But maybe I should've written 'countries the US would like to be compared favorably to' instead of 'whole world' :-) Last I checked, few US politicians would take pride in being put on the same level as Afghanistan in terms of scientific literacy :-)

The US is #17 in the world, last I checked, behind countries like NORTH KOREA ! That is the product of lowering the standards in primary and secondary US education, government, etc. initially to help the black community and women advance. They have been doing it for 30+ yrs. Americans are and have been getting dumber and dumber-not an insult-just a fact. Academics are and have been screaming about it for many yrs. We reap what we sow

People on welfare and people that make minimum wage usually vote for the candidate that promises the most welfare and the one that promises an increase in minimum wage. Since democrats r the ones that promise these, most of their supporters are the least productive and least educated people. These people are usually people of color as well. Since republicans are the ones in power most of the time, that means the majority of Americans r educated & intelligent.
