a custodian at my elementary school looked just like the bridgekeeper - he was the nicest man - but after this, i was scared of him for 2 years - haha funny how 2 min of goofy SS can weird you out as a kid
Since this skit was either in the 1970s or the 1980s, and since there were no cell phones back then in the 1970s and 1980s, I guess the bridgekeeper must have quickly ran to a pay phone to call and order some groceries before a person could come to cross the bridge or there was a pay phone off screen near the bridge which he called from.
Actually, you can use the the plural sense of Cookies as he didn't use a reference to singular before it such as "one" cookies which would be incorrect. He is using the term "Cookies" to describe all Cookies in general. Just as if he was holding one duck and was describing it's feathers "Ducks have multi-colored feathers" is proper - just as "This duck has multi-colored feathers" is also proper. "Duck has multi-colored feathers" is not proper. See?
If that man was a delivery man, I thought probably he should be wearing a store/delivery uniform with the name of the delivery place that he works instead of just wearing street clothes. With the man just wearing street clothes, it looks like he is just some stranger who just ran to the store to buy groceries and then it looks like he needed to cross the bridge to get back home. Maybe if the man wore a delivery uniform, the bridgekeeper would've known which person is delivering his groceries.
I know this might sound strange for me to say but, if that man was a deliverer working for a food company who was delivering groceries to the bridgekeeper, I thought maybe he should be wearing a special uniform with the name of the store he works for on his shirt with his shirt also saying "Delivery Man." All the man looks like is that he is just some stranger wearing regular street clothes who ran an errand to go to the store to buy groceries for his house and was heading home.
Yes, I loved it too. I just thought that it looked a little strange that the bridgekeeper didn't know or remember the food he ordered (the cookie, the pizza, and the watermelon) that he made that food delivery man eat his stuff that he ordered. As soon as the bridekeeper told him to open the bag to see if there are any circles, the food delivery man at 0:35 should've said "it's your groceries that you ordered which I'm delivering to you", instead of just saying, "it's just groceries."
I loved it too. I thought that it looked and sounded a little strange that the bridgekeeper didn't remember that he ordered groceries and what kind of groceries he ordered when he pulled out the cookie and the pizza out of the bag (if the bridgekeeper also ordered the watermelon slice, I wonder why the delivery man had it). At 0:35, the delivery man should've said "I'm a deliverer, and I'm delivering your groceries to you that you ordered" instead of just saying, "it's just groceries."
Yes, I loved it too. I thought that it looked and sounded strange that the bridgekeeper didn't remember that he ordered groceries and what kind of groceries he ordered. I thought that as soon as he took the cookie and the pizza out of the bag he would probably know that, that was what he ordered (I wasn't sure why the watermelon slice wasn't in the bag). At 0:35, the delivery man should've said "I'm a delivery man, and it's your groceries that I'm delivering to you."
Yes that was great. I thought that it looked a little surprising that the bridgekeeper didn't remember the food that he ordered. At 0:35, the delivery man should've said "I'm a delivery man and it's your groceries in the bag that you ordered" instead of just saying "it's just groceries."
I always wondered why those things-like the pizza-wasn't in a box(yea,at the tender age of 4 i wondered that.lol) hahaha, man,I remember looking at this.good stuff and times. That man was obsessed!lol.I miss Classic S.S.
Talk about a jolt to the memory, I had almost completely forgotten about these bridgekeeper skits. *LOL* But I liked 'em back in the Day, Thanks for putting 'em on YouTube!
I've been wandering aimlessly through life, until I watched this video. Now, my calling is clear - I must become a bridgekeeper! I only need to locate that snappy uniform and a long stick.
Oh my gosh!!! What memories!! I wish they had these vintage sesame streets on dvd so someday when I have kids they could watch these. This actually made learning fun!! TV shows for kids now are so stupid!!
What's the significance of the thunderclap in each of these? I never got it during my childhood and still don't. I think they shouldn't put spooky sounds like that in a kids show.
I think it's to show that the bridgekeeper is an important person and they do that to make his presence known and something like thunder shows power but yes they could use something less scary for kids
Can you imagine-- just coming home from the grocery store, and there's this GUY dressed as a wizard or something, standing on your front stoop, demanding that you EAT YOUR CIRCLES!
Whenever I hear about the importance of not wasting food, I can't help but laugh because in my head I always hear "...and it is very WRRRROOONNNNG to throw FOOD away."
The bridgekeeper was very lucky and stupid. Lucky because he had a very yummy shopping list, stupid because he forgets it and the other guy ends up eating it all up lol!
Gandalf's subsequent job wasn't as glamorous as his previous job was in the war of the one ring.

One thing worth noting how the Bridgekeeper is only holding one cookie, yet he refers to them in a plural sense.
LarcenTyler 2 years ago
Yes because he is speaking about cookies as a whole, not just the one he's holding.
