  • I first hear this hymn at the 1987 FA Cup Final at Wembley and was taken by it's powerful words it touched my heart and made me feel proud .It was being sung by most of the 100,000 football supporters which made Wembley feel so alive and so for evermore has become one of my favourite songs. It is the FA Cup song and is alway sung before the game kicks off.

  • Cuál es la version castellana y su título en español????

  • Excellent! Thanks for uploading it.

  • I'm not religious, at all... but this is a beautiful song

  • In the First World War my grandfather's battalion (9th Durham Light Infantry) sang this at evening stand to. They sang it partly to let the Germans know who they were facing across no mans land. They put wooden crosses at the point of their furthest advance in an attack. One can be seen in Durham Cathedral in the DLI Chapel; Complete with bullet and shrapnel scars. They took this very seriously, it was the Regimental hymn. The words couldn’t be more appropriate given their circumstances.

  • @RattytheSecond

God Bless your grandfather, so beautiful, so tragic, so sad

  • I left a comment on this Hymn 10 months ago, when my dear Nan passed away. Early this morning I lost my Mum and best friend. I am grateful that I was there with her when she passed and want to say, "Mum I love you", and you are now in a better place, out of pain and free, thank you for being my Mum and rest in peace. The words of this Hymn mean so very much. Love you Mum.xxx

  • @chunkie100 God bless your Nan and your Mom.

  • My mother's favorite hymn is "He Hideth My Soul."

  • Another good one is "Precious Lord Take My Hand."

  • @dyad2r1 I like that song, but another great one is ''Softly and Tenderly''.......

  • @borecleaner1

Absolutely. When the the choir began to sing "Softly and Tenderly" I marched down the aisle and give my life to the Lord. It wasn't the visiting evangelist who baptized me, it was my father, the pastor of our church.

  • @dyad2r1 Many people within the church have a different vie won the person and works of the Holy Spirit. Each and every one is entitled to theoir own viewpoint.I view the Holy Spirit as the ''paracletus'',or comforter referred to in Matthew. When the Holy Spirit is at work,so to speak,he points us to Christ, convicts[ NOT condemns]of sin and is a gentle, sane and loving promise or seal of our redemption. Many times while hearing ''softly and tenderly'',I have been moved to tears.Beautiful Song.....

  • @dyad2r1 That is awesome.God granted me the high privilege and honor of leading both my son and my daughter to Christ. Many years have passed since then, but I know that Christ will never let them go..........

  • @borecleaner1

Thanks for your good words. May God bless you and your children always.

  • Since my husband was recently diagnosed with terminal bladder cancer, this song has taken on special meaning for us.

  • @dyad2r1 I have often thought that when my time comes, both of those hymns would be very special. Thank you for sharing during this difficult time.

  • @w3tno

We had "Precious Lord Take My Hand" sung at my dad's memorial service. "Abide with Me" should have been sung, too, had we thought of it at the time. We already know Mom's favorite hymn: "He Hideth My Soul in the Cleft of the Rock." She's 92, doing well, but we know we'll lose her one of these days. Thanks for your note. May God bless you.

  • Wonderful version of a fabulous hymn. Only complaint is that the female soloist can barely be heard.......

  • @elavaney The female soloist is actually a boy, and his name is Bruce Blyth. His voice sounds weak because he is singing alone in a very large hall.

  • That was so beautiful. Thanks for posting.

  • irish im so so sorry i feel your loss may the Lord guide her home and give peace to her loved ones John :3:16

  • very sad!

  • I would love to listen to this again, but it's just so sad, yet amazingly beautiful.

  • @raekwonshere I'm sorry for the loss of your mother. I lost my sister today at age 57 leaving two heartbroken college age children. Also, so very fast.... life is so very unfair... This hymn helps though..

  • this song was sung at my grandfathers funeral in 05, RIP grandad

  • Of all the versions of this song that I have heard so far this is my favorite. Thanks for the upload!

  • At the end you say blessed be the name of our lord.....makes you feel real good!

  • Could you by any chance email me the mp3 for this song?

  • Love this Hymn, Please God be with my Nan who passed away 2 days ago. Thank you Nan for everything, rest in peace, love you xx
