  • what's the name of the book and author? could you please reply by PM ?

    thanks!

  • Part of the Toyota philosphy is not to overload the workers. Some people have low standards for how much work is a full days work. Therefore it looks to them that Toyota workers are overburdened.

  • id agree with you but also in japan they live to work .... everywhere else in the world we work to live...we will never match them because they love very hard work and this is all they want to do.

  • From where I am sitting (in Sweden) it doesn't look to me that you are completely right. A lot of people here forget to live during the week and take all their frustrations out on the weekend.

Even if we cannot match their output, it doesn't mean that we need to have a negative attitude towards the idea of more work. Who says we are working hard enugh as it is. We need to reconsider our situation each time a there is a call for a change. Not all employers are out to exploit their workers.

  • i understand where your coming from with that point, but i think alot of workers are to lazy and dont put in 100% into there work.i love hard work myself i get a great sense of satisfaction from getting a job done on time and as quickly as possible with maximum quality, but there are very few ppl ive ever worked with who share my beliefs

  • @scottstrike10 Agreed that there is an element of cultural difference there, however I think it has more to do with the fact that in Japan they actually involve their workers in decision processes, and I think that if much of the business on our end of town, had done that, you have to agree that you would feel, slightly, more motivated to turn up to work.

  • the money is great, but management works your ass off, thats for sure.

  • Hi there, i work for Toyota and the system is close to perfect. its is hard on the workers but the workers get paid very very well for their hard work. so i think Toyota are doing very well and they deserve to me at the position that their are at today

  • Based on....? Your own experience or some unbiased research. So far research I'm aware of shows it benefits workers as much as the company.

  • I am sorry to say this but grayhall1 may be partly right. I for one had the chance to visit some factories of Toyota during 2006, 2007. I am under the impression that, in general terms, Toyota workers where slightly but noticeably more worn out than others peers.

  • Good Interview

  • Many thanks for putting these clips up :) John Seddon is a great translator of Ohno, Deming and systems thinking in general.
