6:29 WOW! No wonder you don't see Br'er Rabbit in any of those early videos...he was tiny! Thank goodness he's larger and more on model now, I believe he was one of the first to make that transition.
I was in this parade. My main roll was half of one of the elephants that make a brief appearance at 5.27 (we traded doing front and back). We had a little routine we did, but here we just seem to be lumbering along. I sub'ed on the trolley near the head of the parade a couple times as well as danced behind the bandstand once. Thanks for posting this, what a kick in the memory!! Hi to all you others who were there.
WOW! Thank you so much for posting your video. I was just a teenager in junior high, having wonderful memories of this parade. During the celebration of Disney's 25th I came to realize my dream of wanting to be a part of the Disney magic. My dream came true in 1985. The music and the theme song, "Disneyland is Your Land" is a long time favorite of mine. I still have the cassette recording's that I had made watching this parade and stage shows. Thank's again for preserving this wonderful video.
@that1reject - Sorry I'm seeing this 2 years after your post, but I believe Angie is dancing on the float in this one. She was one of my very best friends at this time - I was in this parade too!! I was on the trolley for the first part of the year and then was a hoedown dancer the 2nd half. I met my first husband doing this parade!! The marriage didn't last, but the memories have and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything!
@1dwgogo2 no prob love! i love meeting the generation of parade performers that cam b4 us that r there now! when u say the float which 1 r u talkin about?
@that1reject - Sorry I forgot to mention that! She was a can-can dancer and was on the Golden Horseshoe float. It's in Part 2. I just looked at it again and she is the second from the left as they go by, blonde wig. It's hard to see their faces, but I'm 99% positive that's her. There is a good shot of the 4 on the float since they turned to face the camera when they are in front of it. How do you know Angie? I haven't seen her since the Electrical Parade reunion in '96 or '97. Smiles........
@1dwgogo2 yea i saw her finally! lol well im originally from san diego where she created a dance company call culture shock which i was a part of for 3 years..... just saw her the end of january she was judging a competition in irvine..... do u still come to the park at all?
@that1reject - I haven't been back since that reunion, but want to try to make it over there soon. I'm in AZ now and just don't get to CA very much, but my husband & I keep talking about it. I haven't seen CA Adventure, the "new" Tomorrowland - I'm sure the park is a very different place. Do you know if the Electrical Parade is going to run this summer? I would love to see it again! I'd probably cry!! LOL!
@1dwgogo2 aww ok! yea its totally different! ummm ur making me feel bad giving bad news lol they took ep back to florida :( trust me we r all mad still! i was finally satisfied with my spot in a parade and they take it away!
@1dwgogo2 well at the very end i was a standby but b4 that i was 5 day pi boy so i got to jus mess around on route..... so much fun! i did cindy mice too!
@that1reject - But they're so CUTE!! We were quite sure we were the cutest characters in the parade!! Made the weight, the weird vision, the limited arm movement all worth it. LOL This has been fun, and I'm off to lala land now. If you see Angie anytime in the near (or not so near) future, and you happen to remember, please tell her Gogo says hi! And I hope to see you at the park soon!!! :)
Wow, thank you . I was a performer at WDW during this time and was involved in this parade coming to Orlando the next year for Tencennial at Walt Disney World, with some modifications of course. What a treat to see this.
Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, Goofy, Minnie Mouse, Baloo, King Louie, Colonel Hathi, An Elephant, A Monkey, Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and Brer Bear are in Part 1 of the Parade.
Very nice. Pretty good camera work. The sound is pretty good. LOOK AT THE SIZE OF BRER RABBIT'S HEAD! So I guess this is a parade themed after the different lands...
Once again, you have presented us with a wonderful classic parade and one I have never seen before since my first trip to Disneyland was in 1981. This was the era where parades at Disneyland were classics. Thanks for sharing all your rare Disneyland videos!
So fun to watch! I was also in this parade as a parasol dancer (front right) at about 6:10. Would love to have a copy! Thanks so much for sharing.
