Working 80 hours a week thousands of miles from home down a mine with heat and heavy lifting and constant danger is NOT the same as doing 38 hours a week in an airconditioned clothes shop in tha mall next to your home.
If you want more money, work harder. That's how men do it.
I have. I've looked at the evidence from both sides and women are NOT paid less for the same work. Infact they are hired with less qualifications and promoted before they are ready out of an employers fear of litigation.
Can everyone just please YT search on the words "pay gap warren farrell" and learn that women earn less, they're not paid less. Can you please thumb this up so that more people can see it?
Women do not make 77 cents to a man's dollar (or whatever the claim is). It's more like 95 cents. The raw wage gap has already been explained. When will we stop believing feminazi propaganda like we're a bunch of gullible baboons?
@MissMoxie78 No, I don't think there is, and I hope it stays that way. Government already interferes enough with private industry, in my opinion. But even in places that equal pay can apply, there can still occur the inevitable differences, such as the aforementioned maternity leave. In that respect, I don't think you can just place a blanket rule. It's kind of a gray area, isn't it? I personally won't jump to one immovable absolute, save for pockets of isolated incident.
@QuartuvLarry - UM maternity leave is really fucking easy to deal with and EASY to make non-sexist. Extend it to men. Some men want to take maternity leave, so your point is shit.
@MissMoxie78 You also make a salient point. Not all situations are equal; and biologically between the two sexes, they never are. There are certain advantages that one has that the other does not. Take Hooters, for lack of a better example. Yes, it seems unfair and chauvinistic with it's hiring policy, giving skinny broads preference over the thick ones, but it's a business that necessitates money over feelings. The best thing anyone can do is to press what advantages you do have.
Really? Equality? So why allow for maternity leave? That costs a business plenty o' moolah, doesn't it? Yes, yes it does! But it's all about sensitivity and compaaaaassion, right?
I know it's a major inconvenience, but getting preggers AIN'T the boss's responsibility, nor should it cost the company.
99 percent of all tests confirm it: Reality trumps emotional whimsy
It's not that women do the same as men and get less pay, It's that the biggest secret in the world is that men understand each other and can covertly communicate to the others he's actually doing more and that is in fact why men get paid more, they covertly also do more :)
Judging from the comments so far, Ms. Alyona, your comment have been perceived as for the most part sophmoric, ignorant of the facts, and highly emotional. I believe you to be very intelligent and influencial. However, take it for want it is worth, you do have some maturing to do. I think you have a great future, but remember you have the freedom to insult your audience, and they have the freedom to not listen. Whether you like it or not your job depends on how many are listening.
workers are not equal. Some work better then others. What wrong with different pay levels? Also the graph doesn't show how many of those women/men are getting overpaid for being under qualified.
@LordDyhalto i like this comment, i thumbed it up. But honestly, its kind of bitchy. you don't make things more equal by lowering wages for any gender.
@mahmooa1 They are paid the same you gullible naive little sheep. Manwomanmyth (google it) and watch all the videos in the right order on the video page.
Point 1: You can not prove that women get paid less. Statistics show numbers. It may show women in general get paid less. It is a logical fallacy however to assume that they get paid less then men because they are women. It is even a fallacy to assume women get paid less. Until recently men have been graduating more then women (college). If more men are working in a field, who makes more money? Then you have to consider stuff like. Women nurses and male doctors. Who gets paid more, and why?
Maybe businesses have the right to pay what they want (within the law), or
maybe they have done the math?
Certainly we understand that there are factors within this demographic which could create periods of decreased production, increased expense and uncertainty.
The main reason women earn less than men on average is becuase women, on average, take several years off from work durring their lifetime to have kids. Of course I don't want to penalise women for having kids but there are certain economic realities. The only way to reall.y redress this is to a: pay women 100% of their wage while on maternity leave, with preferential treatment to promotion when they come back or b: pay them more while they're working, ie' unequal pay for the same work.
You tell 'em Alyona. How anybody could be against this at this point in time is beyond me. I guess the Grand Ole Party just wants to keep fighting against any kind of civil rights legislation tooth and nail.
Alyonna's correct. US would still have slavery if it were left to individual states. I am a Libertarian and I guarantee you that men would be screaming bloody murder etc if they were being paid less than women for the same job. Women do all the work in this society yet are treated like effin slaves.
Bogus segment. Regurgitation of old and tired ideas. What's next, burning bras and feminizing "men" with housework?
Ironically, and contrary to its intended effect, forcing employers to pay equal wages for supposedly equal work would ensure that less women get hired for key positions. That's because employers know that men tend to work more, so employers will seek to get the most value for their money. Can't fool that supply-demand graph lol
If more women went to university to study Mathematics, Engineering, and Computer Science instead of Sociology and English Lliterature (and yes, Broadcast Journalism) you'd see that pay gap a lot smaller. If more women chose to be plumbers, mechanics and technicians rather than party planners, cosmeticians and elementary school teachers, they'd make more money.
The fact is that women choose careers without pay as the primary consideration. For men, more often, pay is the key consideration.
@parcivale Are you stupid? Even women in the careers you mention they 'should' study, make less than men in similar positions... This is about pay equality that would afford many women (including single mothers) financial independence, not about the merit of the careers or occupations they choose. Equal pay should be for everyone, not just financiers or computer geeks.
@tictocmm Your two points contradict eachother. First you say that female mathemeticians make less money than male mathemeticians, all things being equal. Really? Same age, same experience? If that's true, that's something female mathemeticians should do something about if their value is the same as the man's
But then you say that it shouldn't matter what they study or what they do. They should make the same as men regardless of their jobs. And that is total B.S.
Women already study mathematics and computer science in greater number than men. At least they do in these United States. Besides, why would a pay gap gets smaller? What intensive do businesses have to pay people more if they can get away with paying less?
@Strannik01 You are just wrong. Women only earn 20% of the bachelor's degrees in STEM (science, technology, engineering mathematics) in the U.S. and less than 20% of the Master's and PhD degrees.Do some googling.
listen again..."doing the same job!" they are not referring to career choices differences, this is within the same company and sometimes the same job..if you have a female in your workplace chances are she is getting paid less then you...studies show there is still a 4-7%gap between mens and womens income...there are female scientist that make less then the male coworkers, cops, engineers and even teachers too...
Why would somebody of normal intelligence take a Women's Studies class? I mean, who wants to subject themselves to mind-rotting garbage? Such a person must either be forced into it or they're totally insane. The shit that passes for scholarship in those departments is appalling. Their so-called "research" amounts to nothing but personal anecdotes and unscientific statistical parlor tricks.
funny thing is... the two "women" and I use that word loosely, they voted to kill this and they probably get paid less then the guys sitting next to them...I find that hilariously funny XD...except if you are a woman...this is not a step in the right direction, forward, this is a huge jump backwards...this will prove to be a disaster!!!!
@matcotech If you think a brief comment pushing for equality in women's pay is 'divisive' and 'sensationalist', then you are not truly worthy of the adjectives 'guerrilla', much less 'liberal'...
@tictocmm I'm all for equal pay for women. It wasn't the subject but the delivery. I'm just sick of "news" channels dividing us into two parties of nonsense. I'm a highly progressive liberal myself. The only thing worse than establishment democrats are the republicans.
I believe in a thing called states rights. Congress shouldn't be passing laws like these but each state individually. It isn't in Congress' Constitutional powers, not the general welfare clause, the commerce clause or 14th amend that they use to expand federal government power beyond what's numerated in the Constitution.
You know, I have been a fan for several months now, but not anymore. After watching this clip, It is clear to me that you Alyona, and likely RT as a hole, have an on-going agenda behind the causes that you champion... and it would seem that it is not to just report and let the viewer form his or her own opinion. No, as I am starting to see it, you want more forced Government regulations and laws despite of the worst DEPRESSION in Human history only weeks away? Fuck you Freedom hating communists!
