I love this song! And im only 16 in the us where kids my age have never heard of this music and new crappy pop has taken over the radio. They should play these songs and the other irish classics
couldn't believe it when YouTube popped this up for me. Clancy & Makem singing THIS? Coupla Paddies singing this hippie organic dope grower song? Arlo Guthrie does a great version of it, and it fits his image. But they do what may be the vocally best version of it I've heard . Awesome.
This was my mother's favorite song.. she was a gardner and just passed away suddenly this past weekend. Listening to it, I could feel her near.. thank you!
This just made my day! I have not heard this song since first grade when we had to learn it for grandparents day. I had it stuck in my head ever since.
Thanks for posting this beautiful, yet rustic song.
This is a very simple song to play, in terms of chords, but Liam Clancy seems to adding extra notes to the standard major and minor chords. Would anyone be kind enough to discern what they are?
Do you know the rest of the words? if so, could you please post them up? Would greatly appreciate it. (hearing this for the first time; absolutely love it and would like to add it to my repertoire) Thanks.
Inch by inch, row by row Gonna make this garden grow All it takes is a rake and a hoe And a piece of fertile ground Inch by inch, row by row Someone bless these seeds I sow Someone warm them from below 'Til the rain comes tumbling down Pulling weeds and pickin' stones Man is made from dreams and bones Feel the need to grow my own 'Cause the time is close at hand Grain for grain, sun and rain Find my way in nature's chain To my body and my brain
yes. sorry to break it to everyone but this is an american song, written by an american and usually performed by american artists.
