If it's sung acappella, it should maintain a monophonic texture symbolizing the military's ability to have individuals function as one cohesive unit. If he wanted homophonic harmonies, he should've gotten a band to accompany the choir.

Up until a few decades ago, the Aztec king's name was transliterated as Montezuma, and anything with his name was spelled that way. However, further study by language "boffins" revealed that his name was more properly spelled, and pronounced, Moctezuma. However, just as we say Peking instead of Beijing, there's no need to change it now.
