  • 9:16 allday

  • ahahahahahahahha it's so funny, love nature :)

  • It's a bit problematic that many people doesn't know the meaning of "theory" in the scientific method a "theory" is an proven fact.

  • I fucking love this gorilla.

  • @chasemaxwell me to

  • Koko wants smoosh smoosh

  • What would happen if you showed Koko a zoom out in google earth starting from her garden to space? Do you think she would understand the earth is round?

  • @wolfgangouille No, that's retarded.

  • @shmonnorshmusie IKR, Earth is TOTALLY FLAT !

  • the gorillas are not agressive they just want to live on their own

  • gorillas more dangerous than chimpanzees? lol no.

  • Yeah, thanks youtube. Let me find this video before I need to go to bed. ---_____---

  • @TheSideShort OMG i agree i was about to go to bed!

  • I feel like they treat koko like an experiment and dont show him proper love. Also, a dog can do a lot of this same stuff if it had hand dexterity, as dogs also understand language. This is really not that surprising. You can also teach a dog sign/gesture language. A dog will do whatever you teach it to every time it wants to go for a walk or outside.

  • @zooMZooMlikeATyphOOn but if you actually studied koko you would understand that koko understands complex emotion such as grief and love and understands spoken word its not simply conditioning with this ape if there is no sign for something the ape creates a sign for it you can actually have a full conversation with the ape and not sign a word to it and apes have an iq of around 85 which is equivalent to about 1 in every 7 people

  • @zooMZooMlikeATyphOOn Koko is a female and if you see todays videos of her.. she's loved by everyone.

  • Why don't you ask the gorilla what she really thinks of you?

  • Koko the gorilla from kook.org calls a brush "Scratching comb"

  • hey! it signs just the monkeys in the new apes movie! i didnt know they really could learn it!

  • Incredible.

  • Killing a gorilla should be considered murder. Do you see this gorilla actually viewing photos and getting it?

  • @Paschal58 It's illegal, since gorillas are halfway to being extinct.

  • Some people may watch this and think "Yeah it's impressive but they are still below us." but then you got to think. I know I'll probably never learn any sign language in my entire life-time and these apes already know more than I do. I bet the same goes for 90% of people.

  • I guess Ive got a talent because I could tell that the gorilla wanted a treated long before they caught on. She had to open her mouth because they weren't getting it.

  • aren't those people worried about the chimps and gorilla's suddenly attacking them ?

  • Imagine if the gorilla started saying stuff like "screw these lessons" or "let me go".

  • Its not that apes are smart; rather, its just that some people are so stupid! Language - a uniquely human phenomenon - is beyond the capacity of even intelligent primates like gorillas. All this study proves is that you can teach monkeys certain verbal and physical cues (usually for food). These cues link to basic primate behavioral contexts; which the film suggests constitutes 'a culture' (?). It proves nothing. You can teach your pet dog to roll over for a biscuit. So what's new?

  • hahahaha 9:30....titty twister is the same in sign language as real life

  • 8:26 funny

  • don't understand how natural selection works?

    don't understand how bigbang works?

imagine up a magical creator :)

  • Is the movie planet of the apes (2011) based on this ? Because it's in sanfansisco and the ape talks??

  • @coolkid92003 rise of the planet of apes is based on Oliver the chimpanzee, search about it ti was really different from other chimpanzees maybe it had a human ancestor before humans evolved into a different species

  • 6:36 - 6:55

Is anyone else but me SURPRISED at this?

  • Damn Penny had it goin on back in the day

  • this is so sad being forced to sit there and repeat words

  • we dont come from apes

  • @TheJoec2005 if you're going to state an idea...you should at least back it up with proof...

  • Lol the gorilla is chillin in the front seat

  • this video does not prove ANIMALS have a conscience, it proves that primates have some degree of a conscience. it'd be interesting to know if they feel guilt or regret.

  • @slampants it'd be interesting to know if they feel...

They do, they also share a sense for justice. A littler anecdote:for chimps a grape is better then a piece of apple. Both apes could see each other and where supposed to do the same task. After that one got a grape, the other just a piece of apple. After that happened the third time in a row the apple ape didnt want the apple and refused to do more tasks, he felt cheated. Interestingly the other showed support and went also on strike

  • @slampants That is proven, but what is more interesting is that it seems guilt and regret stems from social fear. Thus, as long as any animal has social mechanisms it has the ability to feel "guilt", but in many cases only a primate can feel regret, as it involves councious activity beyond most other mammals. I am sure you have seen a dog experience guilt. It is cute to watch when a dog tries to hide his action.

  • Ah the brilliance that is when people discover for themselves that animals share the same emotions that most people feel.

Cats for example and their communication through facial expression is largely misunderstood and goes unnoticed by a lot of people.

Elephants are smarter than chimps and communicate in the same way that a cat does, through facial expressions, Elephants probably have a language as advanced as our own which we are unable to comprehend.

We think too highly of our intelligence.

  • @Twiztidninjas i agree yet, you seem to think too lowly of our intelligence. elephants language is obviously not as advanced as ours, no animals is. we talk with our hands, with our faces, with everything.

  • @slampants The more research we do into animal intelligence, be it sharks or apes, the smarter we claim they are.

every year dozens of studies come out stating that this that and this other animal over here are all smarter than previously thought.

It is people that do no know how to understand the animals that is the problem,

It is only when people start to realize we are not apart from nature but a part of it that they stop looking for human traits -

  • @Twiztidninjas - and start observing animals and their behavior towards one and other that we stop dismissing their actions as instinct and start to realize their true intelligence.

Time and time again i have heard a nature show dismiss what appears to be intelligent communication as instinct instead of observing it and studying how the information is passed down (Such as Elephants mourning not only for their known relatives but their ancestors)

  • These incredible creatures shouldn't be domesticated or captivated.

  • this proves that animals absolutely have a conscience!

  • 9:29 Koko goes right for the BOOB!!!

  • who came here coz of big bang theory haha

  • @kowy41 not me, I came here because I actually know about Koko :P

  • I got here starting with video about cheese...

  • Hate top coments because now I have to search the comment of TopHatGiux

  • At 1:00

    "Koko is a gorilla..."

    Oreally?

  • @OddOpinion

Yes Humans and Primates are very similiar in the way we communicate AND nEGOTIATE. FOR EG cHIMPANZEES and Humans share similar attributes and also work together. Chimpanzees can riot in groups with extreme aggression similar to humans starting riots in huge groups whateves just everybody read a book aye

  • @XxKillinBRUHxX I'm not stating whether or not we are similar, that alone is obvious, I am stating both Chimpanzees and humans used to be the same species at one point.

  • @TopHatGiux

um why they didn't evolve into humans as well is because of isolation evolution. READ ABOUT IT. Or wait until they teach you at school

  • Planet of the Apes, anyone?

  • Do Gorillas have gangs? Like the Gorrilas, and the crip chimps.

  • Who knows what complicated things could be going on their minds.

  • THE RISE OF THE PLANETS OF THE APES

  • It's shit like this that absolutely astounds me how anyone could reject evolution. It's so incredibly obvious that primates are tied to humans.

  • @TopHatGiux LOL go back to sleep

  • @TopHatGiux The primate we evolved from is no longer around, monkeys evolved just as much as humans did, google "Humans and monkeys common ancestors." We did not evolve from monkeys or Gorillas, we have evolved from the same ancestor as monkeys have. So we are related to monkeys and Gorillas but only if you go far back in to the evolutionary line.

  • @OddOpinion It is like having a cousin isnt it? Same ancestors different gene.

  • @mch158 Not really, its more like if your cousins childrens, childrens, childrens, childrens so on and so forth eventually became a species different from your direct decedents.

  • @TopHatGiux The early ancestors of gorillas and humans separated to different groups (isolation). For some groups, big size protected them for predators. Intelligence was requirement for some groups, since food wasnt easily accessible.

It is not always like "clever ones are most successful species" sometimes other features are better for current enviroment. Thats why all primates didnt evolve to humans, and also thats why there is so big variety of species in this planet.

  • @TehRasia That is also why the human sub species are so diverse, without bringing racism into it, there are 20 human subspecies each different and better/worse at different tasks, be it intelligence, athletics, environmental adaptation etc.

The one thing wrong with the human species as a whole is we are not one species, we are 20 different species.

  • @TopHatGiux

Are you stupid? The theory of evolution states that we SHARE a common ancestor, not that we evolved directly from modern apes. Learn your facts.

  • @xxESPx I'm not on any side of your debate here, but it seems rather contradictory when you say "theory" then you say "Learn your facts." Perhaps you should carefully consider the words you choose before calling anyone "stupid" on the internet.

  • @avalonkiller

If you read it properly, I used the term "fact" to describe what the "theory" of evolution states. I'm not directly calling the "theory" of evolution factual. However, one COULD call it factual and give a mound of evidence and scientific study to back it up.

  • @xxESPx I'd recommend looking up the two words in the dictionary.

  • @avalonkiller

I'd recommend you learn how to read.

  • @avalonkiller Perhaps you should carefully consider the words you choose before calling anyone "stupid" on the internet.

It was absolutely correct what he said:

    1. the theory of evolution describes the fact of evolution

    2. We know many facts about the theory of evolution. If you want to discuss this subject you should know this facts.

Get it now what he meant any why he said it correct ?

  • @xxESPx Debating is only functional when you debate with someone who know basic learning techniques.

  • @GnosticAtheist

True but it's difficult not to put idiots in their place.

  • @xxESPx I completely understand. I have been online since the very beginning of (internet) time. I am just warning you, but I am sure you know this yourself. I troll people like that all the time, using base science and rethorics, making them judge me ("you are going to hell!" etc). Then I explain what happens to those that judge, according to the bible. It is very amusing.

  • @xxESPx its funny and sad how confidently they ask that question like its a deal breaker for evolution that scientists somehow overlooked.

  • @TopHatGiux The only thing you proved is your total ignorance of the matter.

  • @TopHatGiux You must feel pretty stupid now huh? :p

  • @TopHatGiux FUCKING MORON...

  • @MrProtuber dont you mean?

    *puts sunglasses one*

    A Mormon!?

  • I agree with discocreator76

  • @discocreator76 i still prefer gorillas than niggers :)

  • @daswerck91 i thought they were the same? my mistake

  • @discocreater76 and its clear to say you have no intellectual intelligence about what you were talking about.

  • @discocreater76 u obiously know nothing about what you are talking about do you ? That sounds like some bs you made up to sound intelligent when clearly you failed... Black or white it doesnt matter humans evolved from apes. Really wtf makes you come up with a conclusion like that ( white people evolved from chimps) and ( black people evolved from gorillas ) basically chimps and silverbacks are the same thing except silverbacks are stronger and are leaders and have silver backs

  • yeah now next there gonna learn about violence and guns .And sooner or later there gonna talk like us then there gonna attack there trainers and take over the world

  • koko is the man! if you can pardon the little technical inaccuracy

  • the voice of the narrator sounds like the guy on the animal planet show with the chimps. escape to chimp eden

  • kokoe linda sua historia de vida

  • IQ sucks.

  • Now teach it that it's going to die.

  • there taking over man!!!

  • CEASER IS HOME.

  • Looks inpatient.

  • I''ve seen this on tv, i think.

  • i really find dr patterson beautiful. am i alone? try to check at 7:06 of this video.

  • AMAZING

  • why dont you make a chimp/gorilla family and teach them and there young how to speak..then the monkeys will learn how to talk without you helping them because the adults will teach there young

  • gorillas would make good house guards

  • lol if a policeman controles that car and thene theres an ape

  • @BassFIow How the heck are you going to stop them? They'd much more likely kill you in the process.

Just so you know, they aren't 'put in cages'. Go to the San Diego Zoo. There's like a bazillion miles of territory for every animal there, and they all are made to look just like their habitats. Would you rather have them there, or just dump them all in a place where they become hunted and killed ferociously?

You're just like all the other dumb PETArds; totally incapable of logical thought.

  • The ape recognized the word's but do they know what they mean?

  • @GabberReith yes. we know this because they can mix signs to give meaning to objects that they don't have single signs for. calling watermelon drink-fruit is an example.

  • fuck the voice on 1:00 suprised me

  • @BassFIow ...

    5:23 - 5:55

Gee, don't you just have Koko's best interests in mind.

  • IM FUCKING BETTER THAN THAT!!!

  • tobacco isn't my pipes food...

  • @bubbie10 rofl i love it

  • 9:30 hahaha!

  • 5:46 !! Check that Gorilla pull that tree STRAIGHT OUT OF THE GROUND!!

    Stop That

    But Koko firsty

XD I died at that part

  • 9:30 boob grab haha.

  • @bandet888 probably

  • i wish i had a gorilla so hecould do me a headjob any time i wanted to....

  • @SuperMarvin37 he would rip your dick off!

  • @owenpat well i hope he does it slooooooooowwwwwwwlllllllyyyyyyyyy xD

  • wow penny is young...

  • it always depresses me like shit to hear of animals having there habitats destroyed and what not : ( we're gona wipe everything out fukn shit man fun kill all humans fukk

  • Dont give the chimp tobacco its bad for him!!!! Weed is safer

  • lol i saw da gorilla

  • NOOOO!!!! ....... cezar is home

  • @bettaman94 I THOUGHT THE SAME THING

  • our lang. ist not poss. the learn for the monkeys....

  • @mittelmeerschlag Actually, chimps could speak our "lang". It would be "poss" if a certain organ/bone is removed in their throat. (Can't remember)

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder if the reason chimps can't form words is because their vocal cords are to high? I wonder if someone tries to teach a chimp to talk he can say the words using higher vocal cords himself to see if the chimp cam mimic the sound?

  • They should let the Gorilla drive, Plus how does the gorilla see what the people are signing if she is always looking away?

  • i hope they rebel against us humans some day

  • @iddicted even though they deserve to have a revolution with us I don't think I want one :/

  • I like the blonde girl

  • 0:34 - 00:36

    Darkness.... CHARLIE MURPHY

  • Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!

  • I heard Koko knew the word for finger, and bracelet, but not for a ring. So when she was asked to describe a ring, she called it a finger-bracelet.

  • Green jeep didn't use turn signals at all. :(

  • HOLY SHIT! RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES!

  • I DIED AT 9:28 xD

  • @jaclark67

the human race is in general, HIGHLY aggressive compared with any other animal.

  • You know, is it possible for us humans to get a hold of a baby gorilla and raise it like a human? Would it be able to actually speak English clearly? Someone please reply.

  • @johnsnake71 2:35 did you even watch the video?

  • @johnsnake71 yes, it is possible, u are just a proof of speaking english baby gorilla, ask your mom if u dont believe me, u are not human as u think u are . !!!!

  • @karampang haha funny.

  • @karampang very very very very very bad joke.

  • Nice, next why don't we teach them how to say NOOOO!!!

  • ceasar and maurice can do sign language in rise of the planet of the apes

  • Gorillas are complete herbivores, whereas chimps are omnivores and eat some small monkeys.

  • rise of the planet of the apes

  • jesus CHRIST LEAVE THE POOR ANIMAL ALONE..... BIG DEAL ITS SMART WE ALL KNOW THIS, NOW GO LIVE LIKE THEM IN THE WILD AND SEE HOW MUCH YOU LIKE IT

  • @GOODBYE1209

You seem to have forgotton that their homeland is being taken over.

Also, studying her could prove useful.

  • Koko pulls on her tit...."stop that be nice".

  • wow they're just chillin in the car listening to music and evereything! lol

  • humans can talk because we can, more or less, freely breath as we make sounds. which is by coincidence what gives us the ability to choke on food and die as we eat, as our throat doesn't separate our "tubes" very well. but it's practical use have been so strong it still evolved, and our brain adapted to it.

also these people in this film have done amazing work, and they prove beyond doubt the emotional life of these creatures. thus make a strong statement for other animals' feelings as well.

  • @Devoti I think it's simply because we humans have more complex vocal chords. The only other animal that has vocal chords equivalent to ours is a parrot.

  • @freedfighter96 i didn't make up the theory on my own, you know. so think whatever you want.

  • 9:28 "Yay, tities!" "stop that -_-" super cool documentary by the way.

  • I loooooove Koko, and think she is amazing. The only part of the video that bothers me is the chain around her neck. Why was that necessary? My dream would be to get a hug from Koko. I know...not going to happen, but I WISH.....

  • Tobacco is pipe food! XD

  • @PufferBluntman hahaha XD that made me giggle, so cute. I'm going to call tobacco pipe food from now on ^_^

  • this is whats gonna kill us nex year

  • Koko is definitely laying down his ape pipe on Penny

  • its only a matter of time..
