier.
Before: Lv. 10 = henesys hunting ground, Lv. 15 = Pig beach, Lv. 20 = Ant tunnel, Lv. 30 = Boars or ossyria and further hard levling
Now: Lv.10 = Most parts around the towns Lv. 20 = Places far away from town, Lv.30 CPQ, Lv. 50 Sleepywood drakes.. easy.

My Brother always told me, im to young cause my english was very very bad.
But i didnt listen'd to him and started to play, over and over again.
I remember how i was enjoying that masterpiece-music all around the MapleWorld.
No competition, no fighting each other, no scamming, no hackers.
Just play TOGETHER, level'ing TOGETHER, waiting for the Party-Quest over 30 Minutes, just to join.

I am legally considered an adult.
Listening to this made me feel nostalgic of my childhood. Somehow I feel relaxed and at home listening to this soundtrack.
I will never trade those hours I spent in the past playing MapleStory for anything!
It was almost a religious experience to play this game after coming home from school. The time I spend hunting and and nurturing my avatar day after day making in to my ideal character.
Those days will be missed.

Old Maplestory, to me, was about it's simplicity. It wasn't a complex game, it had almost no plot, no real endgame, and it didn't try to. It was a simple game you logged onto, talked with friends, killed a few hours grinding or sitting in Henesys channel 1. Pirates to me were okay, MMOs need new content sometimes. But then they started shoveling out new classes, Cygnus Knights, Arans, Resistance, and the ones i've doubtlessly forgotten. Old Maplestory to me was just better.

MapleStory Old. Never Played it. I played Playdo Community, Playdo 2.0, Habbo UK 2003, Spineworld (Playdo 2.0 Renewed). I still play all of them. When I hear about MapleStory Changing and all, I know what you mean. Old Habbo used to be about friends, being a noob, raising hell! But now its all about corporate business. I find myself Edating. Why? I was lured into it by Sulake... corporate big business! So when I see your suffering, I understand it completely.

You know what, I'm older than Big Bang, Evens, Arans, Cygnus Knights, and heck, even Pirates. I'm older than Horntail, Pink Bean, and I was there when KhainPriest wasn't level 200. And you know what? I loved it more back then. I had friends that I talked aimlessly about while leeching because I was so under leveled. It had taken me a total of two years to get to level 38 because I wasn't a hardcore grinder, in fact, by that level, I had already went to Magatia, Aqua Road, Ludibrium and Leafre.

I was playing before Pirates came out. Cygnus Knights were simply out of the question for me... and now with all the new classes and whatnot... it just isn't the MapleStory it used to be. I used to be so proud when I got to level 30--now I can do it in a day. Not to mention all the people I know on there... they're all so busy leveling that we can't just sit in Henesys or El Nath and chat aimlessly. Admittedly... I really miss the real MapleStory.

Wow I dont even recognize the new maplestory. so many new places, mobs, etc. I liked V.62 before the Aran, Knights of Cygnis. Why did maple have to change? it was awesome as it was.

Back then: being level 70 was the coolest thing ever, having steelys automatically made you cool, 100k was considered alot, if you had nx you looked so pro, and if you werent level 70 being a noob was the next best thing :). Now,even if you are all these, you're still considered a loser ._. RIP Old Maplestory.

If you got to 2nd job at 50 was a fricken achievment, hell, 3rd job seem to be crazy.
Dont get me wrong, i still play and have fun but back then. The game was more of fun social community, no pressure.

I miss killing mush on the hunting ground with my mates. I miss travelling to Orbis and going to El Nath to kill some Jr. Yeti. I miss the fun we had when we claimed one room of the FM in Windia when we had a guildmeeting. I miss the party hunts on pig beach.
I do not miss maple as it is now. All those new things ruined it.

@calithamaria12 I agree with you that today's MapleStory has a lot more exciting feature than it did back then. But I think MapleStory back then was a lot more fun, morally. MapleStory nowadays is built upon layers of competition between classes, damage, and ranks. Making friends and being able to enjoy the game with no pressure was the real adventure. No offense to everyone else who thinks differently, but when it comes down to a social game, MapleStory is on the bottom of my list.

@korean4sin it's sad isnt it how people nowadays instead of getting to know people, they focus on grinding until their character is level 200. I mean there used to be meaning in being level 200 but now its so common that people could play for a month and get there. |:
its not just the change in gameplay only though, for example nowadays being in a guild you probably don't even know half the people there while back in the old days we would be like family with practically everyone in our guilds O:

@korean4sin I agree 100% I used to play Maple Story when it first came out, and we were all new. I loved how we could explore new things, and no one was made fun of for being a "noob" because we all were. Now a days, starting on MS is basically a sin and places a gigantic target on your forehead that says "HEY, PICK ON ME. I'M NEW!"

@korean4sin totally agree.. haha.. making friends back then was super easy and great. i loved running away from rogs. i heard its super easy now. all the lvling up is easy. it shouldnt be cauhs it was so much better back then when you had to work for it. i hate the cash and money whores now. new maplers arent that great no offense. its all about competition for them like no lie. its not about having fun to them no more :/ it was best in '06-'08.

@korean4sin I dislike big bang except for the fact that its easier to level. I mean back then, to level you basically did kerning pq, and then after that, you grinded and did quests. But now, the maps arent even the same, and I miss the old ways :(

@korean4sin I totally agree with this statement. Five years ago, when I was playing, by the time I got to level 70, I had well over 200 friends. However, when I tried again post-Big Bang, I got to level 70 again, and I only made one friend.
Although it's great that you can level fast now, I'd rather the game be slow-paced so that you can enjoy Maplestory rather than have it strictly competition.

maplestory is held within all of our hearts deep, no one can break the bond with us and maplestory...the memories, scams, trades, adventures, leveling, even dying and dcing...maplestory today is ruined...but those of us who were from before in 2005 and 06, we are the ones who had gotten the best, that was our reign of joy and excitement, we are the ones who hold the old maplestory within our hearts. we are the memory keepers in maplestory history...love and joy - to whereever maple brings you...

@vietxmikey9l now, you just log in on the actual site... then click "play" and it launches maplestory, but takes you straight to the world/channel selection. therefore skipping the title page where the dramatic 'maplestory' title first appears and stuff, right before you usually select your world...

@vietxmikey9l i know right... i don't understand why nexon is doing all of this. the game's so mutilated now, i mean, there are these signs that pop up everywhere to tell you which direction to go, i'm drowning in all these new quests, lightbulbs above your head every 2 seconds, and all you ever see are cygnus knights, arans, and evans--im like "where the heck are the original 4??" grrrr! and last i logged on, there was an alien invasion too. all monsters turned into aliens...

I think they were trying to add so many new features to draw in other players that were beginning to get bored, idk. but they made it worse. arans and evans.. they don't really branch off anywhere. they're a totally new class. but, arans are kinda like overpowered warriors and evans are like magicians cept with a dragon :/
