Boo. Sorry, but I honesty was VERY disappointed when I heard this craptacular theme music begin the 98 Daytona 500 broadcast. 95-97 Version was much catchier/deeper. I still love Ken Squier though.

Wait wait wait. How did CBS manage to show the Daytona 500 during the Olympics? When you have the Olympics, you are obligated and required to show it whenever you have air time and cast whatever other programming you may have had planned to the wind.

@MrLogoman007 Simple answer. Time zones. Nagano is 13 hours ahead of the eastern time zone. The 500 was still at its midday start time when it would have been in the middle of the night in Japan and therefore no live events to cover.

Ken Squier... I ran the board at his radio station WDEV in Waterbury, Vermont for a few Thunder Road and Airborne short track races. I worked for him for 6 of the best years I've ever spent in radio.

Now this is pretty cool...it turns out this theme was composed by a married couple. The credits go to Godfrey Nelson (who has a small snippet of the theme on his Web site) and Lorraine Nelson Wolf (yes, the married name is before the maiden name).

Eh...I'd put this at #3 on my list of best Nascar themes. This is extremely catchy but way too tense, even for 1998 standards. The original Fox theme is my absolute number one (I STILL don't know why they got rid of it), and the '98 ESPN Speedworld theme is second best. I think fun yet aggressive rock music sets the perfect mood for any televised race.

Are you working on any of the other "classic" NASCAR themes (ABC's Wide World of Sports, NASCAR on TBS, NASCAR on FOX, NASCAR on NBC/TNT edit of "Fuel", ESPN Speedworld, NASCAR on TNT's "Born To Be Wild" cover by Hinder, and the old TNN Motorsports theme"? LOL. The ONLY one I've been able to find a download of is the NASCAR on FOX theme.

This is one song that fits very well into NASCAR. The other one is ESPN's theme song from 1999-2000. That theme is pretty catchy too. I also believe it is still used somewhat in other ESPN Racing.
