The slant six is a very good build up and makes a lot of power. The videos on her are blowing away 40,000 cars that are new like a cameross, pontiac gto a new one. The name of the video is mad max slant six this gut is king the v8s. Don't nder estimate the power of the leaning tower of power the buzzing half duzzing and over kill just to name a few nakes the slant six has been called.
That is a 225 that was bored and stroked out to 258. Lots to head work including oversized valves. To learn everything about this motor search Eileen on the SlantSix dot Org site. I sold the motor and its running around in a Dakota. That guys on that site also. The car currently has a 340 V8 in it now.
@BrenSlant is manual or automatic?... que cambios le hiciste al motor para lograr hacer eso con las ruedas traseras?... I am from Uruguay, and use a translator to write, sorry for errors!
Gorgeous car: sounds great, and I'm sure it runs like a bandit. I had three stock slant sixes over the years: Powerful, economical, and virtually indestructible.
Pretty sweet lookin fish man.... missed out on 1 of these on ebay damn it!! Had the 273 though.. I,m swiftly changing my mind on the slant 6.. I thought they were a boat anchor.. How wrong was I!!!!
Hi there - I am from Belgium Bruxelles - and I used to own a barracuda 1967 fastback - midnight blue - a slant 6 225 or 228 I forgot (3,8 liters) - and as you said, it run great - never had a problem with it - travellled around EUROPE many times - very reliable engine
Oh, just stop whining and be happy you have big engines and cheap gas in US. Here in Europe, gas is $6 a gallon and we all have 1.2 - 1.6 engines. 225cid is an imaginative noun for us, or, for that matter, anything above 121cid (2L) is great. I drive 83cid engine and dream of slant 6 or blown 383 or anything larger than this. So...just be happy with what you have, cause most of the world ain't peaches and cream :-(
Slant Six is just as good as a 318. The Slant Six has something in common with the B/RB engines and that is the deep-skirted block. Which engine had this feature first is unknown to me. The Slant Six raced in NASCAR before the 426 Hemi.
The Slant Six Is a runner, granted it is a Six, But still has ALOT of potential. They are actually not much lighter than a LA-V8! I like this lil Six Cuda
Nice 'Cuda man, great work on the engine too, sounds great. An inspiration to continue restoration on my '67 Dodge Dart w/ 225, owned for 35 years, since high school.
Man i miss my car i had in high school, a two door 77 Aspen with a "super Six" it couldn't hold a candle to this slant six but i beat the hell out if it and it never let me down...i miss my slant six :-(
damn man, that sound like heaven to me, I used to have an old 73, swinger and that bitch with a three speed pissed alot of people off. It was an amazing engine naturally aspirated I can only imagine what it handled with forced induction. For shit sake it has it's better half hanging to the left.
what did you do to that engine i always remember the old tired slants from my grandpas cars thought they were dogs evidentely they can make some power
Sounds good to me.That idle problem well do you have a special cam in it?One other thing have you adjusted your air mix screws on the carb They can make them runn ruff or shaky.I have adjusted mine and watched it smooth out .You may know how to adjust them but close one all way off them start to do the same on the other till it allmost dies then back off then go to the other one back off till it runs smooth. When its idling if you put your hand over carb and the engine speeds up carb stoped up??
What rear end do you have in your cuda'

Yea but the bore on a 318 is small.
If you bored a 318 0.60 over it would still have a smaller bore than a stock 340 and 360.
But they do last.

dusterdude225 2 years ago
That's becasuse you don't know the potential of these slant 6's the slant six can handle waaay more power without blowing

slant six is a better choice then a 318 they perform the same i have a 66 dart with a stock slant six and it still has some good power
styylite 2 years ago
318's are way to overweight and not a good performance choice at all
styylite 2 years ago 3
not true. I've got a 400hp 318 built. its not hard and its a mild motor.
minidakota318 2 years ago
@styylite I love both the 318 AND /6. They are both meant to do the job and last forever. The 318 is only 50 lbs heavier than the slant though.
