through output of the gr-20 do you ever experiance a dirty signal cause I'm getting that with my setup right now and it might be my 9volts going bad but it's not a good sound. also have you checked out the graphtech ghost hepander system it's still 13 pin output and it uses a different bridge where the saddles are the pickups. stellar playing mid section was very dream theater / symphony x. peace from luther.
That was ace - creative use of a guitar synth. You're a talented guy. I have a GR-33 which I use with a Godin synth-ready guitar and a Fender Strat with an internal GK-2A fitted - I never got on with the external GK-2A pickup. The 3A is much smaller though. You should record some more tracks.
hello, it comes with two choices. you can glue with help of matching plastic strips it comes with several strips in different heights according to what you need,, or you can instal the system that needs drilling and works with springs this one one is more fine-tunable in height..wich is good becaue the distance between the strings and the pickup are crucial for the function of it..
I normally don't listen to what people are playing all the way through when I'm checking out gear, though this was awesome. Made me want to buy this pedal!
I want one of these so bad - definitely one of the better demonstration videos I've seen, really nice playing and composition and...just everything really! Thanks for making me want one even more haha. My dream scenario is hooking this up to the Thor in Reason 4.
Awesome composition showing the capabilities of the GR-20 Joop! Do you know of any video demos with this being used with an acoustic guitar? Will it MIDI into a computer for use with composition software?? I would love to cut some time down in writing all my music out in computer!! Thanks again!! 5* -Derek
thanx a lot derek, i love to compose..:) well i use the device as audio recording, iám kinda oldschool when it comes to recording and i love the realtime feeling then of it..:)..i never tried with a compose-program..but i guess it will work..and yes i mounted one pickup on my acoustic to..it even works beter..beter response
Great song! Really liked the transition after the synth lead solo. I also have a Roland GR-20...what interface do you use to record with it? I assume one with midi in and outs...
i just plug use audio out in the soundcard and recorded waves, i don't use the midi with this device..you have this send return function on the gr-20 and there i have my guitarsound looped in.. with the swith you can turn that on/off or blend with the syntsound..pretty handy device..
Very nice playing and nice composition but I don't get the Karoke guitar stuff-you should be playing with a full group and making the big bucks. . I am curious about the drums...live recording or loops? Nice job on the guitar.
well i have my trio for live-gig's only were not getting paid big bucks if we get paid at all.. everybody wants always everything for free..that seems to be very normal nowadays
the drums on this recording are made with the boss-880 and the sample-sounds of ezy-drummer, i never use preset drums..(like i now already do for the last 20 years..check myspace for a more clear idea on my works (albums, projects) that will awnser some of your questions
Why is it that every effects or synth guitar player thinks it sounds better to have four or five extra instruments pre-tracked as background "flavor". Apparently even the Roland site (VG-99) does that for some of the demos.....it sells to stupid ears. I for one think it should be mandated, however noble the musician showing the product's capabilities, be made to list exactly what other sounds were generated at other times!!
Man, you demonstrate this great! I have a question, have you used the gr-33? I am looking at getting a roland synth, but I don't know whether to buy a gr-33,or a gr-20, what do you think?
Have you ever tryed a gr-20 with a midi keyboard? It should work wouldnt it? i have gr-20 and was thinking about looking into midi keycontrollers for other stuff, but it would be a bonus if the gr-20 worked with a key as well.
it's just a matter of making the proper height of the pickup and the good velocity setting on the device.. play as clear as posible..than it will work..
I play guitar but wanted some additional sounds on my 4 track... so was going to buy a small bass guitar... and borrow a keyboard... now listening to this machine,,I think it may be what Im looking for...
Very cool stuff, the device and your playing, taht is. I'd like one of these but even though it is relatively cheap, I still can't really afford it right now.
hi hope this helps you guys ..., yes it is the roland gr-20 and if you install the pickup proparly, it is a little millimeter work and ajusting on the divice input level etc.....it also helps a lot to play all the notes as good as possible..;), but then on the guitar it follows up very nice, cool soundbanks too..
Nice work my friend! Just wondering about the efektpedal you using (roland gr 20?).. Is the tone come direct when you hit the string or is there a small delay of the tone? Thinking of bying one of those.. :P Happy for answer! kalle (sweden)
Exactly the demo vid i was looking for!...a REAL player with technique demonstrating what the GR20 can do!....very impressed, with both the Gr-20 and your performance!...u use a loop station also?
nylon strings? how did you use the gr 20 with nylon strings?

I have a question about this synthesizer. Is there any drilling necessary for the pickup that comes with it or does it mount without the drilling???

Ohh ok I see; so in your opinion the system which you drill onto the guitar is a better choice?

with the springs finetunnining it is beter..

just for the simple fact that my main goal hereis to make an arrangement and write tunes....iám not getting paid by roland
just to show that this device enables you to make quick demoes on your own...
that has nothing to do with stupid ears it has something to do with function for an affordable price for people to get creative
otherwise it's up to yourself to see what you can do with a device like this..
i guess that will awnser all your questions

How is the tracking?
Especially in the lower register.

The organ patch already has vibrato. When you add your own it creates a chaotic warbling sound which is not nice. Nice playing
