I was introduced to classical music and to Mendelssohn at age of 10. Always loved this concerto, almost always cry of happiness when hear it. Janine interpretation is quite fidel (I believe from many others I heard before) to the original. And superb.
another unsual fact, a video of classical music with info about the piece displayed every 50 secs jajaja......nah just kidding, thanks for the upload, excelent concerto
this is why i prefer bach and the baroque concertos, they are made to show beauty , modern ones just show virtuosity, six minutes of the largo (bwv 1043 second mov) is much better than 30 mins of scales, arpeggios and crazy techniques
This is very passionate playing. This is the best I have seen and heard this Concerto performed by anyone in 40 years. Exceptionally moving performance.
@Makashi11 I am a huge fan of all classical music and musicians (including the two you mention). However, calling someone who is invited by orchestras the world over to perform with them "mediocre" is a bold statement. JJ is definitely one of the top ten and probably #1 when it come to expressing passion for music and the instrument. I think she is THE best, but that is my own humble (yet entitled) opinion. I do acknowledge yours.....just don't agree with the mediocre part.
There are two really oustandingly wonderful Violin Concertos this and the Bruch...they reach parts than no other can (Sorry I'm Gushing) but this is so beautiful
The emotion and intensity of this work can be seen in Janine's experience. Her expressions and exertion are perfect embodiment of Mendelssohn's genius. watching Janine perfectly matches the feeling this music delivers. Try it! Close your eyes, listen, and occasionally open your eyes and look at her. It matches . It's uncanny....
@drumstx2010 Actually, one can go to imslp dot com and download the full score in PDF format for free. Use the "Search by composer" option to get to the Mendelssohm page. Once there, search by title, which is "Violin Concerto" or "Concerto for Violin" in this case.
@0diablillo You can get the sheet music for this piece (all three movements) at IMSLP. Every musician should know about IMSLP because it's a public domain and has HEAPS of stuff.
@0diablillo You can even find it on wikipedia! Go to Violin Concerto, Op. 64 (Mendelssohn) page (in English) and click on the first external link (down the page): Free Scores at the International Music Score Library Project. Amazing piece!
@0diablillo you can find this at: imslp 'dot' org, you click at 'petrucci music library', choose your language and search by composer, there is a lot of music by any composer in public domain.
@0diablillo You can get the sheet music at imslp.org because that site has virtually every single classical piece you'll be able to probably think of. But I think that classics such as these are not meant to be treated as normal sheet music to just print out and play because it really won't have the same effect. For example, you can get Vivaldi's four seasons anywhere really on the internet but a lot of it won't be theoretically accurate. It's always good to get the original copy when you can.

@redbrian3655 If you think she's a good violinist hear someone like Fischer or Kennedy...compared to them this one is mediocre.

@0diablillo
If you don't mind a free/badly edited part (obviously replace *dot com* with actual dot com, youtube doesn't allow posting links):
tinyurl *dot com* /3vo32v5
but I would suggest buying the actual part:
