  • this is a very long winded way, probably the absolute correct way of doing it, but if you want a quick way, check my vid....

  • DID YOU KNOW THAT IF YOU EAT PIGEON OVER A PERIOD OF TIME YOU CAN END UP GROWING A BEAK AND LITTLE EYES AND HOP AROUND CITY CENTRES WITH A CLUB FOOT PECKIN BITS OF GREGGS PASTIES UNTIL A BUS WHEEL TURNS YOU INTO A FUCKIN MINCED MASS OF SHIT GUTS AND FEATHERS TO PUT SOMEONE OFF EATING KFC AT THE BUS STOP.

ITS TRUE I READ IT IN THE LOAD OF BOLLOCKS TIMES.

  • @THESKULL1979 yes its true but those are feral pigeons. these are woodpigeons

  • do u get a lot of meat of these?

  • @Bulby93 I killed one before, in fact just got another one (Air rifle, hit in head, no pain). I breasted it like this and it was plenty for a full meal for one person, very nice too :P

  • Nice, I'm all about eating what you kill (except really nasty stuff) and this looks like a nice meal.

  • I would never eat city pidgeons, but ive had country pidgeons and they're alot like any other wild bird. Very rich and somewhat game tasting. if the pidgeon has been feeding on corn or something like that you can taste the difference between that bird and a bird that has fed on nuts and grains. Truly amazing food.

  • i shoot tons of pigeons. like in the high 70 every day of the summer, but i would never eat one of those filth rats.

  • @TinneyTitan wood pigeon isnt the same as commen street pigeon

  • @1ukjunglednbraver yeah but still, even just looking at them makes me sick

  • wow i have not seen an autopsy like that '~'

  • man eating animal for thousands of years. This couldnt be change because we are homo sapien. if someone wish to become another type of creatures then be it

  • hey you guys

anatomically speaking, man is 100% herbivore lol

he may be smart enough to catch, kill and cook animals, but it seems he is not yet smart enough to know which classification of animal he falls into

    LOL!

nice one you donks, enjoy your cancer lol

  • @lukkbox no we have canine teeth which are used for eating meet you faggot and what happen millions of years ago when we did'nt grow crops where did you get your food from in the winter and what happened in the ice age we eat meat grow up and get used to it.

  • @carnigourousplotting the majority of herbivores have canines, for defense

those animals who use canines for eating meat have canines that are curved and sharp, yours are not

we ate fruit, roots, seeds nuts and grasses before we farmed

your behaviour does not indicate your type, it is a question of anatomy

and anatomically, you are 100% herbivore

your just a confused herbivore that houses parasites that control your behaviour to eat meat, for them, not for you

    your an idiot :D

  • @lukkbox I am no idiot, humans have eaten meat for ever, explain why we are at the top of the food chain, from eating cabages, I think not. Before we farmed we where HUNTER gatherers hunting is an act of killing food processing it and eating it we also have eyes on the front of your face, most predators have eyes on the front of their face beacause this is how we and they have evolved. And behaivor does indicate type e.g if your behaivior is violent you are a violent person.

  • @carnigourousplotting you need to do your homework

behaviour is not used for classification of your type, if it were, then by your reasoning a lion that begins to eat grass becomes a herbivore? no!

and a herbivore that begins to eat meat does not become an omnivore or a carnivore

there are 20 anatomical features that divide herbivores, omnivores and carnivores

man shares all 20 with the herbivores, and NONE with either omnivores or carnivores, NONE

    cont ...

  • @carnigourousplotting

here you can compare mans anatomy to the distinguishing features of herbivore omnivores and carnivores for yourself, simply type into google

    'john coleman comparative anatomy'

    enjoy your reading :O)

  • @lukkbox Actually a lot of features presented by this coleman guy are wrong so I wouldn't take it too seriously.

It actually looks like another guy who for some reason doesn't want people eating meat and tries to give the pseudo scientific explanation that we are herbivores by definition, so we should stick to eating plants.

Well FUCK THAT, I love meat.

  • @carnigourousplotting actually wer top of the food chain because of our intelligence, if it all came down to our physical ability to hunt, we would be pretty low, we are very weak and slow and awkward compared to most wild animals

  • Nice

  • Thanks for the video, my first few were a bit messy. But i'll get there!

  • Thanks for the video, my first few were a bit messy. But i'll get there!

  • That meat looks delicious!

  • what should i do with the body afterwards?

  • If you roast a whole bird you will struggle to get any meat off the legs and back. Therefore thats why its better to just crown/de breast the bird. You could boil the plucked body to make a stock or use to feed your dog.

Some people use them as fox bait if you shoot them.

  • i use a 177 rifle too kill these no shotguns no skill

  • At last I found the solution for my pigeon problem at the balcony. Revenge will be sweet.

  • @mJohnsson85:

    Cute, asshole.

  • hey i dont think i'd bother for that little piece lol

if i was to shoot them i'd probably get a few bring them up to the butcher

    couldn't be arsed lolz! =)

  • Plenty of restaraunts in the U.S. serve country or farm raised pigeon, not feral. They simply list it as 'squab' on the menu and all of a sudden people think it's gourmet. I think pigeon is delicious and don't care if it's sold as squab or pigeon, I'm still eating it.

  • pretty cool, I didn't know you could eat pigeon. I did'nt think they had that much meat on them either.

  • aye, they are absolutely gorgeous...this is a woodpigeon though..you cannot eat feral pigeon

  • I would dip the game birds into hot water for smoother feather plucking...

  • my dad burns the feathers of the pheasants he catches

  • you eat you bird kills i eat only deer and turkey i leave my squriells and birds laying deaad

  • i only hunt if i was going to eat it

  • @1234JAMMYJOE1234 thats what hunting is eating what you have killed

  • looks like a gross purple ballsack. but who knows it might taste good

  • How do you guys know? Have you ever tried pigeon?

  • disguesting snobs

  • @wowii1234 Do you eat meat if so then this is no different we just provide our own honest food.

  • Oops, my mistake! I must have been thinking about someone else. (Breast meat on toast? Have to try that.)

  • Christ he makes that look difficult!

Pluck the feathers off, small incision at the base of the breast, push the skin off with your thumbs all the way back to the crop.

THEN slice out the breast either side.

  • I think he wanted to keep the skin. When he cooks his breast meat from the pigeon, he emphasizes throwing it in the pan skin-size down. Some people just like skin, is all.

  • its really not that difficult im a butcher of ten years and thats the way i do it. but every one has their own style.

  • sick snobs

  • I couldn't see what was on the inside of the bird very well. That part needed more clarity. Also, heart, liver and gizzard of pigeon are edible so he could have pointed out those bits as well.

  • Sick!!

And how looks that with your body???

  • I take it you don't eat meat, or your a huge pussy that needs everyone else to do the dirty work for them.

  • why are you looking up videos just to say that and by the sounds of it u dont eat meat do u??

  • Do i detect a welsh accent?

  • it's look so delicious

  • Great instruction! Thank you for posting.

  • pigeon is nice me and my mums boyfriend cooked one today and it was delicus

  • For those that don't know, many people in the USA, Europe and around the world eat pigeons. Pigeons is served in many restuarants, but these pigeons are breed as livestock on clean pigeon farms, just like chickens. So it is NOT the city pigeon. City pigeons are feral and unhealthy, but farm breed pigeons from pigeon farms are clean and healthy.

  • In England they aren't farmed to a great extent. Though many shoot pigeons for consumption they are called wood pigeon and are different from the feral pigeons in cities

  • Who would eat a pigeon? Its like the vermin of the skies.

  • rats on wings

  • are pigeons from suburbans safe to eat?

    and rabbits?

  • I'm not an expert and neither a hunter! But i can tell yo, that it depends on wath they eat! Wild piegons are mostly safe to eat! But better ask someone who understands it better than i do !

    greets

  • lol, k thnx

  • perfectly safe

  • on toast?! ON TOAST!!!??? u coon

  • Why not just split it off the body. Its too easy. Pluck the head and tear the breast away. This just seems like some snooty British bullshit.

  • there is such and easyer way of doing that so much qwicker

  • i did exactly that!!

  • very intresting video cheers, how do u know if the bird is worth eating, as dont fancy eating a bird with a disease many thanks

  • Look up a wood pigeon then look up a feral pigeon and you will see

  • The PETArds and their new group in PA, "shark" are trying to outlaw pigeon shooting in USA. I think pigeons are worthless eaters, but if you can make meat of them, go ahead! Salute you!

  • Got 32 pigeons in me garage, gonna have to breast them at some point this week. Good video thanks!

  • Top quality video, Thanks

  • holy shit..

wtf? is he gonna eat that?

  • Course he is,i recomend you try it if you can, totally healthy low in fat and cholestrol.

  • man.. i dont know. i don't trust the pigeons here. they eat some pretty nast things. plus, it's not like i could go pick one up at my local grocery store... well i could i just don't know how people would react if they saw me killing a bird in the parking lot and throwing it in my car.

  • what you see in the street is not a wood pigeon though!!! these are wild birds that live in the countryside and eat crops and wild nuts or berries. they are very healthy and will not carry diseases or eat horible things like its feral cousins do!!

  • Techinically, the woof pigeons are feral, not the street ones. :)

  • these are not these dirty city piegons!

U won't ever eat chicen or turkey again after trying this!

  • wat about pigeons in suburban areas? are those safe to eat?

  • it's not scientifically proven that they're bad, but i wouldn't take the chance with those dirty things

  • ive shot everal of these with my pellet gun and literally took of their headswith it, its pretty accurate, but i never knew how to clean the bird so i always gave them to my neighbors dog lol

  • this guys a dumbass. your suppose to gut a bird like 20 minutes after its shot or it gets all hard. that meat is porlly no good.

  • Its a pigeon, not a deer? Whos the dumbass?? You can hang game birds whole for several days before needing draw.

  • @jaminzx7r He didn't say it was off a deer .He said it was awful dear.

  • Can the people who don't like hunting or even eating any kind of meat just not watch this video? Get over it, people hunt things for food, thats the way human life works. It goes back to the caves, fuck of you bunch of moaning vegetarians. Merry Christmas korn fuckers.

  • What about the ones that get stuck in my radiator grill?

  • id rather see my food die from a gun than from a conveyor belt death machine. MAKE A VIDEO ON DUCK!

  • and the shooting community cares how much about your comment exactly?

  • I didn't comment to make you people care, I commented to speak my mind,

you read it and i don't care if you care or not.

I've better things to do than see if people care.

  • well we don't exactly want your misguided opinions here thanks very much.

  • Excellent video! Pigeon is so tasty. I think there is also a method where you don't have to pluck the breast, but simply peel the skin and feathers back!

  • Cool video, thats just so much simpler than I thought it would be. I'll definitely have to try that.

  • i dont think the pigeon will be rock and rolling.but nice all the same.

  • im the same as originallos!ive been shooting for years but never eaten them,im looking forward to my first pigeon breast!just hope it all goes ok!

  • haha, this is really usefull! ive been shooting for years now with my air rifle (my newest is: gamo viper express wich is perfect for pigeons) and i really want prepare em.. so im going to shoot two of em now... tonight i eat pigeon

  • why the hell would u watch how to prepare a pigeon if your again hunting. you my friend are a complete idiot and your comment is completely pointless

  • Exactly what I was thinking!

  • I came across your video by mistake. My comment was pointless, but, I wrote it because I was pissed off about the subject. DONT CURSE DUDE!!!

  • @samdedross1 get a life why watch a hunting based vid then complain about it. they need to be shot and they taste good so why not make a vid about how to prepair them.

  • @samdedross1 get a life why watch a hunting based vid then complain about it. they need to be shot and they taste good so why not make a vid about how to prepair them.

  • very informative vid thankyou, next time a spot a pigeon i will make sure it end up in my pan =)

  • thank you very much! great video!

  • very informative,thanks

  • great video, all the other youtube ones are so blurry and don't give you any instructions

  • im new to shooting and regularly shoot pigeon and i want to know how do you know that the pigeon has no desease or if it is the right type of bird that you can eat

  • I thought the meat was pretty tough, but other then that, not too shabby.

I think maybe I'll go snatch some squabs out of the nests around here, om nom nom nom.

  • Some people eat crows the same way.

  • crows?men, thats disgusting!a crow eats EVERYTHING she finds.

  • I hate pidgeons. Just shoot them and let them get ran over.

  • thankyou so much can you put on some things about rabbit please

  • can you put the breasts on the BBQ or something?

  • I shot two today, thanks for the info on the

    filleting and cooking ideas,

  • hey but how do you know the bird has no parasites or anything , ?

  • How do you know your chickens havent

  • pidgeons likely eat fertilizer off lawns with seeds.

  • If it was a sick bird, you would see that not only in the bird's overall condition and in its flesh, but also from wasted innards. A sick bird would be very easy to spot....Besides....sick birds don't fly at 35-40mph in hard wind!! The proof is wild game survives....no intensly reared meat here!!

  • well, wehre do you know that the wild pigeon wasn´t sick?i mean is this safe food for the human body?

  • ur jus bein stupid, it wud luk diformed or sumthing if it was sik and if u want to be over causious then be my guest but i lyk eatin meat.

  • You would know if the bird was sick, and even then that's what an immune system is for.

  • Suppose I should start eating the little fucks when I pop them in my yard.

  • Hi i have been watching your videos and was wondering if your going to add any more? say duck or goose? I have watched the pheasant one and was wondering if you could go into a bit more detail about how to cook the bird once skinned. I think these r vital skills which are lost these days!

  • haha i just crowned a pigeon and simply fried the breasts. tasted out of this world. in my opinion it tasted better than fillet steak. better shoot me some more tomorrow.

  • Good Vid! Easy to follow instructions.
