I was spending most of my life, awake, at SoCal dragstrips beginning in March of 1963 and running thru my draft notice (Vietnam) in early 1969 so I saw my share of wheelie cars & trucks. Most, perhaps all, of them had huge holes cut in the floorboard, just to the driver's right, so these guys could actually see where they were going when the front end was facing the clouds.
This was sold at Kruse Auction in 2007 and went to Volo. It is NOT THE little red wagon, it had a stock little V-8 between the seats and the Hemi in the bed was a phony fiberglass block with all the stuff bolted onto it. I looked close in Auburn when I first saw it. It's stock exhaust was welded into the Zoomies. Nice Try.
bought a 1968 Dodge A100 (5 window) for $450. when i got out of the army. one cool weird looking truck! it was pretty stock & cherry, with the slant 6 auto dashboard space blaster!
@drhotrodmd Well its not only painted to look like it, Don builds these to exact specifications, as the guys had them back then. So its not just a truck painted like the original, its a clone of the original.
gmtgmt123's comment makes NO sense. There was 4 versions of Bill Mavrick's LRW over the years. This is not a Bill Maverick truck. This truck has a fake engine in the rear. Good looking but it's really only about as cool as an Elvis impersonater. The last LRW was for sale a while back but the price was QUITE high... I never heard if it sold or not..
i got to see the original, wheelie down the track, way back when, makes me feel old. does anyone know when did the original went to the drag strip in the sky?
Well to answer drhotrodmd, the ORIGINAL got rolled up in a little ball a l o n g time ago. The one in Don Garlets museum is a later build. Somewhere there is film of four wheelstanders with the front ends in the air at the Car Craft offices parking lot in the mid 60's. Wish someone could find that and post it.
way to foul the plugs fool, how about revving it up a bit so we can at least hear the Hemi since no smoke show is forthcoming. nice replica anyway. wanted to hear it though.
Check out the 1965 debut of the LRW, type in "Little red wagon DEBUT 1965 piedmont "

I agree thats why i removed that comment. The real truck is a very cool piece but this is just a truck painted to look like it.

Jerk Off, That noise is the engine in the cab of the truck where the engine normally sits..
Being a wise ass only made YOU look stupid!!! Sometimes ,it's just best to keep your mouth shut!

Just think-Without the good old USA,none of the beautiful iron in that garage would even exist.
