That Gretel girl is so adorable, but I find it really funny when she says such depressing things- "I don't care if the animals eat us, as long as they wait until after we're dead!" LOL. What a sweet, morbid girl.
Wow. You know i don't judge people by their looks but you have to admit with a witch hat, green skin and a big nose that she COULD not be trustworthy. Thumbs up if you agree with me.
OMG this is great! i have'nt seen this film since it came out in 1983 when i was 5 years old. i've searched and searched for it , but have had no luck. this was a real treat to find after 28 years! thanks!

From 9:18-9:25, what was the witch saying, and was she talking to herself or was she looking at Hansel and Gretel through the window and talking to them as they're sleeping?
I know the witch started being loving and caring to Hansel and Gretel by inviiting them in her house, giving them dinner to eat, and a bed to sleep but at 9:06, why would Hansel imagine the witches home to be like heaven when both of them don't know the witch too well and having a witch around wouldn't feel like heaven?
Well, the witch and stepmother are both played by Joan Collins. So, as the stepmother, maybe once she got Hansel and Gretel lost, she must have disguised herself as the witch so that she could lure them to the candy house so she can eat and get rid of them. The stepmother and witch could either be mother and daughter, sisters (with the witch being a senior citizen sister), aunt and niece, or grandmother and granddaughter since they both shared the same interest in hating Hansel and Gretel.
Maybe they were since I wondered the same thing, and the person with YouTube name "xocaitlin88ox" told me that they were cherries when I thought they were red grapes or mini tomatoes.
@trilobite3339 Actually, now as an adult its very sad. Its certainly true that a lot of people kids do live with step parents(or at least spouses of their parents) who do not want them to be there. Ive never done it, but I can imagine it would be hard to love kids that are the product of your husband and another woman. That should be clearer to an adult.
I think the reason why Hansel and Gretel went inside the witch's house was because, for one thing, the witch said at 7:28, "don't be frightened, no harm will come to you", (when she said that, maybe Hansel and Gretel thought that she was a harmless witch not trying to hurt them but instead, trying to help them with whatever they needed), and another reason why the went inside her house was because, maybe because they were starving to death and were hoping she would feed them which she did.
I alway wondered if the step-mother was the witches sister or witch itself. Step-mother sent the kids into the woods and then at the end of the story she is gone.
Well, the stepmother and the witch are both played by actress Joan Collins. (I know the stepmother and the witch sort of shared the same interest to Hansel and Gretel. Like the stepmother disrespected them while the witch wanted to eat them). Also that's true, the stepmother sent the kids into the woods to get lost but, not so they will be eaten and/or killed by an animal but, since the family was poor, she was hoping someone else who is richer will find them and maybe adopt them.
That might be right if the witch was the stepmother's older sister or, maybe the witch was the mother of the stepmother where she brainwashed the stepmother in her younger years to be rude to kids.
(She might be the mother of the stepmother which could be the reason why she is a senior citizen on a cane where the stepmother's mother got very old as the stepmother was getting to be an older adult).
What did Hansel say from 6:35-6:37? It sounded like he said "go on Gretel, it's some bread." However, that window Gretel broke and ate didn't look like bread.
When I was very young, I thought the white dove was also named Gretel because, at 5:36, Hansel was pointing and looking at the white dove saying "Gretel" which made me think that the white dove was named Gretel also.
Thank you. The only thing those cherries were missing were stems. I guess they were walking under a cherry tree where some cherries fell on the ground (which is why Gretel found that first cherry on a leaf) or, there were some plants on the ground that were growing cherries.
I'm sure I'm not the only one looking very deeply into this. There are a lot of YouTube skits that people look very deeply into, especially Sesame Street YouTube skits, even if the Sesame Street YouTube skit is for comedy, a cartoon, or any other reason. People have always looked very deeply into those kind of skits, and have put their own opinion on what they saw, and how they felt on a certain scene or spot.
Good 'ol Ricky-boy there didn't lead a saintly life either after the sitcome"Silverspoon"; didn't he also went on a bumpy ride in life with drugs and boozes...what's that homie's up to nowadays, does anyone out there know?!!!...
I guess she broke the window because, Hansel said from 6:39-6:41 "what's the matter it's food" probably meaning not to worry it's okay to eat food as long as it's for everyone to eat and it doesn't belong to anyone else (of course, they didn't know that it was the witches food).
However, I wonder what kind of food that window was made of. Maybe it was made of graham cracker or a piece of pie crust since the witch said later in the story that she's fixing the window with a pie.
Maybe she did. Since she said "now I've got them", as they were eating her house. She probably let them eat a little bit of her house just so that they will be distracted and not see her, and she also let them eat her house a little bit hoping that it will make them a little bit fat.
I also thought that the witch looked scary. However, if they were really scared of her, I wonder why they went inside her house as soon as she invited them in at 7:31. (They should've ran away as soon as they saw her at 7:13). Maybe they went inside either because she said at 7:28 "don't be frightened, no harm will come to you" or because Hansel and Gretel were starving to death and were hoping she would feed them which she did. (I always say that if I was them, I wouldn't go inside).
Yes, I thought the same thing. However, the difference between the two witches is that, the witch on "The Wizard Of Oz" had magic powers (she would've had more magic powers if Dorothy didn't have her ruby slippers) and the witch here had no magic powers. Also, even though this witch had no power, she was still more harmful that the Wizard Of Oz witch, and I'm sure the Wizard Of Oz witch wouldn't of been harmful if Dorothy never had her ruby slippers.
I can't see the difference between the stepmother and the witch. I'm confused. They are very identical ;))
