  • funny how one person goes to haiti and says; Haiti is safe...ask the hundreds of whites that were kidnapped, robbed and beaten up, what they think. One 70 yr. old white missionary had his left arm cut off by bandits and was kidnapped the year before.....I live in haiti and haiti has security till 5pm, when the UN returns to the hotels to get drunk, smoke up and rape the local girls...no ! Haiti is not safe...

  • Port-au-prince is safe.. I am white and have now been there twice, i have walked the streets, gone to the beaches, and interviewed the locals with my video camera...never any problems

  • You were obviously lucky and have a poor understanding of safety.

  • it's safe for locals but for a white dude all by yourself i don't quite recomend it for your own safety

  • it would be such a lovely place to visit for an summer vacation, like a week or two. weather seems to be nice, just like the folks...

I wonder what I would take with me for a souvenir...hmm...

    thanks, bye

  • I went there when I was the army (this is stacy's bf) back in 99, on a humanatarian mission.

We set up a hospital in an abandon school yard to help the Haitians medically. There were hundreds of them that day, it felt great to aid them.

  • i was in the dominican, i wanted to cross over the border to go to port au prince

  • My husband knows a lady who has a heart for the haitian people and she use to organize trips. Her name is Stella a school teacher in Mississauga ( i think). Feel free to email me and i can get more info.

  • I want to go to Haiti to help. Any tips? Do you know anyone I can call over there to talk to? I hear the food crisis is horrible - people are living on mud-cakes. Thank you!

  • I dont know if its to late or if you are still interested but I did a short term missions trip to haut limbe just nort of Cape Hatian and I am sure there is more to do there PM me if you want some more info, GREAT experience,

  • notladjr is right. this is a nice part of town(reletively) compared to Cite-Soleil, Cite Leternel or FontaMara 27 etc. I still wouldn't cruise the streets at night there unless I absolutely had to

  • i lived there for 3 1/2 months, this was not a slum you were driving thru bro. The port is a slum, cite soleil is slum. This looked like one of the nicer neighborhoods. Occross the street from the pastel apartment complex, past the big globe traffic circle, those are some slums.

  • Yeah Haiti is a hell whole of a place. Very sad.

  • nice video. I bet it's very dangerous over there!

  • You couldnt pay me 1,000,000 Euros to walk this neighborhood at NIGHT.

  • I've walked through neighbourhoods worse than this at night in Haiti and never had any problems.

  • you most likely have dark skin. Haiti is extremely dangerous for Caucasians.

  • nope, as white as snow, though I have many freckles and got a bit tanned on arms and face.

Being a Morman misssionary helped too! Everyone recognised the little black name tag.

  • very dangerous saougenla must be heafing a gaurdian angel i think if you are on the beach you must look al around bicous there are a lot poor kids and gangs that beat you up for monny im from haiti and whas born in port-au-prince, greets

  • than you must heafe a gaurdian angel or very lucky ;-)that night
