Pavarotti is pretty much the only one who sings it as it probably should have been sung: softly. The other two, however, belted it out, especially Carreras. :/
@ZSy264 No, I'm not being mean; he is fantastic. I'm sorry if you took offense. I just think singing a lullaby with forte (loudness) just doesn't seem to be the right mood. I'm not attacking him personally. He does sing softly in some parts.
Nah, I knew you weren't being mean, just kidding there. My point is that his voice always seem very loud because of the resonance it has. Absolutely beautiful in my opinion.
I love this song, I have never heard it in a male voice. Thanks for uploading it. However, I don't understand why Carreras sings his part so forte, this is supossed to be a lullaby! Any baby would wake up and cry with such a loud voice, ha ha.
@ejrouge XD I know! It would've been nicer if he sang a little softer to fit the mood of the song. He once did the exact same thing with "Mille Cherubini in Coro". That one is supposed to be sung softly, but he sang it way too loud.
@prescoed You're right about it not being sung too often. It is definitely not sung as often as Brahms' "Wiegenlied" (the best-known and most-sung lullaby in the world).

hey! Don't be mean to carreras, he's awesome! But I see your point. Personally i think it's just his voice that has that cutting quality to it.
