This was reissued as an import CD several years ago and is now out of print. The album itself is an amazing testament of Coke's talent as a musician. This song in particular is a standout, with wonderfully soaring vocals that exude emotion missing from much of today's music. Though I am a huge fan of Lamont Dozier, this is still my favorite version. Top tune indeed!
I've got the LP (vinyl) this song is on. I still love it. I used to go see his band play regularly at the Square Apple in Jack London Square back in the day.
Sheila E's uncle...backup for Santana back in the day...this is REAL music. Thank God for the digital age, this music will live on eternally for new generations to come
You know...I have to admit. With the arrival of "neosoul" r&b has improved over the past couple of years. But I'm sorry...it'll never touch this! Nice post!
I was in 8th grade when this album was released. It was the beginning of my own extensive, personal music collection. Great, great song! Even greater album!
A great one to hear, or to dance...great!

I loved the original of this song, but bought this one as a curiousity and fell in love with this version as well....Well done, Mr. Escovedo.
