why do your think shoving your dick up somebody butt is the same as allowing life into this world and actually doing productive things? if you have 2o random faggots and dropped them off in a remote location they will not raise up a properly functioning
society. Aswell as getting all sorts of diseases through rectum. it is not manly nor is it good it's a waste of time effort and is stupid with no reasoning. All they say is because I feel like it. IF that is an argument than murders are ok.
Civil union (currently labeled as 'marriage') is a governmental classification that has much more to do with monetary rights and responsibilities. Traditional marriage (no matter its cultural iteration) is extra-governmental at its core; in its historical form it is a covenant entered into to preserve the family unit (generated by procreation). 'Marriage' doesn't make sense for homosexual relationships b/c they don't produce family units. We're debating civil-union-mislabeled-as-marriage here.

@sshatswell marriage really has nothing to do with procreating....you can get pregnant without being married (just look at the 750,000 teen pregnancies per year). If there were no marriage in society, people would still reproduce..and if everyone woke up tomorrow gay, we would still figure it out (we are people, not animals working on instinct alone). A good question to ask is why can straight couples have so many divorces and society is okay with it. That's really horrible on a family.

Many of us in Europe are joining the culture wars to keep gay activists' hands off the traditional family and keep their own social fictions to their inner city ghettos. Secular ideologies killed millions of Europeans in the 20th century, many of us are not prepared to let gay ideologies impose its agenda on Europe.
god, if you ever read your bible, gave every human the freedom of choice. so according to your bible gays have every right to do as they wish. Read and learn. you go against your bible by restricting their rights.
Dude I was just kidding. I do believe God gave us a free Will and we are to Choose how we live our lives. I have many gay friends that hate prop 8 I hate it to. I was really just trying to be sarcastic but it did'nt work.-sorry.
sorry then, too. sarcasm is hard to know on the computer, especially when you don't know who the other person is that said it. religion makes me sort of angry. =]
It is true that God gave us (humans that is) the freedom of choice, however that does not make it right to go against him Him. He still loves each and every person alive today and longs for us to love Him back. However He also told us, I believe in the book of Exodus, that it is wrong, unclean and immoral to have sexual relations with the same sex and animals.
Divorce is wrong too, and that's pretty easy to do these days. So many wrong things happen, so why should gays not be allowed to be married or at least get the same rights as a married couple if they want to be together? If you are going with the bible I'm sure abortion is horrible to you, is that not worse than two people loving each other? But it is legal. For the benefit of other people I'm pro-choice, not because I think an embryo isn't a person, but because I think it's a personal decision.
On the subject of abortion, I believe it should be an option but not pressed upon young women who've made a "mistake". I don't believe the government should subsidize it rather I think it should be the state's choice whether it should be legal or not and I believe that the female considering abortion should also be presented with the other options as well. As for the gay marriage, I just don't have a whole lot of sympathy for them I'm sorry, no matter what anyone says it is a choice.
Yes getting married is a choice for both str8 and gay couples, but being gay is not. A gay man could remain a virgin and celibate until the day he dies, but he would still be a gay man. I can't speak for lesbians since I am not one.
@prettywomanwalking I have no sympathy for: a woman being beat by her man (if you want to live like an animal, be prepared to be treated like an animal), aborted babies (part of straight moral shortcomings), a girl becoming pregnant at a very young age (it may be natural, but again, stop acting like the animals), rape (most rapes are woman being raped by men..yes, straights are fucked up). Straights should be living in the jungle with the other animals..and you have no idea if it's choice.
Back when the world was presumed flat a very small percent of the people alive believed it to be round. Those few turned out to be correct. It matters not how many believe only if it is right or not.
Yes, the world does eventually change as new, better information arrives. The problem is, yours is the old stuff that we now know to be wrong... and I'm part of those "few" who will turn out to be correct on this.
Exodus does say no gay sex, but it also approves of slavery, rape, forced marriages, and murder. Are you believing and practicing those parts as well? If not, then why not? Is not your Bible "true"?
Ok then give me the exact scripture that you are pulling these twisted facts from, and perhaps I can clear this up for you. And please don't do like the last guy and give up without sending me the verses. You'll probably say "Oh well you should be able to find them yourself." but the problem is the Bible has a tendency of repeating itself and not always with the same wording. So if you would be so kind as to tell me the verses I will do my best to help you out with your misunderstanding.
You know, it's easy. Just go to.... evilbible.c0m and all the info is there, and you can check it with your own Bible. Then, let me know if you're following all those rules, too!
I doubt I am following any of the rules God gave us all the time. I make mistakes, I sin, and so does everyone else. My interpretation of God's "rules" is that they are guidelines for us to TRY to be more Christ-like. But we can't be perfect on our own so we need God's forgiveness through Jesus. But it doesn't hurt to make moral decisions and not go sinning whenever it's convenient.
Christianity may have good elements to it, but it's NOT "God's Word". any rational person looking at it will see that, in context, the Bible is OK with rape, murder, slavery and forced marriages. there's no explaining it away. "God" has no TRUE rules against being gay. To do so would be counter to God's intent when God created gay people!
@IantoCross god made everything so shut your trap you stupid ignorant faggot if it weren't for god you would not even exist he is the creator of everything he decides what is right and wrong not you. Putrid filth of society...
How does Jesus define adultery? According to Jesus, you are an adulterer. Do you own any possessions? Why? Didn't Jesus command you to give all your possessions to the poor and follow him? The law of God demands impossible perfection and christians who are anti-gay are so arrogant to think they are somehow morally acceptable to God and the gay person is not? Christ is the savior for all sinners. Those who experience forgiveness have absolute no authority to judge others.
But that's just it, God doesn't demand perfection because we are not perfect. And He loves us for our imperfections. You see God can't accept anything that isn't perfect, so in order to make a bridge between man and God we had to be made perfect. God did this through a sacrifice of His own Son. I'm sure you know all this by now, but my point is God doesn't demand perfection, he gives it.
I actually agree with you there, but I still disagree with you when you stated earlier that having same sex relations in equal to having sex with animals, If that is the case, having lust in the heart for someone of opposite sex is equal to having sex with a baby. Why is homsexual love between two consenting adults considered equally degrading as murder, incest, and rape? Because the Bible says so it not s sufficient answer. Why would a loving God make that conclusion?
this may seem trivial but we are trying to figure out what we as civilians can do to to influence the cultural mentality of our country. let's be realistic. we are a nation of consumers, and what we consume both reflects and influences our culture. if a ton of people started wearing t-shirts that simply read 'i support gay marriage' or 'keep your crucifix to yourself', or whatever, all of a sudden walking down the street is actively putting the issues right in everyone's faces.
plans for boycotts and system reform are great and important but rarely actually happen. think smaller.
A T-SHIRT REVOLUTION, if you will.
if someone sold cheap t-shirts with progressive slogans using fun graphics, a trend would begin and even those who were raised by conservative, religious parents would want to be a part of it. they would buy a shirt because all their friends have one and realize how cool it is to be progressive.
Given that violent movies and television shows desensitize the populace to violence, fictional media depicting positive resolutions to the"age-old-good-vs.-evil" problem (the favored genera of youth, at least my youth) in an atheistic(or religion is a private thing separate from government/schools/businesses etc) society should help to bring about a change in perception. And hopefully lead to action.
We must also seek to take politics out of the realm of tabu. There are people that will get offended if you try and talk about issues they really believe in, and disagree about. Since when is it not ok to believe differently, regardless of whether or not your wrong? The point is, discuss, form new opinions people!
We(me u and everyone we know)must encourage each other 2 post videos on hot topics such as
- Women's rights to choose
- Gay marriage
- Protection of our existing civil rights
- ect.
That will get more people thinking, then talking.
Someone(me u or anyone we know) must unilaterally create a catchy and accurate symbol for that cause. Once something is symbolic, it can b put on flags and signs. I was thinking of an outline of a wedding ring shaded rainbow for gay marriage.
okay so here is what U do. Get a thousand or two in each precint to take a political tycoo against whoever is in office and vote them out! Vote them out each 2 yrs or 6 yrs. These groups organize people and inform them and go on to get the members to serve the people! (make sense?) On a national level is difficult so maybe at least 3/4 of the members so that there can be overrules on bills and we get what we want.we need more cynthia McKinney's and dennis Kucinich's
Oh yeah and to all antiwar junkies the reason obama wants to take troop out of iraq is so he can expand the conflict to include parts o nuclear armed pakistan. Yeah that real smart of him <_<
i wonder if this guy is aware obama endorses relgious teaching in public schools. Obviously he like all hippy liberals have not actually done their homework on their beloved saviour.
Why do espouse intelligent ideas amongst the foolish, hence Hollywood's bullshit elite and yet try to pander to the same set of megalomaniacs with your attempt to gain a pilot.? You cannot mock those that you imitate nor follow those that you mock. I know this is sorta a conundrum so please forgive me.
My idea to helping start this "culture war" is to run for any office to push your own agenda. We have enough douche bag politicians pushing the corporations interest. We need more regular citizens pushing their agendas. Now of course everyone has their own priorities but it is probably better than some corporate interest. Myself, I'm running for the local school board. If your gonna influence anyone, its going to be the kids cause they are so damn impressionable, hehehe
A good culture war would be if the Economy would collapse (I hope) then you will have conservatives, liberals, left wing, right wing militants fighting (be it violent or non violent) for control. Now that would be a show to watch, also you might notice that it will be bankers and politicians, instead of people who sit at home watching it on T.V eating their Bic Macs.
good vid. Ok ..the ways to change the world are legion yet most require numbers, which mean organization. Here are my 2 ideas.
1. "Responsible Citizens" ala Robert Heinlen's book "Starship Troopers"
2. Controlled Spending...the dollar rules all! ..Support only what you believe in research where you are putting your money..this can and does change the world daily
Hopefully, HR 1955 hasn't been passed by being pushed into another bill. Because then we wouldn't be able to try to change anything.
I think first thing that needs to happen is that people need to get their morals back and stick to them, most importantly to stop fucking over other people.
Everyone needs to realize the fact that the real protagonists aren't being blamed, it's mostly the corporations.
We all need to figure out what's actually important to us. And it's not our noise and toys.
marriage is religious, the government should not be involved in the right at all, particularly the lawyer part of government. End divorce by keeping government out of religion
how to do your part, simple. every time a jehovas witness comes to your door read them the passage in Deuteronomy that tells you to stone disobedient children.
those who are thinking about getting married should wait, and tell their churches that they can't until there is equality. Give the churches the message that it is them that are hurting marriage!! I have officially decided I will not become a church member, I went back and forth for a while on wether or not to baptize my kids, but after seeing their strong position on prop 8, my kids will not be a part of this religion. I believe in god, and they know of him, but god is love not hate!
here in california people, I am surprised at the number, who are against gay marriage, with signs on their front yard saying yes on 8 "protect marriage" how exactly is gay marriage going to hurt or destroy marriage? Oprah, Brad Pitt they aren't marrying because of this inequality. Maybe we who are married should get divorced until there is equality, than marriage would really be destroyed,
1. Live and let live. This is what REAL men do! This rule should be in our National Anthem!
2. Throw our money out the window, let it fly away, without these pieces of paper that mean absolutely nothing, our society would not be this bucket of inequality.
3. DO NOT CONFORM, in any way what so ever! SOMEONE WOKE UP, one day and decided that typing in caps is equivalent to screaming or yelling...but is it really or did everyone just CONFORM? TYPE IN CAPS, it doesn't REALLY hurt the eyes!
Your are correct on the get people not to go to work for two days. This would stop America and make her scratch.
Part to is vote for Nader or any third party candidate. Honestly tyhey won'tg win but this is moire about being heard. Ross Perot got 19 million votes in 1992. He was on a debate as I remember.
1. legalize marijuana: there are many good solid reasons, none of which i am going to state. its fun?
2. associate with more conservatives. the problem facing obama is the chance of hypocrisy on actualizing his solutions due to conservatism. people think that a too democratic government will be too liberal. the only problem with that is...roughly half of america is still technically "conservative". try to convey your ideas in a positive, constructive way.
the "youth of america" love t-shirts, viral trends, reality shows, and celebrities. if anything is going to influence the culture of america, it will be one or all of those. so make t-shirts with a funny progressive quotes/pictures of celebs...like ellen degeneres kissing portia or a brangelina quote. sell em cheap on college campuses and see that they make it on vh1 best week ever and other reality shows. wear the issues on your chest.
We need a multi cultural World, and not a new World Order, and certainly not a ONE nation under God thingy. The goal of a multi cultural Society, is to embrace each others differences including the nations that we all come from. Lets celebrate Russia, Iran, China, Ireland, France, Bolivia...these are some of the places we all come from.
All people United, all Countries unitedunited with respect for one another. Celebrate together. Dont allow division by those that would enslave you to a ONE World, One God, or One Nation concept. Peace!
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the STATES respectively, or to the PEOPLE."
~10th Amendment
This is what we get with no checks and balances with the federal government -- States should have the right to make laws coming from the people that the federal government cannot overturn --- it is tyranny of centralized government
drugs are for people who dont like reality, everyone loves drugs just look at the pharmaceutical profits...yea but these are bad drugs drugs made in a factory
If Jeasus the Christ (aka "The King of Peace") was tormented, ignored, ridiculed for his words of wisdom and crucified for the sins of Man, then will they write a bible about the teachings and path of the "prince of Consumer protection" Ralph Nader 300 years after his death and all call out, what a shame the people back then were so ignorant?
Ralph F#*^!&g Nader is running for President and hasn't sold his soul or taken the bribes that McShame and Ol'Bamma have.
5. We need to acknowledge that religion is one of the most powerful forces on this country and we cannot afford to alienate all religious people. We need to court, not ridicule those that are not fanatic about religion. If we make a case out of morality, you may be surprised how many progressives that are in the religious camp who agree in seperation of church and state as well as liberalism (I am a PRIME example).
There really are a lot of us out here that believe in change but there is currently no real large network among us ( common people, not the institutional organization mentioned in #4). This of course will entail recruiting leaders and HEAVY monetary donations.
3. We need to destroy the anti-intellectualism that is strangling this country. This one may the hardest to accomplish; people like "fun", not ideas.
4. We need to organize so that we can hold our reps accountable. Single accounts of dissent, although encouraging, do not bring about results. Constitutional scholars, lawyers, doctors, students, progressive parishes...etc, need to band together so academia and legality combine to progress.
There are some fundamental issues that need to be addressed to make progressive advances.
1. While Obama is not perfect, he has given us an opening. He has begun a new coalition based on anti-Bushism. Liberals need to find a common strand that cements this new but frail coalition.
2. Media... this one is expensive but vitally important. Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck... they need to be nuetralized. We need personalities that rival their intensity but promotes liberalism.
You have to marvel and simultaneously hang your head in shame as an American to imagine anyone as unqualified as Palin would be nominated. The Republicans fear of multiculturalism is a throwback to segregation, and fear of "spreading wealth" is based on an imaginary premise that everyone in America has an equal chance to be wealthy. Redneck morons who think they'll be the next Bill Gates buy the Joe Plumber bs and wish for the 1950's as the world moves forward without them.
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the STATES respectively, or to the PEOPLE."
"It is great comedy to hear the secular, pro-gay left, so hostile to states rights in virtually every instance, suddenly discover the tyranny of centralized government. The newly minted protectors of local rule find themselves demanding: Why should Washington dictate marriage standards for Massachusetts and California? Let the people of those states decide for themselves. This is precisely the argument conservatives and libertarians have been making for decades!...
..."Why should Washington dictate education, abortion, environment, and labor rules to the states? The American people hold widely diverse views on virtually all political matters, and the Founders wanted the various state governments to most accurately reflect those views. This is the significance of the 10th Amendment, which the left in particular has abused for decades."
this is what we get with no checks and balances with the federal government -- States should have the right to make laws coming from the people that the federal government cannot overturn --- it is tyranny of centralized government -- read the 10th Amendment
Real freedom means the gov is not involved in the institution of marriage, gay or straight, period. Insuring gay couples is a matter to be dealt with through the Insurance industry not gov mandate. It's simple, the more localized gov is (more state power) the more possibility communities (gay or straight)have in changing laws regarding Insurance policies.
FUK Obama & FUK McCain. Both are gigantic Government stooges.
The culture wars were won by the right, and they effected changes, instituted thoughts, values and culture mainly through the educational system. People like E.D. Hirsch, former education secretary Bill Bennett, Allan Bloom, LYNNE CHENEY and others understood that culture is engendered through schooling, so they set out in 1980 to align educational standards with right wing cultural values. Multiculturalism was out, "core knowledge" (read middle class white male knowledge) was in. cont.
cont 2. Indeed, E.D. Hirsch developed a curriculum, "things your children need to know" series for K-12. It emphasized the "classics" and a canon of lit that consisted largely of dead white males, and a history rich in glorified empires. Hirsch's schools became particularly popular in poor black neighborhoods, as if so called minority kids didn't hate themselves enough! cont 3
cont 3. The Gay marriage issue is simply a distraction from the real motives of imperialists. If people fight over gay marriage, they'll be blind-sided when the rich people rip them off of $ trillions. oops, too late! Take back our public schools, exercise the demon of curriculum standardization and testing in kindergarten thru high school, when we end for-profit charter schools and national govt interference in ed, then we might be able to defeat the right in their culture wars.
Everyone should engage as many people as possible about this issue and school them on it. A simple thing really but what better way to pass on ideas than to prove bigots and assholes wrong until they shut the fuck up.
Brad Pitt seems to be pretty cool. I'd make a similar pledge if not for the fact that
a. I live in a country that has legalized same-sex marriage and
b. I'm not looking into marrying.
Also, Brad and Angelina apparently gave their kids normal names, unlike most other celebs. Not that i actually care, but I'd wager their relationship might last a while.
here's an idea.. What if everyone has the same rights and is taxed the same whether or not they are married. How about people can have share a health insurance policy whether or not they are married? Why is marriage such a big deal anyway? Seems like they are really trying to push marriage on everyone. If you can't or don't get married you get screwed. WTF!
You want me to propose a tactic for how to win the culture wars? I can't think of any.
I suppose you need to have strict limits on campaign funding, ie: the most anyone can spend on a campaign is say $10 000, so instead of smears we have journalism... but I can't think of how we convince America it is a good idea.
I say that if the United States gov. wants to DENY it's gay citizens their protected civil rights because of their homosexuality then we the people in return should get something as well. Lets say oh...the Patriot Act. They give up the Patriot Act and we'll give up marriage. FAIR?
well if they WANTED to keep "One nation under God" in and still stick to the constitution...
One nation under:
Allah
Yaweh
Buddah
Krishna
Xenu
etc...
(actually that still wouldn't pass as it says "establishing no religion", not establishing "all". With this in mind, one nation under ___ is pretty fucked, ay?)
You know, I thought Brad and Angelina were already married....
'One nation under ____' Or do we just take it out? For many generations, wouldn't it just be awkward to say the Pledge of Allegiance without 'One nation under God'? But as you said, it breaks the First amendment, and so does not being able to marry the one you love. (AKA Gay marriage) Hope that's enough, and thanks for making a fabulous video! C:
i'm an independent candidate for congress in PA endorsed by nader and running on the same ballot line as him. please check out my youtube channel and donate at johnmurphyforcongress (dot) org (slash) donations (dot) htm
i am in desperate need of money. i have run out of it and run out of campaign literature and campaign signs.
Obama and McCain both said they are against Same sex marriage. I find it funny though that all my bi and gay friends still want to vote for Obama. The kool aid must be really potent.
One nation under god was a pretty good Idea I say... if a nation forgets god for too long they actually do start looking like the soviets and Chinese. God is not religious God is spiritual
I love that screen shot Davis. Those Right Wing Politicians have their masonic man on man rituals in private, while lashing out at the weak liberal sissies in public, who do the same thing.
Unlike McCain and Obama, I prefer women only.
BUT it's a crazy world and they are free to choose their preference, that's what's separates us Patriots from those fascists and Communists. They can still have their man on man masonic rituals if there is equal Lezzy/Gae rights +5
i'm glad it's a culture war. b/c any other war is pointless. culture is what you believe in and who you are. that is, in my opinion, the only things worth fighting for. race, nationality, even political parties, are all pointless made up things that divide us and make people hate eachother.
The ad on the side says "OBAMA calls prop 8 Divisive and Discriminatory". Is that true cause last I heard he didn't have the balls to say yes to gay marriage for the country and that states should decide. So he agrees gays in cali have the right but other states he's not sure? Don't be a half ass progressive, Vote Nader.
Simply put, just take a look at the history of art, yes art, and you will quickly see that all religion is fabricated. There is no higher power, strike that, there is a higher power but not in the form of an invisible guy floating in the sky, the higher power exists in us it is the good that you do for others, thats all. Religions just stink the joint up!
McCain is unelectable, so cue up the diebold machines to rig the vote, and presto, whats in the news now, the diebold machines screwing up!
Revise the DSM-IV-TR (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fourth edition), and have them add "belief in a religion" is a mental illness. Then state that those with that diagnosis are too mentally ill to vote.
I think we should all arm our selves and fight them back the same way they will fight us if we try to force them out of power.
the care not about our protests and our bogus elections. they just want to keep the power in the hands of the same type of people whom have ruled for hundreds of years.
unless we train and arm our selves we stand no chance.
where are the modern day Lee harvey oswalds when we need them most?
Let's go green and stand up to the threats of the religious right. By doing this we solve two major problems. If we no longer depend on oil then the middle east loses its importance and if we stop bowing to the conservative right fundamentalists who threaten boycotts and voting threats we deflate their power. If anyone has the balls/ovaries to call their bluff we would all see the paper tiger for what it is- enough already! Freedom Of Religion and Freedom From Religion.
I'm not sure how I would answer your question exactly. The only thing I am sure of is that it's long overdue those of us who have been afraid to stand up and let it be known that we reject these ideas of religion do so. We've been afraid because we live in small towns and they're not exactly well known for being accepting of new ideas, or of having an open mind. They use fear to controll people.
The solution to the cultural wars is to get Brad Pitt to run for president in 2012. Everybody (gays, lesbians, blacks, whites, Catholics, Protestants, Atheists) everybody loves Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. They have alot of money to run a competitive campaign and they would get alot of mainstream media attention. They would have to get married first, of course. What do you think? Could Brad Pitt be the next president of the United States?
On second thought, Brad and Angelina don't have to get married because nowadays it's not necessary for two people to get married. In my opinion, marriage is an outdated custom.
First step is to realise the truth, the truth being that your peasents with no power. We have no power because the constitution currently stands for we the government and not we the people. The law of the land protects the government and not the people. Second step would be to obtain power, the central power of government via the:
ni4d*dot*us
Third we can begin ending the tyranny of the minority that has plagued the US since 1917
You may think I'm crazy for saying it you want to really start a culture war and re-ignite it? Legalize or Decriminalize Marijuana. End the war on drugs make Obama keep one of his grand promises. We will have have a full veto proof majority Senate, a full Congress, and a democratic President. There should be no reason why he shouldn't. Then our government could sell us it in Cafes like Europe, make money from it, pay off our debts, and have a Universal Health Care system.
the very first thing to do is strengthen education. we're already allowing the generations that have gone through the system since education declined to instill their ignorant views in their children. we're mentally in the 1950's with a few adaptations to the way the world has changed. eventually we can work on changing the culture of civic duty, and make these people understand that, if they have religious beliefs, it is god's duty to make judgments and theirs to do what's best for the country.
I think that we, as progressives, need to show an adamant position in the culture war, while keeping a positive, loving and accepting attitude. We should show that we do have the moral high ground (which we usually do), and not be afraid to show it. Obama has helped progressives to impress others through grass roots organization, and has therefore adopted many more to the cause. Obama isn' the answer, but he is a bandaid. And a bigger one than we've seen in the past. There's more work to do.
If ihad a choice I would make it as basically saying if you have some bible thumpping christian saying that same sex marriage all you have to say is didnt Jesus teach us to love one another equally and to repect one another. Then you will be proving that they are ultimate contridictors.
the only way that these politicians will support gay marriage is if you have an overwhelming influx of gay mayors, govenors, politicians, i know there have been but we need to make it more prominent.
back of the gays god made us that way

Many of us in Europe are joining the culture wars to keep gay activists' hands off the traditional family and keep their own social fictions to their inner city ghettos. Secular ideologies killed millions of Europeans in the 20th century, many of us are not prepared to let gay ideologies impose its agenda on Europe.

Hmmm, so if someone has a moral position on an issue does that make him/her wrong? Why?
Does that make him/her some sort of radical? Why?
Is morality only taught in a religious context?
If we believe something is immoral do we outlaw it?
Which morals are ok to be in support of and which morals are wrong to support?

god, if you ever read your bible, gave every human the freedom of choice. so according to your bible gays have every right to do as they wish.

AirForce706 3 years ago
sorry then, too. sarcasm is hard to know on the computer, especially when you don't know who the other person is that said it. religion makes me sort of angry. =]
Flarf333 3 years ago
It is true that God gave us (humans that is) the freedom of choice, however that does not make it right to go against him Him. He still loves each and every person alive today and longs for us to love Him back. However He also told us, I believe in the book of Exodus, that it is wrong, unclean and immoral to have sexual relations with the same sex and animals.
prettywomanwalking 2 years ago
Divorce is wrong too, and that's pretty easy to do these days. So many wrong things happen, so why should gays not be allowed to be married or at least get the same rights as a married couple if they want to be together? If you are going with the bible I'm sure abortion is horrible to you, is that not worse than two people loving each other? But it is legal. For the benefit of other people I'm pro-choice, not because I think an embryo isn't a person, but because I think it's a personal decision.
Flarf333 2 years ago
On the subject of abortion, I believe it should be an option but not pressed upon young women who've made a "mistake". I don't believe the government should subsidize it rather I think it should be the state's choice whether it should be legal or not and I believe that the female considering abortion should also be presented with the other options as well. As for the gay marriage, I just don't have a whole lot of sympathy for them I'm sorry, no matter what anyone says it is a choice.
prettywomanwalking 2 years ago
Yes getting married is a choice for both str8 and gay couples, but being gay is not. A gay man could remain a virgin and celibate until the day he dies, but he would still be a gay man. I can't speak for lesbians since I am not one.
lucasboden 2 years ago
@prettywomanwalking I have no sympathy for: a woman being beat by her man (if you want to live like an animal, be prepared to be treated like an animal), aborted babies (part of straight moral shortcomings), a girl becoming pregnant at a very young age (it may be natural, but again, stop acting like the animals), rape (most rapes are woman being raped by men..yes, straights are fucked up). Straights should be living in the jungle with the other animals..and you have no idea if it's choice.

Oh please! Christians only make up 1/3 of the world's population... how is it that YOUR belief system is the right one? What crazy talk!
IantoCross 2 years ago
Back when the world was presumed flat a very small percent of the people alive believed it to be round. Those few turned out to be correct. It matters not how many believe only if it is right or not.
prettywomanwalking 2 years ago
Yes, the world does eventually change as new, better information arrives. The problem is, yours is the old stuff that we now know to be wrong... and I'm part of those "few" who will turn out to be correct on this.
Exodus does say no gay sex, but it also approves of slavery, rape, forced marriages, and murder. Are you believing and practicing those parts as well? If not, then why not? Is not your Bible "true"?
IantoCross 2 years ago
Ok then give me the exact scripture that you are pulling these twisted facts from, and perhaps I can clear this up for you. And please don't do like the last guy and give up without sending me the verses. You'll probably say "Oh well you should be able to find them yourself." but the problem is the Bible has a tendency of repeating itself and not always with the same wording. So if you would be so kind as to tell me the verses I will do my best to help you out with your misunderstanding.
prettywomanwalking 2 years ago
You know, it's easy. Just go to.... evilbible.c0m and all the info is there, and you can check it with your own Bible. Then, let me know if you're following all those rules, too!
IantoCross 2 years ago
I doubt I am following any of the rules God gave us all the time. I make mistakes, I sin, and so does everyone else. My interpretation of God's "rules" is that they are guidelines for us to TRY to be more Christ-like. But we can't be perfect on our own so we need God's forgiveness through Jesus. But it doesn't hurt to make moral decisions and not go sinning whenever it's convenient.
prettywomanwalking 2 years ago
Christianity may have good elements to it, but it's NOT "God's Word". any rational person looking at it will see that, in context, the Bible is OK with rape, murder, slavery and forced marriages. there's no explaining it away. "God" has no TRUE rules against being gay. To do so would be counter to God's intent when God created gay people!

Those who experience forgiveness have absolute no authority to judge others.
lucasboden 2 years ago
But that's just it, God doesn't demand perfection because we are not perfect. And He loves us for our imperfections. You see God can't accept anything that isn't perfect, so in order to make a bridge between man and God we had to be made perfect. God did this through a sacrifice of His own Son. I'm sure you know all this by now, but my point is God doesn't demand perfection, he gives it.
prettywomanwalking 2 years ago

So basically, let's get the idea into mass media.

We(me u and everyone we know)must encourage each other 2 post videos on hot topics such as

I believe in god, and they know of him, but god is love not hate!

Finally... ORGANIZE, NETWORK, ORGANIZE.
There really are a lot of us out here that believe in change but there is currently no real large network among us ( common people, not the institutional organization mentioned in #4). This of course will entail recruiting leaders and HEAVY monetary donations.
brenna1975 3 years ago
3. We need to destroy the anti-intellectualism that is strangling this country. This one may the hardest to accomplish; people like "fun", not ideas.
4. We need to organize so that we can hold our reps accountable. Single accounts of dissent, although encouraging, do not bring about results. Constitutional scholars, lawyers, doctors, students, progressive parishes...etc, need to band together so academia and legality combine to progress.
brenna1975 3 years ago
There are some fundamental issues that need to be addressed to make progressive advances.
1. While Obama is not perfect, he has given us an opening. He has begun a new coalition based on anti-Bushism. Liberals need to find a common strand that cements this new but frail coalition.
2. Media... this one is expensive but vitally important. Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck... they need to be nuetralized. We need personalities that rival their intensity but promotes liberalism.

Multiculturalism was out, "core knowledge" (read middle class white male knowledge) was in. cont.
peacelf 3 years ago
cont 2. Indeed, E.D. Hirsch developed a curriculum, "things your children need to know" series for K-12. It emphasized the "classics" and a canon of lit that consisted largely of dead white males, and a history rich in glorified empires. Hirsch's schools became particularly popular in poor black neighborhoods, as if so called minority kids didn't hate themselves enough! cont 3
peacelf 3 years ago

(actually that still wouldn't pass as it says "establishing no religion", not establishing "all". With this in mind, one nation under ___ is pretty fucked, ay?)
Brettah31 3 years ago
You know, I thought Brad and Angelina were already married....
'One nation under ____' Or do we just take it out? For many generations, wouldn't it just be awkward to say the Pledge of Allegiance without 'One nation under God'? But as you said, it breaks the First amendment, and so does not being able to marry the one you love. (AKA Gay marriage) Hope that's enough, and thanks for making a fabulous video! C:

2. Universal health care.

David there is no winning

Rasputin433 3 years ago
your probably right, there is no winning. but the reason for that is such defeatist attitude as exactly what you are now showing.
"the world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who stand idly by and do nothing".

also, victory is not won in one fight. reality is not the product of just one event.

i'm glad it's a culture war. b/c any other war is pointless. culture is what you believe in and who you are. that is, in my opinion, the only things worth fighting for. race, nationality, even political parties, are all pointless made up things that divide us and make people hate eachother.

Then state that those with that diagnosis are too mentally ill to vote.
orki1960 3 years ago 3
Look up the DSM definition of "delusion"- It makes an exception for religious beliefs, which would otherwise fit the definition all too well.

Could Brad Pitt be the next president of the United States?
couragetolive 3 years ago
On second thought, Brad and Angelina don't have to get married because nowadays it's not necessary for two people to get married. In my opinion, marriage is an outdated custom.

If one wanted true change for America:
First step is to realise the truth, the truth being that your peasents with no power. We have no power because the constitution currently stands for we the government and not we the people. The law of the land protects the government and not the people. Second step would be to obtain power, the central power of government via the:

Third we can begin ending the tyranny of the minority that has plagued the US since 1917

You may think I'm crazy for saying it you want to really start a culture war and re-ignite it? Legalize or Decriminalize Marijuana. End the war on drugs make Obama keep one of his grand promises. We will have have a full veto proof majority Senate, a full Congress, and a democratic President. There should be no reason why he shouldn't. Then our government could sell us it in Cafes like Europe, make money from it, pay off our debts, and have a Universal Health Care system.
S1Genocide 3 years ago
Our government?
even if marijuana were legalized, our government wouldn't be selling it, companies would.
And our government wouldn't be getting taxes from it being sold out of country.
Unless you are suggesting Obama is going to make America a socialist state. That, I highly doubt.

the very first thing to do is strengthen education. we're already allowing the generations that have gone through the system since education declined to instill their ignorant views in their children. we're mentally in the 1950's with a few adaptations to the way the world has changed. eventually we can work on changing the culture of civic duty, and make these people understand that, if they have religious beliefs, it is god's duty to make judgments and theirs to do what's best for the country.
qbtalshbh 3 years ago
I think that we, as progressives, need to show an adamant position in the culture war, while keeping a positive, loving and accepting attitude. We should show that we do have the moral high ground (which we usually do), and not be afraid to show it. Obama has helped progressives to impress others through grass roots organization, and has therefore adopted many more to the cause. Obama isn' the answer, but he is a bandaid. And a bigger one than we've seen in the past. There's more work to do.

You got it half right:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion . . ."
But you left this part out:
"or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . ."
How typical.

humility is a needed quality for the new america, we are not number 1 be are not even in the top ten (except expenditure in military)
the best thing america can do is put their foreing brain in charge, people educated in non religious freaky countries and follow them.
