@mattialegual It comes down if you want to have the Nokia software support or if you're willing to hack your I8910HD to be a better device. Unlike Nokia, it supports custom roms (firmwares) which might be more interesting to power user. But if you decide to go for Nokia, pick the N97 mini over the original ;)

i recognize both phone, Nokia Advantage is GPRS/EDGE Class 32/32 while Samsung still 12/12... Nokia N97 has carl zeis best Quality Shot with camera 5 MP but Samsung even just one flash are more advance than Nokia because can capture macro video or 720 HD (DVD Resolution)... Nokia screen still TFT while Samsung Already AMOLED (more brightness when bring outdoor)...

bought a Samsung i8910 HD for a bargain price of 206 USD! it perfect! =)

i could also dump my flv collection(youtube files) and they play in prefect resolution. the only bad part is the phone PC software doesn't come with a video converter that can encode in the phone's max resolution(QHD) so got to hunt for a better converter if want to enjoy the most of the HD video.

That's really cheap, congratz on a new phone! It's also kind of sad that the poor consumer demand made the price fall for this Symbian flagship, knowing that the hardware on this phone is the same as the current top sellers like iPhone, Palm Pre or N900. The still buggy Symbian 5th might be partly to blame, but I'll never forgive Samsung how they completely dropped support for I8910HD. I still have this phone, but this is definitely my last Symbian smartphone from Samsung, period.

i just sold my n97 for a i8910 n97 to slow to thick the i8910 is way better by a big margin. n900 shouldve neen the n97 even still the i8910 would be better. shame nokia and the rest of the mobile industry are playig catchup to apple apps but think in a few years they will all be the same more choice for us. wonder what the new ip4gs will be like hope they put decent cam in there and snapdragon cpu

Without a keyboard & Kinetic scrolling I disagree. One day, the N97 will probably play avi files smoothly too and at least you can prop the screen up (even if its not always at the angle you want). Also, the actual sound quality of the N97 is way better it's just not as loud. Truth is i like them both but since i don't play games on my phone I really care less about a faster processor, graphics acceleration & bigger screen than I do a proper keyboard. as of v20, N97 all the way.

Since the release of the Omnia HD some things were done, like:

GUI Speed, ACC-Codecs, Loading-Speed! I am shure more things will be done in future! I also hope that the lags in the recorded videos will be fixed!

Lags on the HD cant be fixed...it works as the same way as a consumer HD camcorder. (not like the pro-sumer or the pro HD cams). You would probably need to stablize the Omnia or put it on a little stand before recording vids to avoid some lags.

Also the Omnia has the same problem as watching HD on a LCD tv or a Plasma tv.....plasma is smooth and LCD will always have the motion lags from fast movements...

omnia .. with .. a build in GPU ... an asphalt 4 ... moves like crap.... not very impressive at all... + the HD camera ... with 24 fps .. not so HD ... in my opinion... n97 all the way... but that is just my opinion. not that ... omnia is a great phone .. :D

Somehow I don't quite get why everybody seems to happy with this review. To my mind, almost everything about it is wrong.

I am neither a Nokia nor a Samsung fan. I know making reviews isn't easy but with this kind of English you just can't do without scripting. Or let someone else do the talking!

The fact that the Nokia's slider caused no trouble in 2 weeks isn't a big deal. It has to last longer. And not one word about the quality of voice calls? These things are phones, remember?

Nokia is a bit too thick and bit too slow on a touch response. Poor guy has had to re-touch a few things. Both phones are lacking refinement in operation. Gonna wait another year. sigh

Yeah, the stupidity of Symbian 5th ed ui dictates that there are menus you have to touch 2 times (!) to activate them, instead of only one time like on the iPhone! N97 is the second Nokia smartphone with a touchscreen, so these mistakes cannot be excused anymore!

Samsung omnia HD i wont say owns but i will say is much better than the n97 when it comes to display,video quality,camera etc which is the main area of the omniahd where as the nokia n97 has the tipical browsing advantage and the key board plus the 32 gb memory which is actually too much for me and 8 will just do fine for a person like me. Both phones are great for what there main functions is but over all the omnia hd is the complete phone i am looking for

Nokia failed with the hardware perf... it can be seen easily that the N97 is missing ram!!!

The only problem of the Omnia is the firmware... For sure for browsing, it looks like the first firmware of my 5800xm, and this has been a lot improved with the new fw!

I will go for the Omnia, but I really hope that Samsung will come with new FW soon... or an other company with an other faster browser... ;)

Omnia HD with it's AMOLED capacitive touchscreen is great for video watching. Now the performance differences in the web browser can be explained by the older firmware on the Samsung phone, sorry about that...
