The way Dr. Light describes the body part upgrades, it makes it sounds like the Icarus armor halves damage while the Hermes armor simply reduces it. Having a clear-cut better armor doesn't sound right to me, so I did some research. It turns out that while Body Part H does indeed reduce all incoming damage, it also makes X immune to most attacks from normal enemies and some boss attacks.

Clement, the moon rotates around the earth, but it stays at the same place above Earth. The moon is always in the same position AND faces the same direction toward Earth, so an elevator hooked to the earth and to the moon at the same time would work fine. (By the way, that really screws up the evolution-theory view of the formation of the earth and moon, but w/e. I don't know what you believe, so I probably shouldn't bring that up...) By the way, you are a god. :)

Actually, the top of the elevator has a teleporter which leads to the "Gateway" where there is another teleporter that leads to the moon's surface. That's what is being implied anyway. We assume that the teleportation range is not good enough yet.

An orbital elevator basically just elliminates much of the energy needed to traverse the atmosphere into space. It doesn't connect to the moon specifically, it just lets you get to the moon cheaply by escaping earth's gravitational field without spending a crapload of energy.

I don't think the Jakob Elevator is necessarily connected between Earth and the Moon, but rather provides a much more convenient way of transferring supplies and equipment more effectively compared to the classic space shuttle routine....I guess.
