If minor details were changed, it could have been it's own movie & wouldn't have been so unfairly compared to the original because they're two completely different movies & two completely different styles. It's an extremely entertaining movie, & as I said before, the fight between Leatherface & Dennis Hopper at the climax of the film was entertaining as all hell. It's just unfair to call it TCM2.

Honestly, this is a movie that shouldn't have been made, or at least shouldn't have been called "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2". There shouldn't have been any sequels to that unforgetable classic that broke so many boundries in the horror genre and is widely considered by most to be oen of the most ground-breaking horror films of all time. However, the fight between Leatherface and Dennis Hopper with the chainsaws is badass! This movie, for some reason, reminds me of "The Devil's Rejects".

It's brilliant as a stand alone movie, but if you're expecting it to be anything like the original you're going to be disappointed. This film goes WAY over the top with nonstop gore, wild and wacky performances and an overall tone of campiness that is completely unlike the first film which was dark, grim, gritty and relentlessly nervewracking. Nevertheless, this is one of the most underrated horror satires that's ever been made and is just as much a work of art as the original, in my opinion.

I couldn't have put it better myself. I'm so glad there are other people out there who love this kickass movie as much as i do. Tobe Hooper was merely trying to take the series to the next level by upping the dark humor that was present in the first film and taking the violence and gore to utmost extreme. He knew he could never top the first one in terms of terror and suspense so he went in the other direction with it, making it a campy, witty,gory,over the top dark satire.
