  • Eliza's life was her brother and teaching. Being married would have gotten in the way of that. In those days. When woman got married, her life's ambitions and dreams would have been put on the back burner or thrown away, for being a wife and mother.

  • man she is bossssy

  • @futureindirector21 I don't think she meant to be. She was the oldest girl, and helped raise Almanzo. It's just a habit.

  • wouldn't there be some man in Wnut Grove that would court Eliza Jane? they needed more church socials?

  • @candlelight482 - Eliza Jane is around 33 in this episode. She was 7 years older than her brother. In real life, she didn't marry until the age of 42. She also had a son shortly after. After her first husband died, she married for a second time. So, it does take longer for some to find the right person but it doesn't mean something great might be just around the corner!

  • I feel bad for eliza jane because in the television series they make her sound so inoscent and helpless when in real life she is the total oppisite

  • Yes she did get married to an older man and she did have one boy his name was wilder but he died soon after and left them with a huge house and she was very much into womans rights

  • did eliza jane ever get married?

  • where can i find me an almanzo?

  • I love Little House On The Prairie. Thank you for uploading them.

  • I feel so bad 4 eliza never having beau (as they called it then) at her age but i know how she feels. I don't know how old eliza is suppose to b here but I've never had a real boyfriend eithr and i'm around her age.

  • @candlelight482 I too felt bad for Eliza. I really thought Harv. Miller would have made her very happy. It was unfortunate that he already had his eyes set on another woman....

P.S "One day your prince will come", my grandmother always told me... "You just have to be patient and eventually you will meet the right person for you..." Thanks for sharing and I truly hope the right person for you. Everybody deserves to love and beloved in return... : D

  • @Emotional2000 Thanks Emotional2000 It's hard waiting when everyone around you has someone but guess i got no choice. Thanks again!!! and thanks 4 LHOP!

  • @candlelight482 I totally understand... I think we have all been in your shoes at some point in our lives. Where we wanted to be with someone when everyone around is with someone situation. I know I have ,as a young person! Just know that you are not alone and others have had the same or similar experience as you... By the way, you're welcome candlelight... : D

  • @Emotional2000

I don't think your prince will come u have to get out there and find your soul mate he is not going to come riding in on a white horse with a ring in his hand.

  • @candlelight482 I'm sorry you feel badly. I haven't had a "real" boyfriend in 20 years, but it's not so hard. Especially when all my girlfriends in relationships constantly complain and I see their boyfriends come and go. Occasionally, I even hear "you're so lucky to be single!" These days, it's so much harder to find the right companion and it's easier for some to be alone. Bless.

  • @runly1 Thanks 4 your kind words, i to get that "your so lucky 2 b single " thing 2 but there IS 2 sides to that.

  • @candlelight482 I am 22 and in the same situation...Sometimes I feel like it must be my fault, and sometimes it almost feel like some find of curse fell on me. The hardest thing is not truly knowing why things just don't happen naturally, why is there this weird lack of motion...Do you know why you're in the same position ? Are you avoiding people ?

  • @candlelight482 I feel bad for her too.In the role she's so delicate,so sensitive and ready to listen to Harvey. But he's a douchebag! He's stupid!!She was 30 maybe or around 30 i guess. But it isn't so easy to have a boyfriend and someone who really loves you even today.I dated boys but only had 2 regular boyfriends.

  • @fisteberg Today, it does appear to be somewhat of a challenge to meet the right person... But, I still believe in love and that there is a person out there for everyone. What can I say, I am an optimistic, hopelessly romantic person... lol ; D

  • I can never figure out whether Almonzo sleeps in the bedroom upstairs or the one downstairs because he's gone into both of them before saying "good night."

  • @arleiabellewen Oh, wow. I just realized that. Maybe he used both? So he never gets bored going to bed.

  • @arleiabellewen i think his room is upstairs because eliza jane says "finish your tea and get up to bed" notice how she says "up".

  • Eliza Jane and Harve's children would be all nose and jaw!

  • P.S. Omg, I totally feel like kindred spirits with Eliza. Though I'm 22, I know that's how I'm gonna be when I'm her age. XDD

  • Eliza deserves to be loved, too. Who cares that she's not the worlds' most beautiful woman, or that she has kind of a quirky personality. No person is perfect.

I like how this episode depicts, for once, the woman falling for the man, instead of vice versa. No one ever thinks about when the woman is the one who's vying for affection (besides Laura liking Almanzo, of course, but he ended up liking her, too.)

    X)

  • @Ainurah

That is true, plus I don't understand why people say bad things about her such as her being ugly or her voice being annoying. I've heard voices more annoying than her's and would her outer looks matter so much just so men could like her? Sometimes when it comes to watching these kind of programs, it makes me feel like no one cares about the inside, only the outside. Not trying to be overdramatic here, just expressing an opinion. But I agree Eliza Jane deserves a good man.

  • @Disneyfan82 Actually, I pretty much agree with that, too. But it's still a great show. =)

  • @Ainurah

    It sure is. =)

  • @Disneyfan82 Men can be shallow the outside is the only thing that seems 2 matter to men. It's a shame cause if u judge a person just 4 what u c on the outsid u could be missing alot of the good stuff about a person. If a sound of a voice matters 2 men i just can't say much 4 there maturity.

  • Poor elisa so shy!it is so sad for her.Her first love but not shared love. The actress is just perfect, perfectly shy and back in the late 1800's women used to be shy i guess and not very talkative. And perfectly dressed the fashion of this era,and had the manners too.

  • how do you get a guy to notice you? stick your tits or ass in his face Eliza!

  • Eliza Jane and Harve would have made a good couple, lol

  • @pamela31301 No i don't think so.No i'm watching again this episode i think Eliza deserved a man a thousand times better than Harvey.THis harvey is too stupid for her bright mind.

  • Aww, is this the one where she found out that he left and got married. That was sooo sad.

  • no other beaus. How sad.

  • James Cromwell <3333

  • i would crack up if people start calling me

    Miss.Hellsen!

    hahahaha XD

  • Bow?? what the heck is a bow - 6:44?

  • "Beau" not "bow". It means boyfriend

  • Indeed. Real life Eliza was nelly's friend and she hated Laura. And Laura hated teaching, she only did it so she can pay for the blindschool for mary. Mary didn't maried you know in the books (so also not in real life) And Mary was the one who wanted to be teacher while Laura never ever wanted it! XD

  • nellie is also made up she was a combination of several girls laura knew

  • nellie was not made up! read on the banks of plum creek!

  • look up nellie olsen and it will tell you and yes there was a nellie owens but no nellie olsen

  • No, it was nellie oleson, as in the books. Spelled O-L-E-S-O-N. That may be why you can't find it.

  • Nellie Oleson was actually three people in real life. Laura changed it into one character in the books to make it easier on the reader. One of the real life girls was named Nellie Owens that Laura changed into Oleson.

  • thanx cozzensclan u r the best detailer!

  • no she isnt because then she wouldnt be telling adam and mary all the detail about their new school (its in he loves me loves me not)

  • I remember how Laura first try to hook Almanzo. she pretended to run back home so he could offer her a ride. lol little damsel in distress. it was sneaky.

  • No she is not blind. Her blind school joined with Mary and Adam's blind school in the episode called "Blind Journey" which is an awesome episode. You can watch the whole 2 part episode on this channel. enjoy

  • eliza Jane is like the 40 year old virgin.

  • LMFAO

  • ROFL

That was mean and funny all at the same time

  • luv it

  • Harve Miller. the guy driving around the Wilder teacher, is the old farmer in Babe! I'm sure of it. Faces may change but voices tend to stay the same.

  • Eliza reminds me of a big plaid bird!

  • eliza jane reminds me of a mother hen

  • ELiza Jane is sweet she is a verry kind little lady

  • she's actually not... you'll realise this later on

  • The real life Eliza Jane was bossy and mean. If you read the books, she is very nasty and hateful to Laura. Funny that she was made out to be some sweet thing on the show.

  • huh. all this time i thought she was great. maybe i SHOULD have read the books

  • REALLY? what book is it in? i have the series but which book?

  • Little Town on the Prairie is where Eliza Jane is Laura and Carrie's teacher and is really mean to them. Other references made to Eliza are in Farmer Boy (she was always bossy) and again in The First Four Years when Almanzo and Laura want to get married and Eliza & Almanzo's mother want to take charge of the wedding. But they end up avoiding the large wedding wanted by his family.

  • ahh oops i went to click on the thumbs up and it got bumped to the thumbs down. i completely agree with your comment.

  • Boy this really shows the time period. No one in this generation uses the word "beau" in place of boyfriend. And back in that generation, it was unheard of a lady asking a man over for dinner.

  • wats after this?

  • other then the one where mary becomes blind dos She star in any other episodes when shes blind?

  • Yes... "To See the Light", "May We Make Them Proud", I'll be waving As You Drive Away" to name a few... These you can watch on my channel...

  • Didn't Laura call her Eliza Jane now that Laura is a student-teacher?

  • Poor Eliza Jane. She's such a sweet little thing.

  • Laura's advice to Eliza Jane was so cute.

And I love how the little fancy hats sometimes were smaller than their heads. LoL. :)

  • Eliza Jane is such a beautiful name!

  • Huh...? Wow, this generation really thinks differently. Almanzo's answer illustrates how much respect people had back then, not how little backbone they had. It's beautiful to see, and it's too bad there isn't more of it now. Incidentally, I am from the younger generation. My heart is just in the prairie days I guess. ;o

  • I get the respect part but I wouldn't have said that to my older brother especially if he is a grown man. I think Almanzo reponded nicely but calling your sister ma'am is too formal. I would have just said "Yes, Eliza Jane."

  • Isn't Almonzo much younger?

Also, now that I think about it, I see him calling her "ma'm" was a combination of 3 things: respect, the era, and also Eliza being sort of a maternal or a mother hen presence in Manly's life in general. This episode particulary highlights how she's starting to question the role she's carved out for herself in life, and how she wants to step out of that matronly shadow.

  • I thought Almonzo's sister's name was Hester Sue?

  • Hester Sue is the woman who ran and helped out with the blind school.

  • what episode is it where Laura and Almonzo decide to get married?

  • He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not part 1. You can view it on my channel. In this epi, Almanzo proposes to Laura... Also in the epi, "Laura Ingalls Wilder" Almanzo and Laura get married.

  • Thanks!

  • You're welcome! : )

  • Harv is SUCH a LOSER. I wouldn't be with him even if he was the last guy alive on earth...

  • Almonzo is HAWT!

  • ''I've never danced with anyone...

    Except your brother, Albert...''

Wow that sounded weird, I was like: OMG those 2 together? but then I figured I couldn't be right, seeing as elisa jane is albert's teacher

    how foolish of me, lol

    x

  • the guy that plays almonzo..isnt he the one who plays luke skywalker on star wars?

  • No, the man who plays luke is mark hamill

almanzo is played by dean butler

    the kinda look alike though

    x

  • @Bluemercury7 No, Luke Skywalker is played by Mark Hamill :)

  • Thank you so much Emotional2000! Uploading these for us to watch is so sweet of you when you could keep them all to yourself!

  • Isn't the guy who plays Harve the farmer in 'Babe'?

  • 'Babe' is the movie with the pig right? I think he is ...

  • Yeah thats who he is! lol I was trying to figure that out!

  • Almanzo says she's acting funny that night... but she's always acting weird!

  • lol

  • I agree!

  • she's so prim and proper...

  • I agree. Lucy Lee Flippin says that she's nowhere near like that in real life. She's a very nice and easy going person; that she's not like the character she portrays!

  • ill see ya later harv

  • her nose is pointy!!! =P

  • Ill see ya later Eliza Jane.

    haa =]

i dont like Eliza Jane. =/

  • her Laugh gets to me
