Yep Jacko had a television show called the Highwayman that was aired here in the US about a pair of mercenaries who rode around in a truck that had a helicopter built into it.
Australia's produced some real media characters in her day... Rolf Harris, Charlie Drake, Olivia Newton-John, Evonne Goolagong and ol' "Mad Max" himself... But none of them do "in your face" with such gusto as this jackaroo! He's a hoot!
True. This guy got interviewed on KCBS in San Francisco during the Bill Ring 49ers show, it was funny as hell. and while the show on the Miyako Hotel called wantinig to discuss the subject of a trashed hotel room. KCBS should have it in their archives somewhere,...it's a classic!
at school we are doing a home experiment, and we can choose anything we want, so ive chosen "which battery brand lasts longer in a high powered device" so i hope these really do last longer than all the rest! i think they will.
im going with Energizer, eveready, and a generic brand.

Jacko was kind of fun, but we grew weary of him after about six months. Have no idea where he is now.

Quite possibly the most annoying commercial ever made.
Five stars.

I was working as a cinematographer for a small production company and we were tasked to produce a 'making of' for the Agency.
He certainly was a funny bastard. The out-takes were hilarious. :)

tmoverbeck .. you idiot .. that's Duracell ROFLMAO!
Energizer now use that annoying animated battery thing that's 10x's more annoying then Jacko ever was .. go figure!
I was at the shoot of that commercial, filming a 'making of' .. he's a hoot of a man! :)

The Aussie accents on this ad would have sounded weird yet refreshing on American TV.

Yes I know 72guy, thanks mate. What meant was, this would have sounded totally different to what you were use to on American TV back in the 80's. :)

He taught a whole generation of American children to be frightened of Australians...

If only Jacko still made commercials.
And this is an example of America's 1980s Australia fetish.
