  • Better than most trance I've heard which is as predictable as traffic. This sounded like you were having fun which is what its all about.

  • that was dope, not my thing exactly but still very dope

  • Do Sonar Products force you to update? If so, how often do I HAVE to update it. (most programs go obsolete after a while. I'm wondering if this one does too.)

  • @coltpoke2 It wont go obsolete fella.. And you don't have to pay for the updates, There free.. Unless you UPGRADE!?

  • @best00000007 Wait, so do they ever force you to upGRADE?

  • @coltpoke2 no fella.. People are still using Sonar 1.

  • You should come on Newgrounds, we have lots of peeps who make this kind of music. (VGM fusioned with DnB and Trance etc.)

  • @Avizura Whats newground fella?

  • @best00000007 Newgrounds is a website where you can submit Flash movies and games, but also has a big audio portal!

This type of music is really really popular there.

  • -totally epic ending-

"..... Well thats basically that." :|

    AMAZING. xDD

  • @ScarrletSongs Thanks fella...lol

  • Good track, Im using Kinetic 1 , but must find another program because it wont load correctly anymore. How is Sonar? In Kinetic, I never used the default sounds or grooves, as I always changed them. The other thing I didnt like was that the song arranger (bottom) only had one track. It should have had a few.

Anyway, looking to move to something a bit more in depth. You can check out some fun stuff on my channel, I can post more tracks on request.

  • @JDCubed789 I would recommend Sonar anytime. Sonar X1 Is being a little shit though at the min. So would suggest 8.5 till they sort the bugs out.. happy playing dude..

  • You have a fabulous textbook accent mate Yeah CHANGE THE TITLE :)

  • Do you make the songs in the program, or do you need cables and shit and connect it to the PC and play it by urself?

  • @Peetyland1

No, you make the songs in the program...

  • @Peetyland1 Everything is played by me into the program. But using the soft synths.

  • have you ungraded to x1 yet? Its really awesome even with the bugs.

  • Its like music from Pegasus! :D

  • badass!!

  • which is better FL studio or this? in terms of sound design for films

  • @batatacreew

FL studio doesnt even come close to sonar 8.5

  • Hi , what VST instrument u use ? is it all in sonar 8 package ?

I'm frustrated to choose a programme that can record and write music with wide range of vst and loops . Any recommand ?

  • @johnly83 This rack had a mix of cakewalk synths and others. But Sonar 8.5 comes with lots of synths that would easily make it easy to write a tune.. My first synths when I start a project is Session drumer 3, rapture, dimension pro. So I would defo buy it dude.... I love it.... hope this helped.. laters..

  • @johnly83 SOMETHING PRODUCERS LAUGH AT BUT SHOULDN'T IS MIX CRAFT IT IS A GREAT TEACHING ELEMENT. ONCE YOU GET THIS GO TO VST PLANET AND THERE YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DOWN LOAD VIRTUAL INSTRUMENTS AND A HELL OF ALOT OF THEM. START WHAT WITH SOME PROS DIDN'T AND MOVE UP. IT REALLY ISN'T AS DIFFICULT AS SOME OF THE TEACHING VIDS LOOK. AND THEN SONAR AND OTHERS BECOME SIMPLE. WHAT I AM LISTENING TO IS GOOD BUT THE SAME STAND OUT AND YOU WILL FIND YOUR WAY. MAKE THE TREND. DONT FOLLOW IT.

  • sweet man,i just got sonar, sound quality is way better than fl studio

  • Fab track , your vids are an inspiration ... keep up the good work !

  • Just won this in a composition contest!!!! loooooooooovveeeee it.

  • how do u get this program?

    anyone?

  • @EricLazo135

Download from isohunt.com :) i just have and sonar's sic as fuk :) go download it

  • @EricLazo135 Depends how serious you are. When I learned Photoshop, I pirated for a couple of years until I had it learned to competence, then when I was 'there' and started making money from it, I dropped the cash. PS is around a thousand bucks. Sonar's nowhere near that.

For big dollar programs, this keeps everyone happy. It's kind of like an extended demo.

You can also buy Cakewalk hardware and see what programs you get. I have a VS 100. Comes with Sonar VS. I can upgrade later.

  • the instruments sound so oldish

  • I must say very goood work for 20mins

  • Sick, Bass and Drums are so punchy! And the syth sounds and programing are mad! Maybe its time to upgrade from FL Studio...

  • i like the potential sonar presents but i prefer reasons interface, i wish i had gotten use to sonar first...

  • I really liked this tune and I looked at your myspace - good work. Very lively track which has a computer game vibe which I like. I use Sonar 6 Producer and this is inspiring. I will upgrade to Sonar 8.5 when I can afford it.

Have you used older versions of Sonar and would you say this could be achieved with them?

Do you mess around with any of the colour schemes?

Have you tried the video playback in sonar?

    Thanks for sharing!

  • @compoundsound yes, yes and yes! lol

  • sounds like Barby Girl...

  • @merin600 LOL....Thanks!!!! I think!

  • Shout outs from T.dot !

  • @fizk Thumbs up back to ya!

  • Hehey, I really like what you did here. Very nice tune to listen to. Upbeat of some sort : ).

  • @Aellius88 Thanks

  • lol "bad ass" nioce

  • very good!!!

  • awesome!

  • You seem to know about these types of things so i have a question, what would be the best software to make psytrance or goatrance music? I've never made anything on these kinds of softwares so im looking for an easy to use software.. please respond. :)

  • @TriforceMat fist thing is.... Can you play the piano? if so then this type of program is the thing for you.... It is best when you can just set a track up, get the idea down then move on. I have done a vid to show how to make a track from scratch. give it a watch and you'll see. I think it's easy to learn the basics in Sonar and the rest of Soar can be picked up as you go on..... hope this was of some help..

  • @best00000007 I play guitar actually but i could always start the piano.. if i do learn the piano is it worth it to start with sonar?

  • @TriforceMat Guitar will do! This is what they use if you went into a studio to record so it will more than do the job you want. And I think it's just as easy to learn Sonar than any other DAW software. Sonar 8.5 comes with beatscape witch should have the drum side of what you want to do and Rapture for the rest... Just go for it dude. You will love it.

  • @best00000007 Alright awesome! I've got quite some money to spend on this, how much is it exacly?

  • @TriforceMat Were are you?

  • @best00000007 Canada

  • @TriforceMat LOL...... Fucking hell!!!! The guy under this has asked me the same thing..... Have a look on "tom lee music" it's about £400 in the UK for the Sonar 8.5 producer which is the one you need to get...He had it on there for $600 but i'm sure you can get it lower if you look around...or have a look at what Cakewalk are selling it for.(Cakewalk make Sonar )

  • @best00000007 lol ok thanks for all the help!

  • @TriforceMat No probs my friend... Have a ear to some of my tunes on my web site and tell me what you think. Can't put my fucking web address on this fucking reply. twating thing!!!!!!!!! lol. I'll be back

  • @best00000007 yea i heard ur trance tracki rly liked it.

  • how much does this program cost?

  • @imadethistocomment4 about £400 for Sonar 8.5 producer...

  • @best00000007 what is that in canadian dollars?

  • @imadethistocomment4 Dude! Just go to a music shop web site and see....lol

  • @imadethistocomment4 Here look on "tom lee music" I'm in England and managed to find this so you can...lol good luck fella!

  • @best00000007 thanks

  • you definitely made me wanna get sonar over fl. my friend has FL n i feel that just by watchin you put some of these together it is alot easier than FL.

  • Comment removed

  • VERY awesome for 'something simple' lol

  • @WiriamuFirippu Thanks..lol

  • hey,

im using reason to do most of my work in and then i export each of my individual tracks as wav to mix down in sonar.. is there a quicker way that i can export my tracks directly into sonar and have sonar record them as wav after ive rewired the tracks???????????????????????????????????????

    HELP

  • @jayesco should be... I'll get back to ya!

  • @jayesco OK!!!! If you put each synth and drums synth to it's own track on Reasons mixer. Then setup the same tracks in Sonar i.e an audio track for each track in Reasons. you should be able to click the FREEZE button on Sonar and it will put all the audio produced by Reason onto the tracks you just setup.... Try that and get back to me... Byr for now..

  • Wheres the freeze button? Ive tried freeze TRACKS and everything is greyed out.....

  • Hey best got ur mgs i just got sonar8 fucking bloody hell i tought ableton and reason 4 were hard to use this software looks nuclear phycsis help me out with a video covering automation, using ur computer keyborad as a midi and audio snap thanks made one track so far.

    PEACE LOVE AND TECHNOFOREVER!!!

  • I am impressed at how much depth there is in the layered middle section without it being messy and drowning out other parts. :) A nice track, good work!

  • this is great best00000007 please make more videos covering sonar's sound effects automation and vst's plan on getting it soon thanks PL N TF

  • @djnosleeves85 Will do!

  • Your so right SOnar 8.5 is nice . they have session drummer 3 and it has john bonham drum sounds and they are sweet. Sonar rules. Good job Man Cheers from the U.S.A

  • @dustin6498 It's worth the upgrade....

  • Boring. I've always hated this style of music.

  • has a nice game song feel, reminds me of something you'd hear in megaman.

  • @lecure777 LOL... Nice one!

  • Your setup is amazing and the bass has real punch. I've been trying to get this same kick effect with my attempts of trance but the bass keeps getting buried and muddy. At times I wanna give up, but seeing your video has really inspired me :-). Unfortunately I am not a sound engineer, so using compressors and expanders is not my forte. If you could make a video explaining how to properly create a kickdrum and layer over it without muffling the mix, that would be awesome.

  • I'm using Sonar as well with a Core2Quad, an M-AUDIO Audiophile2496, and a modest set of Wharfedales.

  • @YengDriver @YengDriver It's all about the EQing of the track... The Kick Needs to have ALL the bass range and the Bass needs the low end cutting back to about 80hz. The low ends of the rest of the tracks need to be cut back to about 120 to 300hz. This will get it sounding about right. Then it's up to your ears to do the rest..... Hope this helped... Bye for now.

  • I usually dont like that kind of music, but that was interesting. I use Sonar, with the new 64 bit i7 computer, it smokes.

  • Can Sonar 8 work well with karaoke tracks?

  • i was wondering can you create a song with out an actual midi keyboard? I mean can you just create a midi track and finish the song that way?

  • YES!

  • Thanks for the info im purchaseing Sonar as i write this.Out odf all the daws ive tried sonar sounds very smooth especially with synths: I cant wait to get started. Of course i could use a bit of guidance. Im using omnisphere so if you dont mind how do you set multiple outs for a synth? On a side note does Sonar come with a library of samples if not thats fine but if it does that would be one less thing to purchase

  • @cheapspace YES!

  • Dude this is awesome.

    Does SONAR work with BootCamp?

  • Don't know of "BOOT CAMP" sorry!

  • @JMan9391 yes, this works with bootcamp, but, with a mac, why u don't use pro tools?

  • do you know how to get rid of the popping sound when you use the antares vst autotune plug in on sonar 8 studio edition

  • Does your Sonar Studio have V-Vocal?

If so use that insted it's much better....

  • dang i don't have v-vocal i've been trying to find the plug in, i actually found out i was overloading it with tracks, thanks for the help tho man :)

  • @moses2828 Lol I thought the same thing but V-Vocal is actually a strip so you have to right click the vocal track and click create V-Vocal Clip.

  • cross fading

  • Nice work man I Think sonar 8 is way better than cubase 5. I have a motif xs and it works great with sonar but its made for cubase. I don't like the cubase intergration. Keep up the jams we need more sonar guys to post there jams. Thank you

  • I still cant hear any sound, I keep getting this message when cakewalk first starts up saying "the following driver(s) either do not support the current audio format or are in use by another application.

Please choose whether you want to disable them or use them anyway."

The driver is the Realtek HDA SPDIF Optical Out [Wave Rt]. I got sound once and since then never again, I want to blow my head off from the irritation! PLEEEASSE HELP ME!

  • Click "USE ANYWAY" Then go to "Options" Then "Audio" Then Click on the "Drivers" tab...And make sure you tick the Realtek boxs. Then click on the "General" tap uptop. And make sure you have Realtek in the "Playback Timing Master" and "Record Timing Master"....Try that and get back to me...

  • Thanks man! It worked! I'm so happy I could, I could...MAKE MUSIC! Seriously thanks man.

  • No Probs. Glad I could help.....

  • Actually I do have on emore question if you dont mind. In protools after you create a midi track you can convert that to an audio format so you can see the wave file. I'm currently trying to figure out how to do this in sonar and so far "bouncing to track is not working, any thoughts?

  • If you are talking about midi for a soft synth then it's easy....If you mean midi for a outboard synth then you have to record it as audio.....But for a soft synth all you have to do is RIGHT MOUSE click on the AUDIO track of the two it creates (the other being midi) and go to FREEZE then click on FREEZE SYNTH.....That it! done!

  • Once again you are my hero! Indebted friend. Thank you!

  • I'm very glad I found your Channel. It is outrageous how few Sonar tutorials there are online. Well, good ones at least.

PS> I've never heard a decent electronic tune done in Sonar until finding you. Can't wait for the rest of your vids.

  • Would you please do a hOW TO USE cAKEWALK SONAR" The basics video? I've just gotten it and I've hooked my keyboard up to it, but I cant hear any sound. Not as easy as fruity loops or reason, please help!

  • It's a case of knowing were stuff is. So i will do a vid for you.......What sound card are you using?

  • I'm just using the basic sound card in my sony vaio laptop but it'll have to do for now!

  • do you have any workflow and controller config tips? please answer. thank you

  • Workflow tips.....use the keyboard short cuts as much as pos as this is much quicker than the mouse. I always set my I/O buffer to 512. will put up a vid of all the setting if you like......

  • I've never saw anyone make a hip-hop beat using Sonar before. It would be nice if you can create a hip-hop beat in Sonar. And this is among the best techno/electronic beats I've heard all my life. You need to create a vocal melody and have someone sing that melody with some meaningful lyrics. It will sell I bet. But if you do, try not to write a bunch of crappy lyrics like in most of today's music though.

  • It's Done and up there now!!!! Hope it helps

  • this track is sick

    nice work best

    thanx...

  • Will put up a vid tonight for you!!!

  • thank you...

  • amazingly talented! I use Sonar 8, FL Studio 9 and Ableton 8 and if I could only use one of them it would be Sonar.

  • Good man!!!!

The new Sonar 8.5 with the VX-64 looks a bit good!

  • I would love to see more videos on SONAR 8 from you! I'm completely new to it and just purchased it....I have been online researching tutorials, etc. on SONAR8 and DAMN, there's so much in it!!! I can't wait to watch your next video on it....I subscribed! Thank you for the informational stuff!!! Great work!

  • Thanks alot man....I've used Sonar since it was made and have tryed others but this is the only one for me...I will make the next vid on how to start from scatch....If you need to know what or how to do something in Sonar let me know and I'll put it up.... Bye for now...

  • damn man, thats pretty nice work you've done there. convinced me to take sonar over fl studio
