slayers music has stayed the same for more then 20 years,i dont see why afi's couldnt.however that said i do like all the albums,its just that decemberunderground seemed to be a half assed effort to gain popularity.listen to black sails,the art of drowning,and sing the sorrow and how much work they put into those albums both lyricallywise and musically wise,and then look at du.hopefully the next album will be more of what afi are about instead of what mainstream pozer fans want.

I think you're slightly missing the complexity of AFI's newer music. I mean, yes, appearance is important, it helps promote an image on which the can sell the band. However, their music has become increasingly complex. Their abilities lyrically, musically and vocally have expanded allowing them to create "better" music.

But if you're looking for a really good band, I suggest Protest The Hero.

I agree completely. I'm glad you don't think they're all a bunch of "fags" for playing "faggy emo," but you still appreciate the old stuff better. Sometimes I feel so torn between the two as if they're different bands because of all the fighting that goes on. Black Sails in the Sunset was their best record, but Decemberunderground is still pretty good (Kill Caustic is still hardcore, too). Of course, I listen to all types of music, so I can see how other people are disparate.
