I agree. It is one thing to detach oneself from the job; people in that type of work have to be distant from what happened to do their job. However, making fun of the victims, calling them "bitches", laughing about their deaths, acting as though they never mattered, saying things like , "kill kill kill." Just dispicable. I can understand some detachment in order to do the work and cope with the smell, the contamination threats, and dealing with picking up body parts. It does not seem to be detached, it seems to be that he has no compassion for people. It is not uncommon that he would chose such a job. The host should be in a job to help people, he has a natural empathy for suffering. The feelings of compassion and empathy must not be killed or detached from. A compassionate person can do such a job but they will do it to help somehow not for the money only.

I tend to feel that happy stories, pictures and videos, of people enjoying life, of tropical beaches, and summer vacations, and the like are depressing and painful for me to watch. Watching people enjoy life is painful because it reminds me of what I don't have. Watching tragedy and suffering and horror makes me happy because it makes me feel that I'm better off than some.
I have a theory for why I feel this way, and why a lot of people enjoy watching tragedies on TV when they are feeling down. It evokes a sense of perspective and relativity, that there are people in the world who are a lot worse off than you. In the case of a suicide, there is some happiness in how that person is no longer suffering.

I've battled depression for many years & I have thought about taking my life on several occasions & when you are thinking like that you don't think about what will happen to those left behind, The only thing you are thinking about is just wanting the pain & sadness you are going through to go away. Suicide has absolutely nothing to do with being selfish or weak it's a cry for help & sadly for some it will never come.

This, for me, is very upsetting. The attitude of the american guy is wrong, although, its ones of those jobs where, if you get emotionally caught up, you would never be able to function properly. That is not to say that agree with the rubbish that seems to naturally ebb out of his mouth. Suicide for me, is a very sensitive area, a few years ago i tried to end my life in this way, luckily, i was found. I will regret what i have mentally and emotionally done to the person that found me forever.

When these cleaners are hired, families are never there to watch them do their job. All they know is that at the end of the day, they get the job done. Poeple won't stop utilizing his services because he's abit of an arsehole. They don't really care as long as they dont have to deal with him personally. I understand that a person doing this job needs to detach themselves emotionally. A doctor who is squeamish and afraid of blood cannot do his job properly. The same applies in this business; if you get involved and over-think it, you cannot survive in this industry.

It's easy to have that point of view if you have never lost a loved one to suicide or have ever been in such a bad place that you've considered it yourself. Ask someone who has and their point of view is very different. I myself have lost someone this way.
I am not trying to flame you for your opinion, but suicide (and the underlying causes) are too complex to be written off as "an escape for the week". If someone close to you ends up committing suicide, then maybe you'll understand.

A person in such a state of despair has little control over their own feelings, let alone the feelings of others. The person in my life who committed suicide "gave a shit" about my feelings, but she did not feel the same about herself and this ultimately led to her demise.

I do this for a living. I shut myself off from any emotional feelings about who the person is or what happend to them. I think Neal is a Jackass but thats his personality. I agree. It is one thing to detach oneself from the job; people in that type of work have to be distant from what happened to do their job. It does not seem to be detached, it seems to be that he has no compassion for people. It is not uncommon that he would chose such a job. The host should be in a job to help people, he has a natural empathy for suffering. The feelings of compassion and empathy must not be killed or detached from. A compassionate person can do such a job but they will do it to help somehow not for the money only.

It evokes a sense of perspective and relativity, that there are people in the world who are a lot worse off than you. if you are suicidal, you are sick, its an illness!!one of my loved ones killed themselves, and NO i absolutely dont think he was selfish!! he was one of the most kind human beeing i knew. that to me is evidence enough that when you are suicidal you dont think like you normaly do, cuz if he did he would never do it. and i dont feel sorry for myself, i feel sorry for him, cuz he was the one who were in so much pain that he wanted to die. so much ignorance regarding suicide out there..

yh i agree that the american guy is abit of a dick but from his point of view the messier the suicide murder etc the more money he got paid , for him it was a 1 way system u get in their , clean up, get paid . Its not a matter of whether u care or not if this guy cared do u think he would have made a business out of it , He's just one of those people that are mentally stronger than others , i bet the first ever time he cleaned up he was like ashley but gradually over time it became the norm

This, for me, is very upsetting. The attitude of the american guy is wrong, although, its ones of those jobs where, if you get emotionally caught up, you would never be able to function properly. That is not to say that agree with the rubbish that seems to naturally ebb out of his mouth. Suicide for me, is a very sensitive area, a few years ago i tried to end my life in this way, luckily, i was found. I will regret what i have mentally and emotionally done to the person that found me forever.

I seen another vid here and there's a guy named "Ron" who's also a crime scene cleaner who is amazingly compassionate and respectful. I was rather glad to have found that they aren't all like this cold f*ucker. Hopefuly he's an exception and most are like Ron.

When these cleaners are hired, families are never there to watch them do their job. All they know is that at the end of the day, they get the job done. Poeple won't stop utilizing his services because he's abit of an arsehole. They don't really care as long as they dont have to deal with him personally. Im pretty sure he was the same as the Englishman when he first started out in the business. For these types of jobs, you need to build a hard exterior in order to get it all done.

I understand that a person doing this job needs to detach themselves emotionally. A doctor who is squeamish and afraid of blood cannot do his job properly. The same applies in this business; if you get involved and over-think it, you cannot survive in this industry.
However, Neil really stepped over a line when he called the poor girl a bitch. Sure, it's not his tragedy, but at least have some respect for a human life that has been lost.

It's easy to have that point of view if you have never lost a loved one to suicide or have ever been in such a bad place that you've considered it yourself. Ask someone who has and their point of view is very different. I myself have lost someone this way.
I am not trying to flame you for your opinion, but suicide (and the underlying causes) are too complex to be written off as "an escape for the week". If someone close to you ends up committing suicide, then maybe you'll understand.

A person in such a state of despair has little control over their own feelings, let alone the feelings of others. The person in my life who committed suicide "gave a shit" about my feelings, but she did not feel the same about herself and this ultimately led to her demise.
Like I said, unless you have been affected by suicide, you have no idea. It's easy to say it's an escape for the weak and it's selfish if you have had the luxury not to have dealt with it. Hopefully you never will.

I hope that the areas that use his services stop using him. How can you have no regard for the family of this girls family who may see this show? Doctors and nurses see people die everyday but they don't take their lives for granted, if anything they understand how precious life is. Also, I noticed that he often sprayed bloody areas, allowing them to aerosolize so they can reach the ceiling to reactivate during someones shower. How sanitary is that?

SOMEONE has to clean that shit up. people die everyday and he's probably seen so much of it, it doesn't affect him anymore. maybe its just his way of detatching himself. whats easier? cleaning a room full of blood thinking about what happened to the person, or detatching yourself from the situation, even if that means acting like a jackass?

I do this for a living. I shut myself off from any emotional feelings about who the person is or what happend to them. I think Neal is a Jackass but thats his personality. I dont want to know who these people are but sometimes the family is there and they tell you all about them. I just listen to them, they need to vent or get feelings out. Sometimes on the job things happen that make you laugh or piss you off, but whatever I say Is never meant to insult of disrespect the deceased.

It was a bit immature, but i think he uses his "non caring" attitude just to be able to deal with such a situation like he said "love? My family" and "death? no meaning anymore" ...
What i did find strange and suprised me was that they were not verry cautious, for example when he sticks his hand in the bathtub... what if there was a needle, knife, other sharp object in there?
Wasn't kind of ashley to always focus on the fact that the man "sepperated" his feelings from the job...
