I think certain people are genetically predisposed to believe or not. Since the brain is mainly driven by chemical reactions I don't see why a God would punish people for not have the correct brain chemistry.

It is pretty self-evident.... and you do nothing but try to point out his flaws. Not make any debate towards what he says.

I don't really need to apply these criteria to atheism. It is just self evident that people who deny the existence of God are mentally ill.

I'm sorry, but ShwaNerd really DOESN'T need to demonstrate how these criteria fit theism at all; it's frankly as self-evident as ShwaNerd implied, and anybody who doesn't see it is either lying to themselves or is a complete ignoramus.

Well done. I think Shwanerd may have been conflating theism in general with religious fundamentalism, but even with fundamentalism these criteria don't quite hold up.

Schwanerd's popularity is something that brings me both comfort and fear. Comfort in knowing how pathetic so many atheists are, and fear in knowing that these people are, in many ways, our society's future.

I suppose it depends on how you enjoy his videos. If you think that his videos hold any intellectual weight, i'm not sure what to tell you.

When I see a large number of pathetic atheists, it shows me that their are potential weaknesses in the atheist position. If the atheists were all smart people, that would give credibility to their ideas.

I haven't watched all of ShwaNerd's videos, but the ones I have watched do not strike me as being terribly rational. The video which this video is a response to was one of the worst I have seen by him. What is your opinion of his claim that theism is the result of a mental illness?

i personaly dont think theism is a mental illness. Sure there are people who are mentaly ill and they happen to be theists and the same thing can be said for atheists. I do think that if you fit in with the things shwanerd was saying then you are not sane
