  • nylon strings? how did you use the gr 20 with nylon strings?

  • Great video, you show the possibilities of the GR-20 better than most other videos.

  • wicked composition man

  • amazing stuff there,

  • Sounds like a amazing bitta kit gonna check it out amazing sounds especially the piano parts ...

  • i really liked the first two selections. but the last one made me chuckle a bit. certain sounds i think are funny. and i guess that was one of them.

  • hi, man I was wondering using the guitar

through output of the gr-20 do you ever experiance a dirty signal cause I'm getting that with my setup right now and it might be my 9volts going bad but it's not a good sound. also have you checked out the graphtech ghost hepander system it's still 13 pin output and it uses a different bridge where the saddles are the pickups. stellar playing mid section was very dream theater / symphony x. peace from luther.

  • That was ace - creative use of a guitar synth. You're a talented guy. I have a GR-33 which I use with a Godin synth-ready guitar and a Fender Strat with an internal GK-2A fitted - I never got on with the external GK-2A pickup. The 3A is much smaller though. You should record some more tracks.

  • @fretwired thanx man, if you're intersted i released already 3 solo-albums and a fourth is on the way..cheers!!

  • You sound really good man ... I luv your style of playin...drums and bass are awesome also...play on brother

  • hello friend.. the roland gr20, has some latency?.. there are better guitar modules for to use the midi sounds? thx

  • sounds good, what guitar are you playing?

  • A bo-el guitar, it's a dutch brand

  • @joopwolters123 hi, with this synth can i program one instrument per each string of the guitar?

  • nice sounds

    very well played

  • I have a question about this synthesizer. Is there any drilling necessary for the pickup that comes with it or does it mount without the drilling???

  • hello, it comes with two choices. you can glue with help of matching plastic strips it comes with several strips in different heights according to what you need,, or you can instal the system that needs drilling and works with springs this one one is more fine-tunable in height..wich is good becaue the distance between the strings and the pickup are crucial for the function of it..

  • Ohh ok I see; so in your opinion the system which you drill onto the guitar is a better choice?

  • with the springs finetunnining it is beter..

  • Thanks, I appreciate your opinion.

  • thanx to you all very much for enjoying my music and the demo on the GR-20 i made here..

    realy appriciate this..:)

  • Dude, you never fail to scare me! 2:45 onwards is very Greg Howe.

    Love this composition Joop!

    Jack

  • oh my god , very good song ( like the french guitarist Patrick rondat ) the gr-20 kill all !!! you too !!

    nice work

  • I normally don't listen to what people are playing all the way through when I'm checking out gear, though this was awesome. Made me want to buy this pedal!

  • sick!.....

the piano sounds incredibly real. and some great and interesting sounds/tones you get out of this.

i'm definitely going to check out this pedal, thanks for sharing.

  • I want one of these so bad - definitely one of the better demonstration videos I've seen, really nice playing and composition and...just everything really! Thanks for making me want one even more haha. My dream scenario is hooking this up to the Thor in Reason 4.

  • *Edit: change that from nice playing to AWESOME playing haha. Sorry, was typing while listening then it suddenly exploded in my face. Badass!

  • Awesome composition showing the capabilities of the GR-20 Joop! Do you know of any video demos with this being used with an acoustic guitar? Will it MIDI into a computer for use with composition software?? I would love to cut some time down in writing all my music out in computer!! Thanks again!! 5* -Derek

  • thanx a lot derek, i love to compose..:) well i use the device as audio recording, iám kinda oldschool when it comes to recording and i love the realtime feeling then of it..:)..i never tried with a compose-program..but i guess it will work..and yes i mounted one pickup on my acoustic to..it even works beter..beter response

    cheers, joop

  • Thanks Joop!! I really appreciate the feedback! -Derek

  • Great song! Really liked the transition after the synth lead solo. I also have a Roland GR-20...what interface do you use to record with it? I assume one with midi in and outs...

  • hi there and thanx..

i just plug use audio out in the soundcard and recorded waves, i don't use the midi with this device..you have this send return function on the gr-20 and there i have my guitarsound looped in.. with the swith you can turn that on/off or blend with the syntsound..pretty handy device..

  • ah, thanks for the response

  • yeah me like too ....

Drummer for 25+ years .... sounds good keep it up

    regards,

    Rob

  • hey u r fantastic...

  • incredible! your like dream theater but a one man band

  • thank you very much..i just love to make music...;0

  • Very nice playing and nice composition but I don't get the Karoke guitar stuff-you should be playing with a full group and making the big bucks. . I am curious about the drums...live recording or loops? Nice job on the guitar.

  • well i have my trio for live-gig's only were not getting paid big bucks if we get paid at all.. everybody wants always everything for free..that seems to be very normal nowadays

the drums on this recording are made with the boss-880 and the sample-sounds of ezy-drummer, i never use preset drums..(like i now already do for the last 20 years..check myspace for a more clear idea on my works (albums, projects) that will awnser some of your questions

    cheers, joop..

  • Why is it that every effects or synth guitar player thinks it sounds better to have four or five extra instruments pre-tracked as background "flavor". Apparently even the Roland site (VG-99) does that for some of the demos.....it sells to stupid ears. I for one think it should be mandated, however noble the musician showing the product's capabilities, be made to list exactly what other sounds were generated at other times!!

  • just for the simple fact that my main goal hereis to make an arrangement and write tunes....iám not getting paid by roland

just to show that this device enables you to make quick demoes on your own...

that has nothing to do with stupid ears it has something to do with function for an affordable price for people to get creative

otherwise it's up to yourself to see what you can do with a device like this..

i guess that will awnser all your questions

  • hi!!!!

    very nice yor music ...

can you play sun moove wth instalacin on gk3 ...

    tnks

  • Go on their website you will see they only sell Gr-20. I really think others got Discontinued so you will need to get them used.

  • finally someone who can make this thing sound good.

All the others I heard sound soooooo cheezy

    How is the tracking?

    Especially in the lower register.

  • The organ patch already has vibrato. When you add your own it creates a chaotic warbling sound which is not nice. Nice playing

  • Man, you demonstrate this great! I have a question, have you used the gr-33? I am looking at getting a roland synth, but I don't know whether to buy a gr-33,or a gr-20, what do you think?

  • gr-20 is the one that is sold. 33 is discontinued I think.

  • what about 30?

i don't know which to get

    out of 20,30 or 33

  • wow man i love listening to your music!!! my favorite song is "I don't know". keep up the good work!!

  • Have you ever tryed a gr-20 with a midi keyboard? It should work wouldnt it? i have gr-20 and was thinking about looking into midi keycontrollers for other stuff, but it would be a bonus if the gr-20 worked with a key as well.

    justin

  • thanks for info Joop

    Leo

  • Incidentaly....

how much of a problem is the retriggering from accidental finger noise ??

    thankx

    leo

  • it's just a matter of making the proper height of the pickup and the good velocity setting on the device.. play as clear as posible..than it will work..

    cheers, joop

  • Hello Joop

    nice playing,,,,, good sounds.

I play guitar but wanted some additional sounds on my 4 track... so was going to buy a small bass guitar... and borrow a keyboard... now listening to this machine,,I think it may be what Im looking for...

    thanks for posting

    Regards

    leo

  • Very cool stuff, the device and your playing, taht is. I'd like one of these but even though it is relatively cheap, I still can't really afford it right now.

  • echt een leuk ding

  • jOpiE! Wat klinkt het toch allemaal lekker zeg!!

Tering, wat prachtig. Wanneer ga je naast Neal Schon spelen? Kan hij ook nog wat leren. :)

    Cheers,

    Erik Willems

  • Awesome Joop! I just got mine with the gk-3b. this is just as much fun on the Bass!

  • you use it much better than johnny DeMarco

  • hi hope this helps you guys ..., yes it is the roland gr-20 and if you install the pickup proparly, it is a little millimeter work and ajusting on the divice input level etc.....it also helps a lot to play all the notes as good as possible..;), but then on the guitar it follows up very nice, cool soundbanks too..

  • Dude please help me with this.

I am really interested in buying one of these.

    What is the tracking like?

    Is there any latency/delay?

    Please let me know

  • Can you hook this up to the keyboard and actually use the keyboard sounds (samples)i am talking about profesional keyboard

  • Nice work my friend! Just wondering about the efektpedal you using (roland gr 20?).. Is the tone come direct when you hit the string or is there a small delay of the tone? Thinking of bying one of those.. :P Happy for answer! kalle (sweden)

  • Very nice, I got the same Synth but I put it onto a Bouzouki.......... played that since I was young and now I got endless sound capabilities

  • you rock!

  • thanx for the input..i went out andbought one yesterday...been playing almost non stop ever sincE...time to sleep

  • does it track well with stanley jordan type solo tapping?

  • Exactly the demo vid i was looking for!...a REAL player with technique demonstrating what the GR20 can do!....very impressed, with both the Gr-20 and your performance!...u use a loop station also?

  • You rock so hard! Love you albums too. Post more vids!

  • Outstanding Joop. Top notch stuff!

  • I just bought this today!!! It kicks ass!!! I've been playing on it for like 4hours haha and I just took a break!

  • Hi Joop!
